I love the fenix 7 with its looks and feels, I wish there was an AMOLED variant though because that would be very epic for sure. I'm currently tracking all my runs on an Apple watch SE but the battery life and the accuracy aren't that great, winning this giveaway therefore would be very sweet. Thanks guys for this explainer and I look forward to seeing more content.

I started running in lockdown, with my first steps being Couch to 5k. I bought a Forerunner 245 in late 2020, and it has been brilliant, but I started to get a bit adventurous with my running, and the 245 battery gave up in the 99th km of Race to the Stones (my longest and so far only 100km run). Doh! Whilst the high end watches are amazing, practically speaking I need a 955 - it is wearable the whole time, functionally accomplished, and HAS A LONGER BATTERY LIFE! 🤣 Keep up the good work Running Channel - you're great.

Started about 7 months ago with a Samsung watch, before I moved onto Garmin because I wanted a system that factors in health and activity in training plans. 700km later managed to run 5k under 30 minutes. The insight into running data these watches provide is beyond what I first thought. Both for new and advanced runners it transforms your exercises and makes your running experience more enjoyable. Each watch seems very difficult to beat yet the next model always improves, really does provide a watch for everyone and some budget friendly options

I currently have the Forerunner 45 which has definitely served me well for the past 2 years but as I look to increase the distance and intensity of my training, the 45 really is showing its limits whether it be in terms of battery life or data. The 955 really looks like one of the most complete watches for almost any athlete and it would definitely be a plus in my prep for an upcoming semi-marathon I am looking to compete in. I've been running for the past 6 years now, but approximately 3 years ago I brought the Forerunner 45, and it's still holding strong! I never knew the benefit that running with pace would have on my training, but it significantly improved my ability. Next year I'm aiming to complete a marathon, and in the hot Australian sun, the solar 955 would fit right in place 😁

Just started running again a couple months ago after over 20 years of avoiding it, not remembering how good I felt mentally and physically after running regularly. It has been a great way to have an activity my son and I enjoy doing together, we've done a few short 1-2 mile "races" since I started. I will probably get the Garmin 55 due to my just starting back into this, though the 255 would be a better option for longer term especially with the full navigation, the 955 is just too hard to justify this early in starting my running habit.

I'm a sophomore in highschool and I joined cross country last year. I realized how much I love to run and how necessary a good watch is. My current watch is a first generation Venu SQ with heavy scratches and a battery that isn't great anymore. The longest run I've gone in was a 9.79 mile run in 1:10:02 (7:09pace). My goal is to run a half marathon this summer in under 1.5 hours, and a new watch would really help!

@@ManpreetSLThe main things that I was looking for was a longer battery life, music and map support. I ended up upgrading myself to the Venu 2 Plus. Started running. Got a 220 which changed everything. Could see how far and how fast. Upgraded to Fenix 5 which was awesome! Just upgraded to Fenix 7 when the 5 failed. Feature set is fantastic and I wear is every day.

My now deceased 735 served me well. Would love a 955 in the Xmas stocking 😊 The running series watches suit me best. I particularly like the option to create multi-discipline events, like SwimRun. This functionality was instrumental to my training for my first SwimRun event and getting hooked on the sport.

Looking to upgrade from my Forerunner 235 soon, so this video is really useful. The 235 has been great and with the IQ apps I was able to get breadcrumb navigation and swimming features too which has meant I've got far more out of it than I expected. The 255 looks like a decent update to this, but I would like maps, so am between that or going all in on a Fenix or FR 955.

What a line up of watches. I have had the Vivoactive 4 and the forerunner 645. Both still happily ticking along. Battery life just starting to diminish on the 645 but I use it all day every day and for every sport, including kayaking and surfing etc. as well as running. Great round up and I now have my eye on a couple of these. When's Christmas? 🎅

Bought my first Garmin in 2016. A Fenix 3. This watch motivated me to run my first half-marathon. My current Fenix 6x Pro took me to my PB best half-marathon in 1:36. I have to admit that my garmin changed my life.

I’ve been using the Garmin in Vivoactive 4s for 3 years now and I’ve loved it! With my new goal of running a marathon I am now considering the garmin 255 or 955, but after watching this video I’m leaning more towards the 955. Thank you for this awesome comparison video, just enough information without being hours long!

I've had the 245 music for 4 years, fantastic watch but if you're gonna do a marathon I'd go the 955 too, more music storage, harder to get bored with your music on those longer runs 💪 Best of luck with the marathon, no problem 😊👌

Back to running for fun + mental health since the last 2 years initially with a borrowed Fitbit charge 2, soon upgraded to my own charge 5. While running was completely fun, no-real-plan no-fancy-watch activity during college days, I'm loving all the data available through a band on my wrist now! Would be fantastic to start race training with a forerunner 955 in the new year!!

Ordered my first smartwatch - a venu 2 plus - and absolutely stoked to use it!! She's arriving on the 6th but I can barely wait! Used to run 5 to 6 kms regularly but after COVID hit me twice, I had to take a break but I'm slowly getting back to 1.75 kms. Looking forward to getting back to my old self and getting even better 💪🏃 Also, congratulations to the person who gets to win the 955 🥳🎊

Ran my first marathon in November 2021, then had my first baby in August 2022. Recently started running again and am looking for a running watch to help me on my journey! Definitely feel like I’m starting from scratch but know that I can do it. I think the Garmin 55 would probably be good enough for me, but a 955 sure would be fun ☺️

I never realised how useful having a running watch was until my partner convinced me to try out Garmin. 5 months down the line with my FR255s by my side, I've been making PRs and seeing my health (and vo2 max!) improve a significant amount!! Never regretted the purchase once!!

I currently am using a Garmin Forerunner 645 and I have been using it for about 4 years. I'm intrigued by the new brighter displays of the Garmin series of watches for running, and the new features contained within the 955 watch would really be a nice enhancement to my training for my next marathon. I'm glad to see these improvements to the Garmin product lines.

Top video. i startet with an vivoactive 3, then with a forerunner 45, instinct 2 solar, forerunner 255 and now the epix gen 2. this watch is so so nice, it does all i want and the screen is just insane. battery life is quiet impressive for an amoled screen, 5-6 days with almost daily workouts.

Thanks for the detailed comparison Andy and the team! I'm looking for a replacement for my Polar Vantage M, and am torn between the Forerunner 955 and the Fenix. I prefer the aesthetic of the Fenix, but the lighter weight of the Forerunner (from what i've felt) might be the key deciding factor for me. I am a fan of the Polar watches, but just find the Garmin app and software more intuitive to use, hence why I will be switching brands for my next watch. Thanks for all the great videos The Running Channel team! :)

Buying a Garmin watch really gave me a huge boost when getting back into running a few years ago. Even the older models are great, and can be had at great prices. If you're happy to lag behind the latest trends a little, then you can certainly get a higher specced watch for a great price. I am currently using a Forerunner 245 and it's great. Most of the features of the 255, and while I don't get the newer features as they are added to software updates, it is more than sufficient for my needs.

Thanks for this video, it was super useful - I'll potentially be shopping for a new Garmin in the January sales, as I have a very elderly Forerunner 45 and I'd love some route planning functionality so that I don't have to write key turns and street names on my forearm in biro when I'm running in a new place! Training for a half marathon PB attempt in the spring, so a new watch would really help with that winter training motivation! The 255 and the 955 look amazing.
