As a builder I'm kind of stuck between the crab and the armadillo, crab for obvious reasons, but the armadillo would be so much cooler as a mob, plus we get armor to raise an army of wolves.
I’m voting the crab it would really help me with my building and we don’t really use the wolfs enough for the armadillo to be useful so I don’t want this to be a wasted vote
The problem isn’t that they want a mob vote, the problem is telling us that we will never see these options again. Especially since these mobs and features are things people have been begging for.

@@simeonMichael87 This is the thing. They said that they would add mobs/biomes from the biome votes that lost. They never said anything about adding mobs back from the mob votes which irritates me because if they can bring them back why not the mobs from mob votes?!

The way Dan looked at us when he showed us grim was him knowing that he would give a wave of nostalgia. I have been a long supporter since the mod showcases keep up the great work.
And remember my fellow Minecraftians, to boycott the vote and demand we get all of the mobs, both from this year and all years prior. We deserve better. If modders can add all this year's mobs unless than a day, Mojang can add them all in less than a month. Do your part and help us get a better Minecraft!
try developing for two games at the same time with deferent coding languages having to make sure that the features dont conflict with eachother for long time fans so they dont get mad and then being compared to modders who dont have to worry about any of that and get to use outside platforms to develop on rather than minecrafts. @@literallydiamondcat

