The breeder told us our goldendoodle wouldn't get over 40. She's nearly an adult and is 60 pounds. 😂 But she's an amazing sweet-tempered, loving dog and would not trade her for anything.
Since Goldendoodles are a mixed breed, it’s often hard to tell! How large were the parent dogs? Usually breeders underestimate the weight in my experience because most people want miniature or medium doodles.
Does it have any health problems? We’re in the market for one but can’t decide between the mini or medium. The standard is too big for us but I’m not sure if the Medium is small enough.
My goldendoodle is one of those 'outliers'. He was the runt of the litter. Both parents weighed 45lbs. I was told to expect 35-40. Ringo is a healthy (not overweight) 56lbs. Go figure.
Dogs can have 🦃🐔🐓 and chicken without skins and Salmon 🐟 fish and green beans without seasonings spinach 🥦 broccoli 🥕 carrots potatoes baked or boiled sweet🍠🥬🥒greens and cucumbers 🍎 apples canteloupe 🍉 watermelon 🍐🍑 pears and 🍑 peach no 🍄 mushrooms onions or garlic no raisins or 🍇 grapes no 🥑 avocado.
I have a couple of doodles, the first I got was a mini goldendoodle named Mae. She’s 18 pounds, 2 years, she is the sweetest dog I’ve ever had. She’s not super mindful because she so exciteable, but she did learn a trick my parents taught a lab/border collie before I was born that I’ve carried forward. You tell her “circus” and she’ll jump up into your arms so you can catch her, and it’s her best recall because she loves doing it so much. “Come” may not work if she’s excited. My biggest warning is she’s not a toy breed even though she’s pretty little. I have never seen a faster sub 50 pound dog, and she is basically pure energy when she’s up. I love it, as I have had lots of fast herding breeds in my life, but I think lots of people could not handle Mae, she and her Eskipoo “sister”(American Eskimo and toy poodle) are what I call the Goofus Sisters, after Highlights Magazine, because they always get up to low key shenanigans. Frankie the Eskipoo is the smartest dog I’ve ever had, but she’s also a trouble maker and brings Mae along. She’s a little smaller than Mae at 15 pounds, and she knows a few dozen tricks, but she’s also sneaky and gets into trouble when you aren’t watching. TL:DR, my experience with mini goldendoodles is they are super nice, but lots of work and not a toy breed that’s cool just sitting around. Mine is a 18 pound, 35+ mph runner that lives to fetch and demands attention. She will literally bring a ball nearby and lightly grab your hand in her mouth and take it to the ball. She fetches an hour or so a day typically. When I come home when I go in to work (I telework a few days a week) she jumps 4-5 feet in the air she’s so happy because we’re going to play when I come home.
Hi, I really admire how you relocated your home because your pup grew and exceeded the weight limit. My apartment doesn’t allow pets, but when my lease is up I’m adopting a goldendoodle. No matter where I live, my dog will come first and if I have to move to keep them, I absolutely will! :)
I've noticed that size is hard to predict when it's the first generation of a Golden Retriever and poodle mix. When breeders mix two goldendoodles together the size is much more predictable. My dog was two mini goldendoodles bred together and he was the exact same size as his 20 pound parents
Mine is also F1. They told me to expect 30, but he could get to 40 because he is a first generation. At 7 months, he's just under 20 and my vet says he's very healthy. I'm so thankful he's in my life. He's got the natural good traits of both breeds to build on.
I had a female Goldendoodle (Holly), and she weighed in at 65lbs (standard). I miss her terribly; she passed away after 12 years. My kids grew up with her and loved her, she was the best dog I ever owned (I have had a lot of dogs too). I would get another one, but kids are in college, and I work too much. I plan to get another once I retire. You won't regret buying this breed they are so loving and fun.
I’ve always referred to my mini Doodle as a micromini bc he’s only 17 pounds. I had no idea that there were 2 sub categories for minis. Guess I’d better start referring to him as a toy doodle or just mini doodle. 🤷🏼♀️

