The tide seems to be turning with so many approved retailers out there now. The recent waves seem like they are easily obtainable nowadays, and if you keep your eyes peeled they can be picked up for essentially the pre-sale price. It is getting to the point where putting that preorder money in a CD and earning 5% for a year+ then picking up the figures of interest from retailers/caballers may be the smartest move. My personal rule is to not buy any figures for 100$ or more (dragons not included). At this point I have all the older figures I expect to and have a bunch of preorders, so I'll just save my money for whenever they release new goblins or a Figura Obscura Sasquatch.
I'm not convinced that 12 months from now we'll be in the same place in terms of ample oversupply. A lot of the figures that released in the last 12-18 months originally went up for PO during the insane collectibles boom of the pandemic. If retailers and resellers are stuck with too much product right now, I doubt they'll be willing to continue ordering at those same levels. It'll be very interesting to see where things go 12-18 months from now.
For a new collector i would recommend them to get an armored character, a skeleton, and a mount. Get those in those in hand and go from there. With all the new releases coming you might be better off waiting too.
For Mythic - I think i'd probably go as follows: 50 - Duban 100 - Duban & Xylernian Guard 200 - Duban, Skeleton(standard),Vargg, Samir/Arrizak 400 - Duban, Aracagorr/Azahazzar, Thraice/Samir/Arrizak, Tharnog/Kalizirr, Gorgo and Attila It starts with getting the most figures for the price, then by 400 you are getting more elaboratd stuff. If that half giant builder was around, i'd probably put it throughout as from the 100 usd mark
Your previous video is why I ranked Gorgo two pack so high on my get list as a new person. I waited in the Cabal until someone did it for $100 shipped and finally earlier this week someone did so I'm excited to get it into my hands later this week!
I don't see Duban getting a lot of love, but I always recommend him to newbs. For a $100 I'd go for Jjuno or Gwendolynne. $200 Atilla/Gorgo pack and the female Orc builder from WotA game. $400, Headless Horseman, Aracagor, Tharnog, Lijae, Thraice, weapons pack. Good video DorkLair!
This was a great breakdown. Solid advice for new comers to the line. It's always great to see shepherding new collectors with advice, rather than gate keeping. Well done
Another helpful & informative video. Unless it’s something I’ve always wanted to get, I don’t preorder other toy lines but the addiction to Four Horsemen stuff means I preorder ALL their goodies. Now I do get the itch & randomly buy more 4H figures.. new & old. I gotta go to work now, only way to afford MORE !! 😆
As a new collector, I suggest anything on the ogre scale. I absolutely love them. Kragnarr, Aracagorr, Azahazzar, the Half Giant. Also, any of the “Sir” figs.

I focus more on new preorders than the older ones and i just picked up arracagorr and thraice so im picking my way thru the line but not trying to be a completionist .
I had an extra $200, so I purchased Mythic Legions: Poxxus Kalizirr, Mythic Legions: Poxxus Kalizirr, Poxxus Zende Amaanthyr, and Poxxus Tharnog from Big Bad Toy Store. They’re all in my pile of loot.
Whats getting me now is the repaints. I like the new obscuras but i 1) dont have the room for 2 of the same figures 2) dont want to buy the same figure twice. So now i feel like i shouldnt jump on a obscura because i might like the repaint better. The krampus was the exception for me.
Yeah that's a tricky decision. If I were in that position I would buy the initial drop with the intention to sell it if I end up liking the retail version better, that way, even if I end up loosing a couple bucks, I'd get to experience the thing right away, but still ultimately end up with the one I want.
The Legion Builder markup seems a little crazy to me, but then I guess I really don't understand the choices the Horsemen make when it comes to distribution since after 20 years of doing this they still don't make stock available consistently.
@@DorkLair There certainly are more retailers than when I last bought some of these figures 5-6 years ago. I'm sure the retailer exclusives help and maybe they've done something to encourage retailer preorders. Still, the core of the line is built around preorders and FOMO when it seems as though they could operate more normally if they chose to. Boss Fight is more the business model I'm picturing.
@@BetaRayBill32 I disagree. I think they have very purposefully gotten to this point they are at now where there is very little risk in waiting for release, so no real need for FOMO at all.
Hi I'm new to mythic legions but have been collecting since 2020, should I get illythia or a deluxe female orc? Not sure if it's better to collect a goddess or a random army builder just because it's cheaper