There's absolutely no way they'd give you an item that gives you that long of reach so easily; especially given what they've done with mobs in the past, (and because it'd be super OP otherwise) my theory is that it'd only extend your normal 4 blocks reach another 2 or 3 at most, perhaps adding a new item-specific enchantment to extend it slightly further, but especially given how easy they seem to be to acquire, it'd be crazy to make the reach too far.
Hope you're feeling better now Dan! I also lost my cat of 10 years to cancer a few days go and it takes a lot to stay strong when losing someone really close to you, and doing it in 3 weeks is even tougher! I'm glad to see you're doing alright!
What most people forget is that we don’t bring out wolves because we are afraid they’ll get killed, but now they wont be so mushy and actually viable to bring out as a battle pet
Weak argument. Wolf need a new AI and not armor. They will still die immediately. 1 or 2 extra hearts won't save anything. Crab is objectively better overall. In survival/creative, building, pvp, redstone and parkouring. Team crab forever 🦀❤
@@X17Z123you're just making a assumption we weren't told how many armor points the wolf armor will be and from past mob vote will probably only be a five at maximum and that won't save your dog from falling off the cliff burning in lava being attacked from the Warden even a accidental hit from a netherite sword one time will do half of its health and that when were using your estimate for how much armor points has. In reality you're just going to be disappointment how useless the armor is going to be. And don't at me with " but enchantments will make it viable to use" as we see with horse armor which is already the game for many years you can't enchantment it's and it's likely going to be the same with dog armor.
Yes, all the mobs in the mob vote are based on real world species, the crab is easily based on the mangrove crab, the armordillo is based on either the nine banded armordillo or another species, it could be a mix of multiple species as well, and I was thinking the penguin is based off of either the macaroni penguin or rockhopper penguin, or any species of penguin with yellow tufts on then.
I'm with Dan on this one. I love penguins, and the armadillo is also really cute, but the crab just seems to be more useful in the long run, compared to "wolf armor" that'll make me take my wolf out once and then just abandon them afterwards again. People are really only voting for the wolf armor because they have been asking for it for so long, and they think they'll never get it after this vote. With that same logic you could say the same for the crab claw and adorable penguins, but this is just my opinion. Crabs would change the game more long-term, armadillos would be fun for a second and then leave my mind forever, and the penguins... are so cute and I love them but they're doomed to lose because of the armadillo. :'(
On point dan, the deva aren't lazy, it's just the best way to stay relevant. the votes tend to draw attention and provoke communication on all sides. But it would be nice to get more frequent mob votes, maybe quarterly and between 2 rather than 3 mobs.
noo?? they are lazy. think about the last previous updates. The additional blocks are reskins of other ones with little to no functionality, and the mobs are incredibly bland with little effort put into them. they have a year; they should add a year's worth of content. they don't need mob votes to stay relevant; they need actual updates.
@@philthyladI’m a game developer and I do agree recreating the base game of Minecraft would take time but with the large amount of resources from Microsoft, and the streamlined process for creating mobs it shouldn’t take a year to add a penguin. Seeing as mod creators could make a rough version of the mobs in 10 hours, I don’t see how hard it should be. I know they have to worry about different platforms but yet again they have millions of dollars at their disposal. So I think they are kinda lazy, although they want to keep the games integrity.
Rockhopper penguins still live in antarctica though, their design may be based on the rockhopper/macaroni penguin but their location is based on the humboldt penguin that is found on stony beaches in South America
Basically this year's mob vote Crab: can make blocks reach farther, don't really know how's gonna work, Probably off hand Armadillo: Dog armor, it will probably be powerful since armadillos shells are bullet proof in real life Penguin:the most adorable mob out of the three, makes boat faster. Probably ice boat goes even faster using it.
Hey Dan, you probably won't see this but, you were my childhood and your videos helped me through many sorrowful occasions watching you Grimm and Dr Trayaurus go on amazing adventures in Minecraft was incredible and I even tried to recreate some of the adventures you had on my own to at the time (not knowing there were mods or quite frankly what mods were) and I just want to say thank you for being the amazing RU-vidr we all know and love even so many years later watching you grow along side us makes it feel so special and I'm glad to be along for the ride we love you man never stop being you!
Tbh I think the crab would be more useful cause to won’t have to stack blocks up just to build a simple house (the armadillo is kind of useful but rarely anyone uses wolves in the game and the penguin is literally just the dolphin mechanic but just requires a boat)
they HAVE to add all three of them because having only one wouldn’t be acceptable by many people. all three of the mobs only have one function/usage which is kinda disappointing considering the fact that all three of them can be literally made into a mod by a 17 year old in a week. mojang is slacking a lot imo
P.s. dan it’s good to see you again hope your upload schedule gets better with all that’s going on because a month gap between videos is kinda slow but I know your trying your best so keep up the great work.
The thing is I use wolves way less than I do any building, plus going through the grinding of getting wolf armor would probably lead me to still not use wolves and just leave them in my house more often, especially too once you get to the point of netherite tools and armor who still uses wolves past that point unless you're on a smp with friends fighting each other? Overall even if it's just one or two blocks I think the crab would still be more useful overall.
I think the armadillo is the best in my opinion. Instead of just having your dog sit at home, why not bring it out with some extra health. I dont think the crab will be that OP and the penguins will br basically useless.
The issue with wolf armor is that wolves don’t really die to mobs, more often it’s because they jump off cliffs or into lava. Not many people bring wolves with them, not only for those reasons, but because they tend to get in the way.
Wow im glad your still posting Dan ive been watching you since 2015 you have been a HUGE part of my childhood. I remember your show you did in Orlando FL back in 2017 or 2016 I still have the book from the event.
It’s funny, when the spyglass came out, Java players wasn’t impressed since they already have optifine zoom. This time around, Bedrock mobile players are not impressed by the Crab’s claw since they can already place blocks much further than Java can (about 6 blocks in survival, 12 in creative)🤣
@@ruthboyd6539 that’s what I thought too. Makes me wonder if Java and Bedrock devs even inform each other which features are already in their version of the game. 😆
I mean, that's not really a Bedrock thing and more of a Bedrock on touch screen thing. For console and pc players I'm pretty sure the reach is pretty much the same as java. I play both versions and I think the crab is most beneficial

If the penguin makes your boat travel faster. Imagine the possibilities with ice bridges... you could trap them in the boat or make little compartments attached to the bridge for them.
I honestly don't know whether to choose the crab or the armadillo to be added. They both have great features, and, as a builder myself, I agree with Dan in the fact that the crab claw will be amazing for building. But also the wolf armor doubling your wolf's health will be awesome cuz let's be real here who doesn't want a wolf lol. But both features would be awesome! I wish Mojang would add both of these mobs!
I honestly feel that the crab will have my vote . I really want penguins but without a better use there is not chance I don’t think the armadillo is really worth voting as the armor is protecting them from mobs where as they usually die to lava or fall damage. That’s why I think the crab but all 3 would definitely be amazing to have
I'm team crab as well, I'm thinking of which is more practical over cuteness. Being able to build further away would be really helpful. A dog's getting it health boosted doesn't help much because we can always breed a bunch of them, use potions to help them and we typically don't take them with us on our Minecraft adventures. A fast boat won't matter because we use boats in different bodies of water a lot and we would have to get the penguins from their biome and make them follow us everywhere.
@@BANMKE not really they can be annoying, in the way and a pain to worry about. They are only really helpful when you bring them as a massive pack and use them to help you kill mobs and other players. But we use potions on dogs such as fire res, regen and strength to make them overpowered. What would be the point of dog armour? Versus if you can build further away imagine how easily it would be to build things, bridging, and how this could help you defend yourself by blocking away mobs and players coming to attack you from further away. I don't care about no dog armour or a faster boat.
I don't understand the people defending dog armor. It is quite literally pointless. Unless dogs get combat buffs there is no point, they are more of a liability than anything. I guess people would rather have a cute cosmetic than an actual useful feature. Team crab all the way
But it would be a waste to the bedrock players. They can't go up above the nether surface, so it would be good for Java, but wasted potential for bedrock. (Also, for the overworld there is dolphin's grace. So the penguin's ability would be useless anyway) @@rowbie9011
The crab claw allowing people to place blocks further away would be a game-changer for builders and give so much more tools for Builders on the Hermitcraft server or other SMP servers and it would just add so much more possibilities for random players also whenever they want to start showing off their creativity in survival!