I have a standard Aussiedoodle. Im looking for a new friend for her. She’s still a puppy, but I think either another Aussiedoodle or a Goldendoodle will do great! Suggestions? I swear - puppy fever is no joke.
Go for it! My Goldendoodle's best friend is an Aussiedoodle. You can't really go wrong with either. I would just suggest that you try to match them in size. One dog that is bigger can play rougher with a smaller dog.
@@HeavenLee1 she was 14lbs at 4 months so close to your pup! I was thinking I wasn't feeding her enough when I saw other doodles getting bigger than her but the vet said she was perfect. Other pups from her litter are 25-30 lbs.
I think I might have the largest golden doodle. 2 years old. 27.5 inches at the shoulder and weighs 140 pounds. And no, he's not overweight. We actually underfeed him due to him having double hip dysplasia.
We rescued what was what we were advised would be a mini as the mother was 20# and father was 18# Golden Doodles. Well now that Bentley is seven months old he has become a standard. Wow. Our first golden doodle was diffidently a large standard but passed after a stroke at the age of 13 almost two yrs. ago.

This video should also state that doodles require regular (monthly) grooming and for people to check grooming prices to make sure they consider that expense when choosing what size doodle is best for them. The bigger the dog the more a groomer charges.
Yes, we 100% agree. Doodles need to be groomed every 6-12 weeks. The prices where we live range from $130-150 for a mini to standard Goldendoodle. Valid point!
And get them started early to get use to the environment. My boy's first visit was at 4 months. I worked with him for 2 weeks before taking him in. The sound of the clippers and dryer can be unnerving for some. The groomer was very grateful for the pre-appointment work I did. She said he was very well-behaved.
We have a F1b goldendoodle and he is 65lbs doesn’t look like he weighs that much. Just got another goldendoodle f1 he is supposed to be a medium size so we will see how big he gets.
My 4 month old golden doodle is 18.5 lbs. already. Mom & dad are both ~45 lbs. our groomer thinks he will be bigger than his parents. We have no clue but thankfully are moving into a new home with a big yard next door to a dog park! 😂
That’s a huge pup! What are you feeding them? 😂 but in all seriousness sometimes doodles hit growth spurts early. Around 10-12 months their weight will start to stabilize. We though our Goldendoodle was going to be huge when we first got him.
I think my family should have a medium one because we certainly do have a large house but not insanely large. It'll be perfect. But my family doesnt want a big dog or a insanely small dog. So this'll be perfect. It's been a pain looking for dogs. Yeah :)
Yes. We aren’t a fan of the teacup size since they are typically bred with a toy poodle and the runt of a litter to get smaller and smaller sizes. However, each breeder does it differently.
F1B is a generation of Goldendoodle. Typically, an F1 Goldendoodle backcrossed to a Poodle is an F1B. The size of a Goldendoodle (i.e. Medium) has nothing to do with the generation! I hope that helped!
Our Ranger's father was 2nd generation Goldendoodle, and his mom was "mostly" Golden Retriever. Both his parents are in the 40-60 pound range. But somehow Ranger is weighing in at 80+ pounds at 10 months. 😄 Fortunately, he's responding well to obedience training. 🙂
I was told and his paperwork says he's a mini but he is 73 pounds. I think 🤔 he's a standard. His name is Binx. And he does shed, not hair but fuzz. I have to vacuum every day.
@@Star_xoxo-jp9qf then you have one that’s a product of two mixes. The non shedding gene is recessive in the poodle. You need to have this recessive gene in both parents for a chance at having a non shedding dog

Haha I like telling people *Toy* instead of *Micro.* It makes more sense to me with her dad being a mini poodle. And then I use "Mini" as a blanket term to mean, "any small doodle that isn't a Standard."
Some breeders will call a toy Goldendoodle if it’s bred with a toy Poodle and a very small Golden Retriever. I would be hesitant if they were an F1 since it will be larger than you expect.
