The original EDT will always have a special place in my heart. It was my signature fragrance when I was in high school over 15 years ago, my dad gifted me a bottle and I felt like a million bucks going into school wearing it every day.
I always thought Profumo was a dead ringer for my dad's old bottle of 90's ADG. Maybe with a bit of incense added, but he was very impressed with it adter having been upset with the reformulation of the original. I think lovers of the 90s original will also be happy with the new Parfum.
Im so a fan of adg parfum. I feel like i’ve grown up with these, i have them all, now 30 years old, i feel comfortable wearing le parfum everyday. I wouldn’t have worn something like that 7 years ago
I've only ever used the edt, 23+ years now. Didn't even know there were diff versions. I didn't even know edt had a formulation change but I did always think my 90s version smelled better. I just thought it was due to getting knockoffs or something. 😂 I also thought that edts, edps, parfums were simply different concentrations. I wanted a stronger ADG but am now hesitant hearing there are actual differences in the fragrances, not just concentration...
It's weird that people aren't fans of the EDP. I think they're listening to too many influencers downplay it. Alberto Morillas doesn't create bad formulas, and I'm certain Armani ran many trials before releasing. To me, it's a perfect maturation of the original.
It's not a bad fragrance, in fact I like it much more than competitors like Sauvage, but I think it was created as a rebranding of the discontinued Essenza and if you've smelled Essenza the EDP doesn't do it justice. Also it was created right after Profundo which probably kept it from getting more attention. On the other hand I find Parfum to be an acceptable rebranding of Profumo. It seems all they did was tweak the incense note a bit to make it less prominent likely because of all the reviewers who said Profumo smelled like an old man. I never thought that myself as to me it just smelled like an attractive wealthy guy driving his sports car on the road next to the beach at night. But hey these reviewers have more sway over companies than ever now so I'm not surprised. My other favorite ADG are Absolu which I've heard is also discontinued and Profundo Lights which I believe will be the next to get discontinued.
@@winnienguyen4420But why some can't just enjoy the new Eau De Parfum, it may have been inspired by Essenza, hell Essenza was probably the OG Eau de Parfum of the OG smellwise, ofc many people consider it to be the new Essenza because of the bottle but then again, Essenza had a similar design with that silver chrome cap and clear bottle to Fierce from 2006-2010, now AdG has a black wooden cap like Fierce had from 2010-2019 😁 its just sleek and nice. Its not because reviewers said Profumo smelled like an old man, but because people around the world on the street, normal consumers especially girls and women felt it smelled like an older man not attractive, also not awkward but just bold and old - if something you tried did catch people to like new the trend goes often to update to modern taste to appeal to the crowd, to the people of the world and they did so with EdP and new Parfum.
I liked the EDP version. But the original DNA was as close as possible to the Profumo version and for me this is very important. EDP is just a combed Profondo, without the ambroxan note, but with the addition of vetiver. EDP and Profondo remind me a little of OG. Yes, they are made very well and on them you can receive compliments. But this is a matter of taste.
I bought a small ADG EDT for my wedding and honeymoon so whenever I smell that one, I have a sentimental attachment to the scent. So from a biased perspective I’ll take the original!
What a fantastic resource! I’m a little late to the Acqua di Gio party. Started wearing EDT about a year and a half ago, bought a second, larger bottle, and get so many compliments. I personally love the scent, and it just works with my body’s chemistry. Looking to scale up with a longer lasting, more robust version. Couldn’t decide what to pull the trigger on. You helped me decide… and I’m ordering a bottle from Armani now. Thanks a ton!
I need to try these ones. Personally don’t like Profumo right now but profondo, profondo lights and Absolu instinct have made me grow into enjoying the ADG DNA that everyone loves so I look forward to revisiting Profumo
Profundo lights is a ridiculously good release, but unfortunately I think it's going to take discontinuation to make people realize how good it actually was. If it is discontinued then they have discontinued all my favorite ADG releases starting with Profumo and Absolu.
I have many top tier fragrances and adg parfum is definitely my current signature. The smell is so damn captivating and pulls so many compliments. Love it!
This is my favorite line and I own them all. My favorite are Parfum, EDT, Profondo & EDP in that order. They're all good fragrances though and you really can't go wrong with either one of them. So if you catch a really good sale, just buy it!
@@Den_Hi I have both and it’s the same formula, ur probably forgetting that older bottles sit and smell different. May smell better to you because of chemical changes due to time and evaporation of fluid with every spray. Less water=more concentrated.
I bought the EDT when it first came out as an eighth grader. There is no way to beat how that smelled in that moment. That being said the EDP is a very good second.
I agree, one of the best DNA's ever for Men. My favorite out of all the flankers is the EDP. Admittedly I haven't tried the new Parfum yet. My thoughts may change after that who knows. I also really like Absolu Instinct
I have not smelled the Instinct version but regular Absolu is ridiculously underrated because people blew it off as an Invictus clone. In reality it smells much better than Invictus and if I'm not mistaken it maybe discontinued as well.
@@winnienguyen4420 Absolu Instinct is great. It has a darker ebony woods note to go along with it. Highly underrated IMO. Absolu is good too I agree better than Invictus to Me as well.
