I love it that someone is finally making tutorials that help us learn what to buy, what essentials are needed and how they work! There are SO MANY options now to choose from that it is confusing. Oxide sprays, alcohol inks, ink pads, brushos, to name a few! Thank you Brandy for taking the time to do this.
Loving your beginner videos, so many helpful tip. Just one question. What do you use to clean the whisper white ink and versa mark ink off your stamps?
Oh my!! LOVED it and what I found so interesting is that it was somewhat close to my video on stamp pads....hmm, may need to check to see that i actually uploaded mine...eeks!! I know I recorded it a few days ago. Better go check! Awesome! Thank you! PatriciaD
Hi Patricia, You are too funny!! I hope you've published it as it will be so helpful to so many. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind note. I hope you are doing well. Your videos have been awesome!!! I've enjoyed them so much. Big Hugs!!
thank you for sharing... Question what do you have on top of your reinker bottles to show you which colors they are? Can I ask where did you get your marker holder behind you when your filming? can you show how the heck to fill the white craft ink pad? I made mess with mine and could never stamp with it out it getting everywhere.
Thanks for stopping by!! Sure, in past years Stampin Up has offered small coordinating dots with adhesive behind them. I just stuck them to the tops of my reinkers so that I could see what colors they were from the top. It's not a perfect system but I can certainly pull up the pinks and find the one I'm looking for. Sure, the marker holder can be found here:brandyscards.com/live-craft-room-tour/. If you scroll down to the bottom you'll see all the items I use in my room along with links to purchase them. Hope that helps! Sure, my Video #5 is all about reinking. I will be sure to cover that.
I really liked your explanation of all the stamps. I have purchased a few colors but this helps to understand the catalog. I wish you would have video on storage options of supplies. Not everyone can have your room.
??????? Can you help me? I have I’ll pads and refills since 2000. I have bought the new inks but I have refills from the beginning and now? I can’t tell what refill to use. I don’t see dates
Thank you! How wonderful! I am from Oz and new to cardmaking and stamping…Would you recommend any other types of stamp pads, or are stamping up ones the best quality?
I just want to say thank you for doing these videos on the basics. I have been making cards for 30 years, off and on, and I am loving these refresher courses!🙂
Hi thanx for this lovely informative video, much appreciated. I wanted to ask, maybe you could assist with a tip, I live in South Africa and bought a StazOn Koala Grey, this was about six months ago more or less, I only opened it today, but to my dismay it is as dry as the desert🤣🤣🤣, is there a way to rejunivate it? Or save it in anyway, I could not get the reinker for this colour as yet, what can I do?🤷♀️🤔
Have you ever heard of the principle of reciprocity?? Stop trying to sell!!! Just add value, do what you said you would do or the viewer feels duped!! Ugh 🤮
Thank u Brandy. Is there a cost 4 the PDF on this video? I really appreciate u taking the time 2 break down what inks can b used with what markers, etc. How long do we let the. Inks dry b4 continuing on with our projects? This is very helpful. Have a great night.
Hi Amy, Thanks for stopping by. No cost for the PDF... my hope is to help you along your stamping and card making journey. You can find the PDF downloads at brandyscards.com/beginners. Sure, our colored classic inks dry quickly. Memento Black & StazOn Black also dry quickly but I generally give it 20-30 to dry before coloring the image with a marker.
I’ve learned a lot by watching your videos, but I have a question about scrap paper. How do you store it? Any tips would be appreciated, I’ve been using zip lock bags, but o thought you may have a better system. Thanks in advance!
Great tutorial... LOL, I never realized that there were stickers on the bottom... I had to go and check and sure enough all my ink pads have them. :) Thank you.
Hi Brandy! Thank you I am so happy to have found this series tonight!! I have been confused about the ink pads. This has helped but I can’t seem to find the link to the little information sheet you talked about it the video. Can you help me find the ink information sheet?? Thanks
Hi Brandy. I was hoping you talked about the stampinup black in. Having trouble with mine. It stays wet for a very long time. I stoped using it because it would smear, even when I let it dry overnight. Any idea as to why this is happening?
Hi Wanda, Thanks for stopping by!! Sure, which black ink are you using? If you are using our old Stampin Up Archival Black... it takes forever to dry. Stampin Up wasn't happy with that so they discontinued that type of ink. Check and see which Black Ink you are using and let me know!
Hi Brandy, Watched replay. What a wonderful presentation. Well done. I've been stamping for quite sometime, however, I have revisited your wonderful tips. Great tutorial.
