Honestly, if you've got a Samsung tablet with Samsung Notes, especially with all the new features... You need absolutely nothing else. Not to mention that Samsung supports tens of languages in handwriting to text...
not sure if anyone know about this but samsung notes allow you to write your notes while you are viewing your document without the split screen. and you dont have to constantly move the note around because you can adjust the transparency of the note so it is like a translucent paper that is really nifty to draw graphs or diagrams off a document and onto your note.
omg thank you for much for that comment. I need a tablet for my biology lessons and I've seen the goodnotes features with the translucent tips for drawing 🧠 or anything else by putting an image from the internet directly on your app... Is it possible and efficient on Samsung notes? do you recommend the app? thank uu
For me, it's Samsung notes. Hands down. My favourite feature is definitely using the recording at the same time as the note taking. It is very useful in lectures as a backup plan if I missed something during the class or want to come back to what the professor specifically said. However, I wish it would let you at least see your notes on other devices. Like I cannot check my notes on my computer without having to convert my notes and it's a lot of work for something that could be done easier in another way. But I do understand that they want people to purchase their products so of course, they will keep their app exclusive! Thanks for this video. Great content, as usual.
@@Andrei-qi4tm yeah it does unfortunately. They are good with updates though. I just wanted to let them know they can get samsung notes on windows if they wanted to.
@@Andrei-qi4tm yes i heard that it lags someone commented on youtube thats why i deicided not to do it. But you can always sync your samsung notes via one note
After using a S10+ for 4 years, I bought a Google Pixel 6 Pro. Samsung Notes is just so intuitive, easy to use, and it's so hard to find an adequate alternative all-in-one-page note taking app. Google Keep separates checklists from standard note taking. These features in Evernote are locked behind a paywall. 🤷♂️ The adjustable widgets available for Samsung Notes that give you easy access to individual notes is also something that is surprisingly difficult to come by while also having the other features I want. Seriously, I was so spoiled with Samsung Notes. I will most likely be giving my Pixel 6 Pro back for an S21 Ultra because Samsung Notes enabled me to unlock another level of efficiency in my life that I didn't have before.
I'm using Samsung Notes on a Galaxy S6 Lite. I sometimes like to put bulleted or important lists from my notes into a container such as a sticky note with drawn pins/thumb tacks at the top, or a banner. The containers make the lists pop out in my notes. It's not just the ability of Samsung notes to import images. I think it may also be the Samsung clipboard features. If I import a banner or sticky note image, I can as you mentioned, crop it and resize it. If I select the image with a lasso, I then copy it to the clipboard. For clipboard management, I can highlight the image in the clipboard and lock it. I can, at anytime, delete all the images that are not locked. Anytime I need a locked image, I just call up the clipboard to insert it. I select the image and send it to the background. Then I lay the bullet list on top of the image.
Same, i have both iphone and tabS7 I used tab S7 mostly for gaming using bluetooth mouse & keybaord and V3 shooting apps (not supported on ios), write notes, drawing, using microsoft office, watch moviews
You're totally right, I forgot to mention that. And also, this same functionality applies when double tapping the apple pen (it changes to the eraser) :)!
Not being able to change the font in Samsung Notes is a major drawback. This is a basic feature that should have been implemented from the start, yet here we are in 2022 and they STILL have not implemented this feature
@@Gaurav-hj2vy I have the Tab S7 and I love it. You can go into Dex Mode and use it like a computer, which works even better if you have the keyboard cover. Dex Mode is like the love child of a chrome book and windows 10. One of the things I love about android tablets is that they are easier to plug into your computer and just drag and drop files. I've always had more troubling copying stuff between iPhones and windows but with android it's easier.
You can also press on the written text to get to the exact point in the voice recording at which it was said. Which is very cool in my opinion. Samsung did a great job.
