Which is the perfect size Royal Oak? 37, 38, 39 or 41mm? (4K)

Primarily focusing on the 37mm Royal Oak in steel with the blue dial (15450ST.OO.1256ST.03), I compare this model to the rest of the Royal Oak time & date-only line-up in 39mm (15202ST) and 41mm (15400ST, 15500ST) as well as the 38mm chronograph (26315ST) which has been released in 2019.
While I try to answer that question from my personal perspective, you may find this video interesting if you also have a smaller wrist or if you would like to get a quick overview about the current "classic" Royal Oak portfolio.

From the title of the video, I was expecting to see some side by side comparisons, not just one 37mm. Without other different size watches, we cannot see the size differences.

Thanks for the feedback, fair point! Unfortunately I didn‘t have other sizes available, was hoping that the info in the video was also somewhat helpful. Will do another one when I get my hands on some of the other models.

I got a 16.5mm wrist and this blue 37mm looks perfect. The dial is not supposed to be huge as this is strictly not a sport watch like a Rolex Sub or GMT. It is refined and classy and the dial size represents that.

Thanks, I agree, the 37mm looks even nicer on bigger wrists than mine (as I mentioned in the video). However, the RO is a sports watch, maybe different than a Rolex but still a sports watch. When it was first launched in 1972 it was not meant to be small at all, back then 39mm was far beyond average, hence the nickname "Jumbo"

Yes I would agree as I have the same sized wrist as you. The Cartier 2113 Chronograph is just perfection as is the Omega 37.5mm Planet Ocean Chronograph - both which I own. There are not many options on the market and the understanding from manufacturers seems to be going smaller as huge watches on small wrists look ridiculous. I have yet to see a watchmaker wearing a huge watch.

The dial is perfect and you certainly don't need a bigger face for your wrist. It all looks well proportioned which is the most important thing!

Thanks for the comment, I understand what you mean. I could definitely wear the 37mm (while it looks different in reality). Regardless of that I prefer the 38mm, will do another video once I have it on my wrist

I got wrist span less than 50mm with 15.5mm wrist dia! This watch looks perfect! I got the blue dial but the white one more interesting!

Great video, would be happy to see more of them coming. I am planing to get the gray dial version. May I ask Your wrist size? Did You have to remove any links?

Thanks, glad to hear you found it interesting. I think my wrist is ca 15.5cm (always depends where/how you measure it) and I had to remove two links. However, I would argue wrist span is more important than overall size/circumference (I have a rather thin and flat wrist).

Hi Cem, from end to end link this watch wears like a 39mm - similar to a Rolex Daytona or Tudor Black Bay 58. I would say for a 16mm wrist it would fill your full wrist comfortably with one link removed, or for 16.5 - 17.5mm wrist no link removal is required. 17.5mm+ will be a stretch or more link(s) required.

There is also 15300 that is 39mm, which is even better than 15450 and 15500

RO 37mm is woman size 👯‍♀️ Toooo small dial and 37mm RO dial is smaller than 36mm datejust dial. It is a big disaster. Looks like a gay 41mm RO is for normal men. 39mm RO is for unisex. No more choice I think.

Can't wait until they come out with a 38mm. They should have came out with that in a 38mm, instead of the chronograph. Or, at least came out with one 38mm version along side the chronographs

With the 41, you can’t see the transition to the iconic band. All you see is the watch face. Also, I would argue, big isn’t all that special anymore. In fact, you see all these invictas and fossil watches in giant 45s. It’s no longer cool. Restraint is the way to go.

my choice 15450st i had 15202st that not sporty, and 15450 is good coulor for me. 15400 is too much long index. 15500 is too short index. if coordinate T shirts its ok big watch. but formal shirt 37mm best for me. And 39mm is too much high price now.

Agree, unfortunately it wears too large on my wrist. Besides that I must say I prefer the Grande Tapisserie to the Petite Tapisserie, but that's clearly a matter of taste/preference

Minimum 42 mm for me Of any watch. 37 mm looks like a stamp on me like a spec. How could anyone put such a tiny watching the rest unless they have pencil wrists. I like Rolex 43 mm the only one seat while it because it’s large enough for my wrist. I also like the offshore because it’s 42 mm and appears large. 41 mm looks a little tiny on me. And I’m not fat I have 8 1/2 wrist
