I own both Gen 6 🔥 Turned the 2100 into a gold AP royal oak and kept the DW5600 stock as it is the Charles Darwin Galapagos Shark edition for my workhorse. Love them both
Been a proud owner of the GW5000U for quite some time now, and it's been my go-to G-Shock. I have a Casioak too and it's not really my cup of tea. Feels like I've got a satellite dish strapped to my wrist! Recently grabbed a basic DW5600. What can I say? I think I've found my new favorite! It's got this effortlessly cool vibe and nails the basics without any fuss. No radio signals or solar charging. Just pure, unadulterated G-Shock goodness. I'm totally in love with it
I was very happy with my GWM5610 until I lost it. Now I have the GA-B2100-1A and I'm happy enough with it. For me, some form of automatic time update and solar are essential because they make the watch autonomous. I love knowing that's it's always the right time and it will be more likely to be lost than to stop working.
I have both the GMA-S2100 (the mid sized Casioak) and the DW5600E, and I think the reason the DW5600 might feel more comfortable is its wider strap flare at the lugs. The Casioak has a narrower flare, which can make the sides your wrist feel more pinched. I personally love them both. I’d say that if you prioritize function and prefer retro looks, get the Square. If you prioritize form and prefer modern looks, then get the Casioak. The Casioak is definitely more stylish, but you pay for that design. The 5600 is more functional, but you save money.
A very comprehensive yet concise summary… since I made that vid, I’m even more on the side of the classic square… a big problem of the Casioak (as cool as it is) is how small/ oddly shaped the digital display is
For me, having to look closely at a watch to see the time is a deal breaker, I can read analogue at a glance and even tell the time in the dark with just the hands lumed. It has to be a 2100 with decent contrast between indices/hands and the dial though, the all black ones are useless!
I hate to be pedantic but the Casio is the GAB-2100. B denotes the fact that it is a Bluetooth module as the GA 2100 module is the entry-level non-Bluetooth non-solar version. 🤓
My small collection is a number of G-Shock 5000 series and a G-5600UE. I don't like analogue watches, no matter what brand it is, mechanical or quartz.