The first Acqua Di Gio was Profumo. It was love at first sniff. Then I bought OG and I really liked it too. Longevity was the same on my skin - 6-8 hours, but Profumo had more sillage. Now Profumo is gone, and there is a new Parfum I wasn’t impressed. Yes, it reminds me of Profumo, but it’s weaker, it came off the skin after 2 hours, and the price is much higher. That’s why I bought another 200 ml bottle of OG and I’m just enjoying it. My choice is Acqua Di Gio pure homme.
Aqua di Gio (the original) HITS HARD! My brother swears by this and goes through bottles like ice water on a hot day😂. I recently got me a sample and I plan to get a full bottle of my own to put in my summertime rotation!
I ran EDT as my signature scent from late high school up to my professional career. I went to Creed Green Irish Tweed as more of a classic scent, but now I'm looking back at the ADG line. Funny thing is, my 15 y/o son now swiped my bottle of EDT and is running it as his everyday, which I think is perfect for him for how his day plays out with school and practice. He doesn't need 10 hours of longevity, 6 is plenty. But looking back at ADG, I'm pleasantly surprised that the scent has matured with EDP and Parfum availability.
I suspected that when they created Adg EDP that what they had done was taken the discontinued Essenza and tweaked it a bit and repackaged it as a new flanker so it doesn't surprise me at all that they would do the same with Profumo. Thankfully i do actually like the Parfum where as i was underwhelmed bigtime by the EDP. Essenza was truly better beforehand.
I am in a toss up between grabbing a bottle of Profumo and this new Parfum. Can you rank the performance of those two please? Is it worth paying nearly double for a bottle of the Parfum? Thank you!
Sorry for being a year late to the party. But I still loved the video! I'm one of them OG Armani Aqua DI GIO wearers 😆. I just absolutely LOVE this Fragrance and I swear there is some smells that just hurt my stomach to smell. Not this at all. My ONLY complaint is the lasting is only about 3-5 hours my experience only. Much respect nee sub here brother!
I just picked up a 2.5 oz bottle of Profumo at my local CVS for $81!!! There were two left when I left the store. I'm tempted to go back and get the other two. 🤔
If you want compiments Absolu is the best of the ADG lineup. It's also a great replacement for Invictus Aqua especially if you think other similar fragrances like Rasasi Hawas are too sweet or if MB Legend Spirit is too weak in performance for you.
The EDT used to be amazing, they watered it down sometime in the late 2000s. In January i bought a back up of Profumo because i hear it would be discontinued and having seen what the did to the original Dior Homme i have a hard time trusting reformulations... But i guess everyone in the community seems to think it's a banger. I'll have to try it out.
Idk whether these are all watered down now or not, or they want to sell the others at higher prices, but it is very rare to find ANY EDT that performs well.
Great review Ross. Do you think Armani will do another Absolu flanker... I contacted Armani Australia and we are still a few months away from the Parfum landing down under. Cheers and have a great day
After getting parfum my bottle is the 2023 formulation it smells so much better in my opinion to the EDT. Probably gonna save the EDT strictly for summer since I like that lighter pop it has compared to Parfum. But I’m right there with you with had to pick one it’s the Parfum so much more versatility.
I have profumo and parfum on both wrist right now. They are almost identical. I prefer Parfum (it suit me better) but I think profumo is slightly better. Parfum is slightly fresher, less spicy
My father’s signature was the original EDT. He loved fragrances but he always had strong loyalty for that one. I love the smell of it but now that he’s gone I have a difficult time wearing it. Love having his smell in a bottle though. Profondo is my personal fav in the line. I tried to love the EDP but the saltiness was a bit too much for me. Thanks for the comparison video Ross!
I always thought Profumo was a dead ringer for my father's old 90's bottle of ADG EDT. Sure it has added incense and patchouli, but it had that staying power that is lacking in modern ADG. Apparently he did too because he immediately preferred it over modern reformulated ADG which barely lasted an hour on him anymore. He had switched to Perry Ellis 360 red which is far better than modern ADG in it's own right but when he smelled Profumo he was blown away. I had bought him a small bottle for his birthday then he turned around and bought two more 6.7 ounce bottles online he loved it so much. He also tried Profundo and was underwhelmed but then tried Profundo Lights and said it was almost as awesome as Profumo. I'm now curious what his reaction to this new Parfum will be.
I bought the ADG Profumo and it was great. Had great projection and sillage. Lasted all day as well. The ADG parfum is good but the original Profumo I think was the best.