What a detailed comparison! You never fail to give amazing insights. Using Samsung notes for quite a time now and it's amazing. Although my course CA(like CPA in US) didn't allow me to do digital note taking as I have to practice lot of sums and theory & speed is a great factor which is not possible in digital note taking. But I keep using it for shoet notes and topics. Your videos are really helpful. Keep the good work👍🙂
I'm using Samsung Notes for my high school notes, but I think Goodnotes would work better for me. Unfortunately I can't afford iPad so Samsung is a great bugdet option that works similar. Good comparison btw
@@NK-es1im I'm afraid of getting slow on Samsung. The phone which I bought 5 yrs ago gone slow af but iPhone or iPad works like its first day. I'm so between these. I don't know which to buy, it's for long usage. I can afford iPad Air 5 256GB. All friends say "Get iPad, don't pay for a device which will be slow after 2-3 yrs"
Thanks for this comparison, I think the most useful feature that Samsung notes lacks is the document viewer i hope that they will add it in the next update
The major thing i hate about samsung notes is whn u export files as pdf, they wouldn't have the quality of pdf. and i can only import pdf's to the app. it would be also great if they added new fonts to the typed notes, and effects to handwritten one's.
I have bought ipad pro 12.9 inch 2021 , but finding it very difficult to adjust to ipad os , I am personally comfortable with android . Thinking of returning it .
You should consider returning it. Right now samsung is running a discount. If youre a student, you also get an additional discount, and if you trade in an eligible device, you can get the TabS7+ under $400 with add-ons and a pair of galaxy buds.
I’m using the ipad for a year and apple pencil is too heavy my wrist in pain so I decideted to change my tablet to samsung. After seeing this video I don’t think any differense of two app PS: apple pencil is 20gr S pen is 8gr the weight is more important than you think
Never had a Apple device, always Samsung, now I bought a Ipad Air 4, let's see how it is. Writing with the S pen is more realistic, less resistance, but the Apple Pencil is more comfortable to hold for long writing sessions, I THINK.
s-pen feels more like a pen imo (which isn't bad), but for a comfortable pencil feel you can try Staedtler Noris! I'd like an iPad Mini 6 when the prices go down... but being limited to only an Apple Pencil would drive me nuts
hii don't forget that you bought it individual not like samsung device it comes with it so you can buy an other one from amazon it is not a big deal bro like you did with apple
I got Samsung Notes on Galaxy Tab S7+. GoodNotes looks good with many features, but it costs 8€ (too much) and it is apple exclusive (like many other apps which are chargeable on app store although their android versions are free). Samsung Notes has a lot of features that make GoodNotes look like a rip-off (come on, 8€ for a note app, really?)
I had and s6 lite and use mainly Samsung note, I really liked it and it had improved a lot since last year. Now I have an iPad Pro and I still don't get used to the interface (I'm an android user), but I found CollaNote and Kilonotes as two free alternatives to Goodnotes. I think I will use One note though, because having all my notes available in different devices is more important for me.
@@MultiMegaGiga I wanted a tablet mainly for digital drawing and also wanted to try more design programs. I saw many good reviews of Procreate so I switch to ipados. I wasn't a fan of One UI to begin with, but tab s6 lite it's a great & convenient device for its price.
I wish if you can make another version of this video Samsung Notes vs Notability Because I'm thinking about selling my IPad and getting tab s7 and using Samsung Notes instead Notability
Hey Regular Teenager , your review or not taking up is some of the best on RU-vid. Can you also mention average file size when you are doing your reviews I have noticed Samsung notes versus notability with voice, Samsung notes sort of blows up the file size. Thanks
@@jaylynn7142 sure over all app size settings / battery and device care / storage / apps Individual file size , inside of your Samsung note you can share file using gmail and you can see file size or copy It to a memory card. FYI - One more more issue was I was not able to use the file Directly from memory card. It would copy the file back into the hard drive to open it .
i used to love samsung notes too but switched to notability coz they have better features of opening extracted pdf from books then highlight and make notes on them
firsty, what do you think is better - notability or good notes? secondly, samsung notes>>>>>good notes and notabiiy coz of just one reason - ITSS FREE and if you are a student than Free>Features
I´m an owner of the S6 Lite and i have to say that i like Goodnotes most. Its just so intuitive and grateful on creating notes. But apart of that there is not one single reason for me to switch.
Amazing comparison, thank you so much for the video. One thing I would like you to mention is whether the apps allow hand written text to be searched. Do you know if this is possible in either apps?
