This list is actually perfect. I'd put the MPC Live 2 in S -Tier now though cause used it's like $700-$800 and you can put a high quality skin of your choosing on it and still have money to buy a 2tb Samsung Evo and Carrying Case.
This was refreshing to watch you rate the “newer” MPCs. It’s funny to hear someone don’t liking an MPC because it doesn’t have WiFi. 😆 I’m an old fart who has PTSD from battling SCSI peripherals/cabling and figuring out SCSI IDs and terminating. Hello, just from your information, i have a mpc touch working perfectly with a macboock pro with the lates osx...had to do some updates on the Display Link drivers, but great and awesome!!!
I have an MPC One+ and the MPC Touch. I never had any trouble with the MpC Touch on a Mac. If you update the display link drivers everything runs smooth.
I currently use the MPC One Plus. Previously I used the MPC Touch and after switching back to Mac, you know how that went. I bought the MPC One Plus 3 months ago and love it. Before the Touch I had the MPC 2000 but ditched that for Reason. Perfect replacement plus I can use it standalone or Dawless if I want to
Live and live 2 have the same performance. Speaker doesn't matter as it is sub par especially for a mix. And once you get used to the short cuts on the live, buttons dont matter. Its the most PORTABLE STANDALONE MPC THAT AKAI MAKES. A good set of headphones and you can mix and master on the live. Should be at the top of your list.
The uproar about the MPC X SE was just blown out of proportion. It's a fine update version that looks a hell of a lot cooler, nothing more. Speaking off, I actually opted for the black version of the MPC Live 2 because I was afraid of the retro version being more suspectable to smudges and the black color contrasting more with the onboard lighting. But both remain THE sweet spot MPCs that I recommend to anybody. As for the MPC Studio, it belongs in D category IMO. It's layout is fairly different, MPC Beats/Software is just crap to begin with, and most importantly, it totally sucks for controlling any other software. For a beginner I would use the Akai MPK Mini with Koala Sampler and/or a trial version of a proper DAW.
Do you think is a good idea to but an MPC live 2 now? because they update the mpc one to mpc plus, so maybe next year they will realese a new one, I want a mpc with big pads.
