@@PeteVinniePlay My suggestion might be exaggerated, guys, because I was so excited with those riffs you played 😂. You could play fast leads that you like, not necessarily the fastest ones.

Ive found recently ( by recording and listening back ) that the guitar starts to loose its bite and the bass starts to loose punch around B Bflat and is almost entirely gone by G . That’s why for me drop C is the “heaviest “ tuning cause it still has max bite at that deep of a tone . Now I still love a lot of songs in drop A and below , and find them heavy AF , but there is palpable loss of aggression and energy .

I wasn't expecting the two lowest ones to be two riffs I do enjoy! Honestly, I think all the other ones suck. Not because of your playing, no simply because of the composition. In Flames and Slipknot make tasty riffs. Or maybe, this just proves that my ears get asmr from the low tunings. Thanks for the discovery!

I feel like the bass guitar and the kick drum help the most with heaviness, 'Cowboys From Hell' holds up amongst the other tracks and is only in E!

I think lamb of god are perfect at making the most of a higher tuning to make it heavy I can’t think of one riff they have that doesn’t slap

Thanks so much Daniel! Hmm I’d have to say that Drop C or B is my favourite (Pete here), because it’s low and chunky but it’s not so low that you start to lose a lot of gain from the sound. I’ll get Vinnie to share his favourite as well!

I know you guys covered it in the “it matters what the rest of the band is doing but more specifically the drum beat and the bass NOT simply mirroring the guitar player ( a problem too often seen in metal bands ) and trying to jam 37 notes in every measure are a bigger factor than the tuning or the actual riff .

Its a bitch to keep em in tune with the same string gauge when you drop in light gauge strings. Ernie ball cobalt 11-48 are thus far my fav. but I'm not as good as I try to make myself out to be either lol you guys are pretty good how did y'all stay in tune without changing strings? I guess its just the samples of songs so that would make sense. All in all though, pretty good stuff \m/ 😈 \m/