Samsung offers sharing as PDF, word, PowerPoint and that itself is good enough to slay the rivals. No other point of discussion is required. It is a massive feature
Goodnotesis so much better. It is so well thought out. So many little things that make editing documents and making your own so much easier. It's a shame the app isn't available for Android.
I am more of a Samsung Notes fan. I have terrible handwriting (Well, I think I do; others say different) I cannot read nor understand my handwriting half the time and I retain more information when I write it, but I wanted a feature where I can have my handwriting (No matter how bad it is) to be switched to text: Samsung notes does this flawlessly. I have a handwriting font that I really love to set as my font on the tablet. So when I write, it gets switched to this beautiful handwriting of the font. I am not sure if Good Notes can do this. But this is one of my favorite features on my Samsung Notes.
I really enjoyed the comparison but I find it funny because you are comparing two apps that are both only available on their OS so if you want to choose one over the other you have to buy a different device. Tho I can really see this helping someone decide between an Samsung tab or an iPad.
The comparison is actually useful for people that don’t have neither of the two tablets, so they need to see which one of the apps are better suited for their use. It helps to decide which (brand) tablet to buy in the end
LOVE your vids! Always great content :) Something that might seem a bit random: have you ever replaced your SPen tip? I've got the Tab S6 Lite for a few weeks now but still no screen protector. I'm thinking about getting a matte one though I'm a bit worried about consuming the tip too fast. Thank you!! :)
Great informative video as always, keep it up!💥 It's great that android notetaking apps such as Samsung Notes and Noteshelf have improved as much as they have. Better notetaking apps → More people buying and using android for notetaking with styluses giving android a chance → More improvement to be seen android notetaking apps , supply and demand I guess. At the moment I've been sticking to using Samsung Notes rather than Noteshelf/Others with the option to see your notes on your laptop.I
Does Samsung notes have an option to record lectures while writing notes? Can tasks be sync to Gmail Calendar ? Can handwritten notes be turned into typed text? Does Samsung have an option for a digital calendar?
yes, he clearly shows it in the video (towards the end), the sync is with Microsoft onedrive. And yes, handwritten notes can be turned into text - also shown in the video
From a student perspective, a major flaw in Samsung Notes app is that, unlike GoodNotes, you cannot create flashcards with spaced repetition ability. No wonder most Android users resort to Anki. Please tell Samsung developers that students are crying for flashcards with spaced repetition ability.
Hi! I'm a big fan of your channel! I was wondering if you were planning to do a video about ONE UI 3.1 cross device copy and paste... It would be awesome! Cheers
This is an excellent review! I have both systems s 7+ tablet from Samsung as well as an iPad Pro 12.9 for media consumption and video content editing. The notetaking on Samsung is unparalleled, in my opinion, and simply cannot be matched by Inotes( although I’m sure Good Notes is probably on a par with it). This really helped me to understand which of my devices I should take dedicated notes on; for me, 🙌 down it has to be Samsung! Especially because it’s so easy to take snapshots or copy small sections of your online research and paste it to the clipboard where it saves silly amounts of data that you have collected. This is where iPad fails for me because it simply doesn’t save anything other than the last thing that you cut Thank you so much for this....So VERY excellent, really well executed. 👍 GREAT to see that you know these things inside out! Thank you so much!
I am getting a tab s7 soon, so my fate has already been decided. I do think goodnotes is a bit better. I really like the ability to create flashcards. For those using samsung notes, is there a way to make paper-written notes searchable (after importing them as PDF for example)?
Woah! Thank you so much for this video, always thought good notes was a lot better than Samsung notes, but tbh I can see that it's not,and you just saved moneu from having to buy an android app when Samsung notes exists
Goodnotes is perfect for me and best for multitasking, split view and stacking over other pages side by side and switch by sing swipe. It’s good to see Samsung own notes app is that good but not at level of goodnotes. I also see some glitch on the Samsung 12:37 and the point you raised about degraded quality of uploaded docs to improve performance, seems like performance will be an issue here.
@@RegularTeenager how do you exchange the s pen tip? And is it worth it? I have been thinking about buying a matte screen protector but I am scared of damaging my s pen
@@LIGHTISBURNING spen has a rubber tip by default, so a matte screen protector will wear it down. You can either use a tempered glass for protector or replace the nibs with a hard plastic if you really want a paperlike protector. I know of apple pen tips that wear down too (on quick google search).
