Bad Company 2s destruction was incredible. There was a battle where you had to establish a beach head on a jungle map. We held the line against all odds. They kept pounding us with mortars over and over again. Not only did the buildings break but the foundations did too and the terrain would deform and change color. In fact the mortars starting creating deeper and deeper craters. The pits went from light sand color, to dark earth, to eventually an orange clay, just like in real life. Not a single blade of grass was left. We managed to hold the first point and hide in the deep craters. I don't think any of the other battlefield games do this, not even BF1.
@@rosshugecaulk battlefield 1 craters are very limited. They dont deepen, there's just the first impact. Sometimes the craters can overwrite eachother tho.
@@TraceyIsTired I liderwally just did exactly that in game, I have no clue what you're talking about cus the craters def deepen. Gonna try BF4 and BFV next
@@Padlock_Steve Yeah maybe now after 2 years of patches and updates. There is a reason more people play BF 1 and BF V right now, because 2042 is a disgrace.
Idk bad company 2 at its time was absolutely mind blowing. Still my favorite of all of them. The way the soldiers would cuss each other out was so badass. You’d get stabbed in the neck and hear “GET SOME MOTHER FUCKER” 😂
First time that I experienced the Shanghai tower fall I was on top of it trying to capture the point when it suddenly disappeared. I was confused before the whole ass building fell apart. I died when it happened but in future matches I jumped off in the knick of time 😂
battlefield 3 and 4 are those games which cannot be replicated. The amount of fun we had in ps3 era is so crazy. These kind of games wont ever make a return. Battlefield 3 and 4 GOAT.
@@ybaranuslu gave me lots of fun. I remember how hyped i was when i saw that bf1 trailer, remember when all were disappointed on infinite warfare trailer and this one blew up. I spent hours and hours on conquests and the music when ending a match is soo 🔥. the graphics are incredible and the animations the gameplay is simply superb.Bf1 is very very beautiful and crazy good game. Last good fps multiplayer.
When I was small, I only played cod, never battlefield but a year or 2 ago I started playing bf3 and 4 because they sounded so good and I’m absolutely loving it
BC2 only because they took advantage more of it in that game more than the others. Destroying trees and houses actually have a great advantage on most of the maps.
Can't level an area on any of the following bf games like you could in bfbc2. Rush in bfbc2 holding or destroying the environment was crucial to wins or losses
Totally agree. The destruction felt like an important part of the game. I think because of rush mode and smaller maps, but it felt strategic flooring a building. Now it feels a bit like a gimmick and not really utilised.
bf1 would be dice's best bf game, if it didnt have dumbed down gunplay. everything else in that game is just spot on. nothing truly op. great maps. great sound and graphic design and yeah, launched in a good state.
It was always fun in Bad Company 2 to see the map at the end of a round completely flattened. I think people went of their way back then to make sure nothing was left standing.
Bro I remembered the first time the Shanghai tower fell, at the time I was around 10 years old, i was on top of the tower in conquest and the tower started to shake and I started freaking out in game and IRL. I managed to jump off the tower and parachute and the view of the tower falling gave me chills for the whole match that I had to quit because I lost all focus in playing that I could not play. I would have loved to relive that moment all over again.
I also liked you could fortify your position after the buildings destroyed with sandbags machine guns and such more Battlefield 5 was great for that which I do enjoy was hoping that 2042 would've done the same thing but it does not look like there is a lot of destruction in 2042 it's like they lowered the drastically the bar on it
Thats where all my friends were... i remember getting in a transport Helo, going behind enemy lines to capture, hovering just above the ground as we all exit, and our pilot heads out providing gunner support and we clutch the whole game. no game has given me such love.
That game got me and I'm sure a bunch of others hooked on the battlefield series. Being able to destroy where someone was camping was so awesome lol. Once I started playing it I forgot about COD until black ops came out.
I’ll never forget the first few days of bf3. A large group of enemy was coming towards me so I ran into a house to bunker down. A freaking tank started shelling the house and the entire thing collapsed on me and killed me. I was freaking out inside lol.
I think bf1 for sure. I think I also remembered one of the Devs saying they had to kinda step it down a bit because the original tests would just turn the maps into a flat and destroyed wasteland. Then again wouldn't have minded that either way.
