I was curious if using large deep diving crankbaits would work when trolling and if it would be able to get the bait down to depth without the need for weights What do you think would it be worth a test

I only discovered this santee rig stuff this year. In my very small sample size, the demon dragon is winning over the cork. I am catching spotted cats on cut bait using the dragons which is a first. In my area spotted cats famously like worms and live bait. It is almost unheard of to catch one on straight cut shad or slickers. I have had to show people pictures to prove I wasn't lying to them.

At the depths we fish much of the time I'd be very surprised if any fish could ever see good enough to differentiate between colors. They know the bait is there because their senses work that way and they sense it, I doubt if they see it. In shallow water they probably see just fine but in this muddy water I fish in, I doubt they can see. But hey, I'm far from an expert. I just thought I'd throw my observation into the mix.

Depends on water clarity....in muddy water its completely dark at 30'

Is a 10/0 hook too big and if it is what's a good size hook for all sizes of catfish? I just ordered my madkatz medium heavy rod and about to order that ande monster line. I'm just trying to get into catfishing.

Hard to see what side of the boat was the river channel when you were dragging. I've not had any luck with spook floats, foam always does better for me.

The chicken was 3 times the shad you were using. I use the DD on top of a 2 hook Kentucky rig when anchoring or dead sticking in the river. No luck with Carolina rig for some reason

I absolutely agree with you about the combination of black and the rattles. It's always a good thing to contrast colors in that dingy water.

Yessir! I'll be trying this the next time I go catfishing. Not like, online with an altered appearance. You know what I mean. Caught a little channel yesterday jigging a saltwater Gulp twirly tail grub lol yes in fresh water. Gotta be a first for everything.

Great video. Quick question. Is there a specific reason why you rigged the hook further away from the demon dragon? I usually tie my hook as close to the demon dragon as I can with the thinking it will float the bait better. I know and have seen a few people who rig theirs like you do, just wondering if there is a rhyme or reason behind it. Thanks Dieter!

Usually because they worry it'll cause the hook to miss and slide out. To much away from the DD and the bait will just sink back down. I've seen some pros bump the hook right up next to DD thu. I'd think a few inches 4-8 would be optimal.
