This is Day 6 on the PetrolHead Tours Pyrenees & Alps 2024.
Today I jumped in with Andy in his Porsche 911 991.1 GT3 PDK in the morning, and then with Pete in his Toyota GR Yaris in the afternoon, both had their strengths and weaknesses, but fundamentally, they were both epic!

another wonderful video, Rick! It's tough for us sports car lovers to share beautiful roads with racing cyclists. Whilst us sports car drivers stick to our side of the road and do not put them at risk, we go much faster than them and they have no protection, so they are understandably freaked out when they suddenly come accros us going in the other direction with huge closing speeds. As long as the cyclists wholly stick to their side of the road with some margin for passing cars going the other way, then neither rider or driver should have anything to complain about.

There is no racing line it’s a public road. They aren’t idiots. I have cycled thousands of miles. Fair enough if you like fast cars as I do but you must expect hill climbing cyclists on those kind of roads. Give and take is the best policy. Just giving a balanced view.

They're usually in the middle of the road or our side of the road, especially coming out of a sharp bend, and then start flapping for us to move over, when we're on our side of the road. Entitled. When I mentioned racing line I was talking about them!

@@RickTheSpud’they are usually’ isn’t a good way of looking at it. The line an uphill bike will take is not the line a car will take for obvious reasons. You can’t call people idiots because they spoiled your chosen line. These channels aren’t a good way of expressing these ideas. It’s not easy to tell whether someone is angry or sarcastic for example. I’ve been driving, cycling and hold a motorcycle license for a long time. Cars including rally cars since 1974. I’ve raced mountain bikes and done a huge amount of long distance cycling. It gives you a different perspective. It’s not bragging. To change the tack a little, here’s an example of a cyclist being misunderstood. Recently I watched a RU-vidr commenting on a cyclist in the Lake District. He said what’s the guy doing in the middle of the road? Actually he was a metre and a half out from the curb. It’s necessary to do this because the gutters are full of debris and drainage grids. Another reason is that if you hug the curb you have nowhere to go when a vehicle cuts you too close AND THEY DO! Also the lakes roads are very narrow aren’t they. I also realise that we make ad lib comments when filming. I usually edit mine out. And they are many merchant bankers, or something sounding similar. 😂Nor hard feelings atb.

You can't be on the wrong side of the road if a car coming towards you is using it. It's his right of way. Simple.