Thank you so very much. You answered my question I was wondering about…now I know what ink pads I need to purchase…Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us…you are the BEST!
Thak you for all the good information. I will be printing the pdf for reference and also giving one to my Granddaughter who is just beginning her card making. She surpasses me with ideas for sure :)
Hi Tami, Thanks for stopping by. That's a great question. The dry time can vary based on weight / type of paper, humidity etc. I would say it takes 2-3 minutes to dry. Because it's a slow drying, sticky ink it's perfect for embossing. I love VersaMark and use it often!
Hi Brenda, Good Evening!! It was so nice talking with you today. I really enjoyed it and look forward to getting to know you and enjoy this crafting journey together. Hugs!!
HI Kitty, That's a great question. Yes, VersMark does dry on it's own. You don't have to heat set it. It just takes a couple minutes because it's a sticky pigment ink. It's a fabulous!!
You'll want to store the stamp pads you'll want to store them with the Stampin Up Label up. They should be stored in a horizontal position. You can stack them on top of one another with the new redesign. When you close the stamp pad, the firm foam ink pad (on the inside), will be upside down. This keeps the ink near the surface for future stamping. Hope that helps. ;)
Hi Annette, That's a great question!! I'm not to sure about temperature; however, if you have problems with pads leaking it sounds like maybe they are very juicy. You could use a paper towel and dab up some of the ink. And just to be sure... you want to store your stamp pads in a horizontal position. If you store them in vertical position or on their side this could absolutely allow them to leak. I hope that helps!! Sending Big Hugs!!
Hi Debbie, Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate it and hope you enjoy my projects and tutorials. Sure, I'm a US Demonstrator. Hope that helps!! Brandy
I was told a long time ago to put a couple of stampin dimentionals between the protective cover and the lid of the Stazon pad. When you open it, it pulls the clear cover off. But, when you close it, it gives just enough pressure to keep the clear cover tight.
Thank you so much for bringing us information time after time. This really helps with card making. Again thank you and Blessings to you & your family..Hugs!!!
I adore you Brenda!! You are the sweetest. Thank you for this kind note and for joining me. It makes me so happy to know these videos are helpful and useful. My hope is inspire others to start stamping and making cards. I want to pass this blessing on to others!! Hugs, Brandy

Well organized presentation on the basics. I always pick up tips, like putting the name strip on the front and sides of the stamp pad. Thank you, Brandy!
So happy to finally understand the different inks, as well as the tips for opening & closing the colored stamp pads. The vaseline tip was especially helpful for closing the stamp pads. Thank you for sharing all this info! I still consider myself a beginner stamper.
Just learned a lot! Thank you. I'm looking forward to printing out the pdf sheet for reminders. This series is being helpful. When starting with Stampin Up, a lot of basics aren't necessarily out there in writing. That's why these are so helpful.
Hi Sue, Thanks for watching and for enjoying my videos. Sure, I wish I had some of these resources when I starting. I'm glad to share them and so happy they are helpful!! You can download the PDF here: brandyscards.com/beginners
Hi Linda!! Thanks for stopping by. Oh, you should absolutely put your stickers inside your ink pads. It's wonderful when you are stamping. You can see exactly what color is in front of you. Awesome!! Hugs, Brandy
Hello Brandy, I have been Stampin Up for over 30 years, and this is the first that I have seen this type of instructions as we begin. Thank you, thank you so much for putting this together and sharing.
Great Question!! You should store it horizontally with the lid at the top. The stamp pad is on the bottom. The case design is very different from our classic inks.
Thank you Brandy for all your ideas, tricks and tips. I keep learning more and more from you through every video I watch that you present. I look forward to seeing more videos by you. Thanks again. Susan from Clarkston, Michigan. 😊😊🥰
Thank you for this video! I'm new to Stampin' Up Stamp Pads, so this will help! I do know that not all stamp pads are equal! I already have Memento Tuxedo Black ink, so all I need now are colors! (I also have the Versa Mark pad, & love using it!!)
While you made this tutorial a while ago, it is great re-watching (and re-learning). We're never too old to learn/re-learn. Thanks for sharing. Lorraine (from Australia)
This was a big help to me because I can't remember things well so I took notes and will also have a copy of your download page. But I bought some supplies from a person ending her stamping journey and I ended up with 11 different brands of ink, and after I watched your clip I know what I'm reading or looking for on each pad and how to use them. Thank you so much for the information.
Thank you for this video, it was so helpful and the tip on opening the ink pad I always had ink on my fingers from trying to open the ink pads.. Thank you again for all the extra's you do for your stamper's.