This still does happen on operations on some maps. The first sector of verdun heights literally looks like a lunar landscape by the time the enemy takes it
Battlefield 1 was my all-time favorite Battlefield! Boots on the ground, old-timey and simple technology, SO cinematic, the soundtrack. It just felt epic throughout every battle, the gameplay was such an even playing field, few bugs, amazing maps. I wish they could have done something as high quality as that with 2042.
@@Catfish.Knudsenthe germans weren’t nazis in ww1/bf1 and women were on the battlefield in far fewer numbers than men fighting for the russians (in ww1) albeit for a short period of time and they weren’t trained nearly as well as the men
Bro stop making me feel so damn old😢 I was literally saying to myself „The fuck is he talking about? Almost a decade old? That game came out like 3 years ag- ohh“
Nothing will match the sheer excitement when I saw a building collapse for the first time back in the BC2 days. If enough collapsed it could hamper match flow, but still... Back when every new BF title had a noticeable improvement to the Frostbite engine beyond "game got prettier"
BF1 and BFV had the best physics for debris, BC2 was the most destructive, and BF3 and BF4 had the best animation and visual effects on the collapse. Overall, everything but BF2042 does something right in their own way.
Running around in bad company 2, holding down objectives in a village while explosions tore the place to shreds and teammates all worked to keep the place secure, that was the golden age for me
They shut the server down like a month ago 😢 also for battlefield bad company 1 and the other ww2 battlefield game I think it’s called battlefield 1942? Idk
BFBC2 is the Bomb! Not only could you take buildings and vehicles out with explosives, planted correctly on buildings, but you could also stay around even if your squad mates abandoned you. I loved playing 1v4 times 3 other squads. I miss it!
BF4 honestly, the mix of crumbling and explosion impact/effect just work so well together, the others aren't terrible, except 2042, that game has no redeeming features whatsoever.
128 players on a server would do that. I dont think there's a server CPU on the market that can give us previous editions of destructibility and handle 128 players on a server at the same time. This is why 32 v 32 was the sweet spot.
idk about visually pleasing. did you not see all the bits of the house that just disappeared right before your eyes? good destruction but it was verry jarring
Although BFBC2 destruction isn’t the most realistic the sound it made was always so awesome. Just hearing that loud crumbling followed by silence in the campaign was so memorable for me.
Has to be BC2, could level the entire map, use c4 to make a hole in a wall to snipe through etc. Other games it may look better graphic wise, but for sheer destruction has to be BC2
I also think BC2 did destruction in bf games the best.Out of all the BF games I think they specificly put the most thought into how destruction will affect map flow and stategic options in BC2. It was powerfull, but not too powerfull, buildings still felt like solid structures which can take a hit or two and some key map areas were indestructible. Even after many building in an area were destroied, there was still usually plenty of cover left and infantry didnt get stuck vaulting over invisible objects as much. BF3 tones down the destrution compared to bc2,but as a bf2/2142 player I actually think I prefer having no destruction or minimal destruction in a bf game, because destruction is nice eye candy, but often ruins good map flow in high ticket games. Which is one of my main issues with BF4 and later bf games, where destruction turns most CQ maps into glitchy rubble with no cover, which penalizes PTFO squads pushing objectives and rewards campy sniping playstyles and explosive spam fest stand offs.
@@Mitke420 its not that I can't find servers on ps5, thats easy. The problem is on ps5 specifically bf4 has a weird connection error bug that can really only be fixed by forwarding a specific port on your internet.
i think bf4 or bf5 had really good physics because i would say 2042 is a good game but the physics just suck in that game and all they cared about was bringing back guns from the bf3, 4, and bfbc2
BFBC2 - You could tell that the game was built from the ground up with destruction in mind. Everything essentially could be destroyed and it was an important tool at your disposal that you needed to use to win.
BC2 was my first Battlefield, and the destruction blew me away back then, so gonna have to go with that! Absolutely love 3 and 4 as well, and BF4 has to be my all-time favourite I think 🙌
BF1, you can actually use the debris to get kills, i was being chased by someone so i dropped TNT on the ground and then when i blew it up the falling debris killed them. also it looks amazing.
It isn't an animation. In all of these, it's a real time simulation. Frostbite is a wonder, but the guys that made 2042 don't quite know how to use it.
Somehow BF4 looks much worse. I think it's a shift in atmosphere maybe, like BF2042 or even BFV probably has higher graphic fidelity than BF1, but BF1 still looks way better because the art pieces just align so well.