You mentioned that some people say the scent goes away after 2hrs, they are probably telling the truth and it really sucks why. I'll tell you why at the end of this comment. Anyway... For the past 20yrs I've only wore Acqua Di Gio EDT, however yesterday I ran out. Went to Macy's and the fragrance lady was trying to convince me to go with the Acqua Di Gio EDP. I wasn't convinced, so she persuaded me to test it for the day. She wss absolutely right. The very next morning I was back at Macy's for the Acqua Di Gio EDP. It smells almost exactly like the EDT but more potent and last 4x as long. That one test spray was still noticeable 24hrs later. As a side note. Please get your colognes/perfumes at a registered/authorized retailer. Acqua Di Gio is the number 1 most counterfeited fragrance. I've gotten counterfeit Acqua Di Gio five different times throughout the years from some well known online fragrance retailers, that looked exactly like the real deal and smelled very similar. The only reason I was suspicious was because the scent only lasted 2hrs max, the scent started smelling different after 10min. And also the straw in the bottle went straight down instead of curved. Armani customer service also verified they were fakes after sending pictures and gave a list of authorized retailers. My advice is to buy any expensive colognes/perfumes in-store at Macy's, Kohls, Dillard's, Belk, Sephora, ect... It's not worth saving $20 when the chances are so high of getting a convincing fake. Plus those places usually have really nice gift packages for the same price that usually includes a free travel size bottle of that cologne, body wash and a carrying bag/tote. So please learn from my mistakes and don't fall for the fake reviews and the enticing prices at alot of online retailers. BUY IN-STORE!!
or....you can buy from legitimate discounters online that have been established for many years. Like I discuss. Thank you for watching and commenting. If people want to spend extra because they aren't capable of doing proper research at this stage of modern technology, go for it
@@TLTGReviews like I said I got counterfeits from very well known online fragrance retailers. These counterfeits are so widespread and convincing they were even found in Walgreens, CVS, Target in-store and online store and in JC Pennys online store. The thought is people are buying the real thing at these stores, then putting a counterfeit in that box, re-sealing it and returning it. This was or still is being done at any online store that accepts returns, this is being done on a large organized scale. This is the reason why most reputable retailers won't accept returns on fragrances. Sorry if this info conflicts with your precious sponsors/advertisers but I would think you wouldn't want your subscribers to be well informed on what and where they spend their hard earned money. I'll make you a promise, I will re-watch this video just to take note of the exact fragrance sponsors you are pushing, i will research to see if people received counterfeits. If I can't find these complaints then I will delete my comment. Either way you should stop being so sensitive and taking offense to other people's opinions. I told my real life bad experiences/mistakes and how I avoid those mistakes, thats all. It's not a personal attack on you or your sponsors.
There are no sponsors to this video. Just seeing my comment section being treated like it's yelp and not my comment section. That's all. Opinions are welcome here. It seems more like a contradiction to what I discuss. So that is my issue. I'm not being sensitive. This is me addressing something in my comment section that could be and was read as an attempt at contradiction. Thank you for clearing up your intentions.
@@mcdonamw Damm, I know the feeling. Sorry that happened to you... I would suggest ordering from Macy's, Sephora or Kohl's. They all still have fragrance gift sets on sale + free 3-5 day shipping on any order over $49... I usually get my packages in 2-3 days. There might be other safe places to order from that might be a little cheaper. But to me paying a few extra dollars is worth knowing that I 100% received a legit product.
Yeah I have about half of a big bottle of Profumo left and had no idea it was being discontinued otherwise I would have quickly bought at least one more, I’ll get the Parfum in another month or so and give it a go
Please do all 3 2024 version. All 3 are quite different. EDT is much closer to what it was back in 1996. Parfum is so close to Profumo 2016, just not as strong but the incense patchuli is back, and a lot of it. EDP is in between and could be the best one in the original line.
I've just tested the Acqua di Gio Parfum, and its god damn amazing brother. Its probably safe to say i'm going to make this my signature fragrance, but i also have Versace Dylan Blue on my mind.
Yes especially with Absolu. They successfully made an Invictus Aqua style fragrance that kept it's ADG aquatic notes as well. In my opinion it's even better than the discontinued Invictus Aqua 2016 that goes for hundreds of dollars online now. Rasasi Hawas and MB Legend Spirit while great, are unfortunately just clones of Invictus Aqua 2016 and have nothing unique about them. Profumo, Absolu, and Profundo lights are the best of the ADG lineup to me but unfortunately it will take them getting discontinued for people to realize how good they really were.
@@winnienguyen4420 Rasasi hawas came out in 2015 but yeah I hear ya. Actually wearing that today and I had people chasin me haha. ADG hopefully continues to crank out super solid frags
@@winnienguyen4420 you’re probably right 😂 Currently, I’m loving Halloween man hero which is close to Invictus Aqua 2018. It’s synthetic as hell but man it’s got some staying power and is very nice. And cheap!!
Really can’t go wrong with any of the flankers my favorite is Profondo just something about that mineral note is so good 2nd is a toss up between profumo and Absolu then the edp then any of the other 3 towards the bottom they cover a pretty diverse range while still having similar DNA there is at least 1 in the line every guy would like
Absolu is truly one of the sexiest scents on the market. It's a shame that most people blew it off as nothing more than an Invictus clone because it smells much more expensive and better quality than Invictus.
The older bottles of the EDT from the 90s that are still around have a yellow tinge. They took out the oakmoss from the older formulation. ... Acqua Di Gio use to be the #1 men's seller of all time. I'm not sure if that's still the case.
It's in there but they tamed it down a lot. I preferred the prominent incense in Profumo, but so many people were complaining that it had an old man vibe to it that i think Armani took notice and tweaked the incense note to make it less noticeable.