It’d make sense if you can only attack them when they come out of their shell (armadillo) Make it so swords and arrows bounce off and up u have to aim for the head to hit it
In my opinion, the reason why players don't use wolves enough is because they don't last long enough in battle. But give it armor, and they'll be used a lot more

I personally hope the armadillo wins, we always usually keep our wolves at home but it mostly because we are too scared of it dying. If we were actually able to take it anywhere without the fear of it dying than it would be great.

@@YumChum You can vote for the armadillo, but I'll stick to my choice. Even if its 1, 2 or 3 blocks, it will be very handy. Personally, I think it would reach up to 4 or 5 blocks, and honestly it would be equal in rarity.
Armadillo is my choice. I hope one of the wolf armor would be magical, it would turn the wolf into a living skeleton wolf. We can then restore Grim, DanTDM's OG mod review character.
If the crab claw gives the player more reach for example cutting down trees and mining. Then it would be very useful item but if it ain't having that but only the ability to place blocks further away. Then it would be less useful item in Minecraft. My vote goes for the Armadillo. One reason why I would give my vote for Armadillo. Because Savanah haven't been touched since it got added to the game except the village update. Just to have anything biom exclusive for the Savanah is an improvment. Even tho the drop from the Armadillo is slightly worse then the claw
Exactly, the extra reach is good but we need something for other biomes. And I've wanted armor for wolves for a while now. Also think if you can add enchantments for the armor.
The crab craw is still useful but yeah the Savanah has been untouched. Also the Armadillo is quite cute especially if it were to roll around. I VOTE ARMADILLO!!
I think the wolf armor would be best used in multiplayer "who took my diamonds" scenarios, whereas the crab claw is good for general use across both single and multiplayer, so crab has my vote as well, but I'm sure proper update & detailed mods will be released for the losing mobs
i am voting for the crab since for the following reasons 1) Crab claw can be awesome for builders and it will help in pvp since you can place end crystals farther away 2) When is the last time you took your dog to combat or for adventure? most probably it will sit in your house for eternity 3)Now penguins can make boats faster but it can be substituted by the dolphins and ice boats are already crazy fast so we dont need a change to that now a lot of people just want aesthetics but they should take features to account too...
the armadillo would populate the savanna which doesent have many mobs in it and it might also populate badlands biomes, specifically wooded badlands and also they didnt specify that you could break blocks from further away, i do agree that the penguin is dumb as hell

With the crab claw making you interact further away, maybe this could be an advantage in hunting ancient debris with beds; since you wouldn't have to get too close to the bed with the crab claw's ability.
The crab and the armadillo tore me because the crab waves at you and he's so kind and you can get crab claw but he's only in mangrove swamps, where as armadillos might be in deserts and mesas as well but honestly I'd rather keep them as a pet than a dog, & penguins are just over glorified dolphins
For me I'd choose the armadillo because it would incentivize people to use the wolf more as a traveling companion since they'd be less worried about it dying. I will say I do think the crab claw could be interesting, especially if it also increases combat reach, but I still say the armadillo.
Mojang should start making servers in Minecraft that you can go into that let’s you play with all of the features of the mobs so that people can make proper decisions without having to speculate about what the items do and the abilities that the mobs have
I'm so glad we're actually getting three really cool mobs for this vote, I'm hoping that the armadillo wins, but I don't care which one does, they're all super cool! It was good to see Grim in another video, I hope next time you test it out the armor actually renders!