It’s not which one had the best destruction, it’s which one had the most destruction. Later games were heartbreaking with how badly they limited the destructible buildings to very specific ones.
also destruction is a complex mechanic to program which leads to a problem for development. Do you create similar looking building to simplify the process and allow a large scale of destruction or do you create unique assets but have limited destruction. Sure it sucks in later games but theres a reason older games destructible buildings looked mostly identical and where mostly empty and lifeless buildings.
@@CaramelMeako It’s actually much more simple to apply than you think, at least once you have system built. The reason that they didn’t put as much into newer titles is because it introduces server stress to they’re already broken servers, and it is more taxing on hardware, which they need to be careful of for consoles. They also didn’t have the time to implement it due to the crunch and poor management.
BFBC2 was the only one that USED destruction. The other games HAD destruction, but it always felt like a secondary gimmick. The destruction in BC2 fundamentally changed the flow of the battle and could make or break your match depending on if you could maintain your cover positions.
What do you think destruction does, white boy? It changes cover and sight lines, it absolutely does affect the flow of combat in other Battlefield games. I also think BFBC2 is the GOAT, but you don't gotta pull stuff out your ass to give it praise 😂
BFV had such realistic debris effects but nothing beat the terror of BF3/4 when you would hear and feel the building beginning to tremor around you just before you are crushed like a bug 😂
bf1 building still held together meaning people in the building at least had a chance to fight or get out. also offered so many head glitch spots. bf4 levelution only mattered on shianghai. bc2 maps end up flat by the end of the game which sucks. need i say more.
@@XenonArcher well that's not very realistic, if you blow up a building it will fall to the ground eventually and there are many campy spots in there aswell. Lol there are way more levolutions than that dude.
@@Simon-lu4gz I cannot think of a single soul who really cared about leveloution , at best it didn't do much and just looked cool, and at worst it would ruin the map (siege of Shanghai especially. as soon as that building went down it made the objective go from the best one to the worst one)
@@cykablyat2003have you guys really played bf4? Some levolutions are worse than others, but all of them change the map layout, opening new paths and closing others
@Prod.Kenshinnhard-line feels like a fever dream, I remember playing the beta and had a lot of fun, bought the game and didn't find that same sense of excitement as I did during the beta, and eventually went back to bf4
there's a small hand full of destructible buildings in the game and most of them weren't even there until people complained about lack of destruction and even then it was mediocre.
@@ed_does_bbwarztbf he didn’t specifically say going prone. He could try to frame it that he meant ‘taking cover’ but yeah you prolly caught him out on this one lol
Just have to say Bad Company was the first BF game I played and I had played some CoD before. But the destruction was a mind opener. I mean just to be able to somewhat shape the battlefield to your needs or liking was just awesome and spectacular. And a game changer.
I was in middle school with that game. Okaying rush on Valparaiso once, joking w buddy how cool it’d be if I shot my GL @ helicopter.. did work. Mind blowing for 12 years old. Halo & Battlefield have been my favorite Xbox FPS gameplay. Also Ghost Recon & Gears. I’m trying to get a gaming PC & get into Arma mods.
@@marcushanson1647Yes agree very true. Rush became less and less with every new BF game, sadly. Really unfortunate it peaked that early. Tbh I don't play multiplayer that much anymore in general for this reason.
I miss Battlefield so much, just the chaos that would happen everyone fighting to get up the tower, these 10 minute shootouts in the train station. Great times :(
Battlefield 1 looks insane. I didnt enjoy the game as much as previous games but the destruction on every map but especially that dessert one felt sooo good
For those of us who were there, think about how lucky we were to have experienced Battlefield 3 during its peak year(s). While I still wish I could experience those memories of playing late at night with friends again, I think we can all agree those were special times and given how short it was, appreciate how lucky we were to get to experience it 😭❤️ BF4 also included of course, but BF3 will always hold that special spot for me
I think BF1 did a good job of making destruction work gameplay wise. I can’t even tell you the number of MCOMs I destroyed in BC2 by simply bringing down the building from a half mile away in a tank.
It's also important to note most buildings in maps prior to 2042 were destructible and most buildings in 2042 are not. Also there's a special place in my heart for the levelution that was present in BF4, it completely changed how maps were played based on whether the event was triggered or not
