@@tonyp.1463 Well I'll be -- lots of other sources concur. A site called information please said that separate lakes must be connected by streams or rivers and Michigan and Huron are connected by a strait that is not a separate waterway. And M and H have the same altitude. These two facts make Michigan and Huron separate lobes of a single lake.... Sites form the universities of Michigan and Wisconsin agree. One site says: "Lake Huron-Michigan, at 45,300 mi2 / 117,400 km2 is technically the world's largest freshwater lake. This is because what have traditionally been called Lake Huron and Lake Michigan are really giant lobes of a single lake connected by the five mile wide Strait of Mackinac."

@@girldaddividendinvestor The Metro Area does. Counting cities based on their municipal boundaries is an extremely obsolete concept that should not have carried on past World War II. Ever since the post-war era Americans have identified themselves with their metropolitan area, not the municipality they live in. If you live in Gibraltar, Michigan you are going to tell people you are from Detroit. I'm using Gibraltar, Michigan as an example because it is both on Lake Erie and within metro Detroit. I'm from Chicago. A good summary video of the current situation of the Great Lakes. I think your intro does a good job at summing up some parts of the midwest towns you mentioned compared to the northeast region of the USA. I a have feeling though that if some of the worst scenario predictions of human made climate change come true then I get the impression that the Great Lakes region will see a massive amount of people moving to it. I write that for both the American and the Canadian sides. So I say enjoy some of those towns the way you described them while that lasts. Before more people move to them. I suppose smaller towns could also just pop up as a result. I enjoyed the video, good job.

I will note that Duluth's metro area population is a bit misleading. Due to MSAs being officially recognized at the county level, the Duluth-Superior MSA is enormous, goes all the way from the shores of Lake Superior to the border with Canada. Lake County was officially added to the MSA in 2018 and the total area is now 10,522.7 square miles. The area that most people would reasonably consider the "Duluth Metro Area" (the urban core with Duluth, Superior, Proctor, Hermantown, Village of Superior, Oliver and Rice Lake and the immediately surrounding townships) has a population of ~150,000.