I think they are limited by the performance they are trying to obtain on all possible devices. Hopefully they do improve it but I think it's a little complicated for them to do so
@@RegularTeenager I really hope they will improve it . And i don't understand .... it is just a PDF how could it be complicated. There is apps like xodo .. can export pdf in high quality 😭😢
It is not that bad . I mean it is still readable . But if you zoom you will be able to see the pixels of your hand writing . It is a little annoying. And if you inserted a small picture . You wont be able to understand anything from it ... it becomes very pixelated. 😁😁😁
I'm thinking about getting a galaxy tab s8 or ipad air 5 which should I get? I'm a student and would use it in school and sometime also play on it but my question is would it fit me because I got a Pixel phone so neither apple or Samsung that's what makes it so difficult
for samsung tablet, what screen protector should i use? cuz i heard the matte/paper like screen protector tear out the nib really fast.. can i use glass screen protector?
Paper like screen protector will wear both rubber tip for S Pen and Apple pencil faster as the surface is rougher. Plus you screen will look horrible after a long time usage due to scratches from the pen. So you have to change both screen protector and nib more often. Glass does not have this issue but you will feel like writing on a glass which is not an issue for me. Tempered glass will not change your tablet display quality compared to the matte paper like
Damn! This is so silly of me but I have just learned about the quick shapes from your video! These quick shapes have the feature I have always wanted and kept comlaining that "Samsung must have done long time ago, why wouldn't they do it?!". But it turned out they had done it, silly me! LOL Eraser treats quickshapes like a handwriting just like you said. I needed it to make dashed lines (I wish Snotes had dashed lines like INKredible), so now I just can draw a cube and make dashed line inside!
Can I print my note, save it in my local storage as pdf and edit the PDF using other software(eg. Adobe Acrobat DC) ? I take a lot of note on my Book(printed) but I'm planning to do it digitally. For that, I have to open My book(pdf) using a note taking software and need to do some side note on my Book. Maybe add some references from online. I will add some video links, images, notes. On the flip side, Adobe Acrobat DC allow my to edit my pdf text as well. Which one should I buy?
I switched from Apple to Samsung everything. I use Goodnote on my iPad for my Bible lessons. Converting to Samsung notes i actually appreciate samsung notes more. I wish samsung would expand the pen selections and have more page selections to choose from. All the features that samsung notes comes with i cant go back to Apple. Apple is boring to me.
Unfortunately samsung notes fails when working with pdf files. The app sometimes becomes so slow and crashes. Using it on my Z Fold 3. Which note taking app do you recommend for Android mainly using it to annotating PDF files?
I studied a one-hundred page business book in the form of a PDF that I imported to Samsung notes and highlighted, wrote notes, underlined while also doing such while using Dex for more viewing ability without one hiccup! I did this on my Note 20 Ultra. My S7+ is on the way.
@@mikelthewug that's strange. My pdf contains over thousand pages and with clickable link to navigate to different pages I am not sure why it was all the time crashing when I start scrolling. The pdf worked really well in flexil app.
You can do that with the selection tool (both lasso and rectangle), it gives you an option to delete a selected area. You can also copy, cut, move forwards/backwards, straighten, change style, convert to text and go to clipboard (for some reason).
Hi, Do you know of any app which can save your notes completely either on Cloud or on external SD card? I am not looking for an app to make a copy on Internal storage. I am using Samsung notes from last 2.5 years and I found I have occupied 1.3GB internal storage because I keep media, gifs, screenshots, audio etc in my notes. I am afraid after 10 years, I have to download my 7GB notes on new syncing device.
Hello guys, I need help urgently. I can afford either Air 5 or S7+, which one should I get? I'm gonna use for taking notes at university, nothing more. Main reason to preferring tab, they're so pratic instead of using tons of paper

Ok..where do i get THAT version of samsung notes. To a small part i spired by this video,i got an tab s 8 and the samsung notes i installed there is nothing lime in your video. Only like a note taking app like a grocery list. Don't even see an option to scan paper to then write on them
Wow Thanks to your video don't need to buy Good notes I had only you Samsung notes just to put personal information not for school or anything like that 🤯🤯
