Hello Blake, can you list your lights in order of recommendations please? Will make it so much easier to check as I’m in the market for a new light thanks
Great video, Blake! I appreciate the cost you probably had to spend towards this project! And always awesome to get some input on what nano tank lights to buy. Great idea and I'm sure beginners and people buying a nano tank will find this video useful, in fact I sure did! Great work and keep it up, man! 👌
Interesting experiment! Thank you for your dedication in running this one! This is why you have such a dedicated fan base and a rapidly growing group of viewers!!! Cheers, Blake!!
Never apologize for getting excited man! The videos are for us. The hobby is for YOU. I’m glad to hear you got excited. I’m right at the 11:39 mark. So far this has been an amazing video!
Great vid Blake. I have a Chihiros 120A covering 3 tanks. It is about 50cm above and only runs at 40% for 6hrs, with half hour ramp up and down times for total of 7hrs light. Anymore than that and the algae goes mental. I haven't had any probs with the app though. Also have an ONF flat nano and the plant growth in that tank is crazy. Have to trim almost every week.
@MrKillerHobbes the Chihiros is over 3 tanks. None have algae probs after i I adjusted the photo period and intensity. The ONF has had no algae probs at all and crazy plant growth, maybe because it was heavily planted from the start.
@@boges11 interesting. blakes aquatics channel made a vid called " which nano light should u buy" where he did a mostly controlled experiment with multiple lights including onf and chihiros. check it out, do you think it matches with your findings
Really interesting experiment, videos on things like this are so helpful! Perfecting timing as well because it’s time to upgrade the lights on my nano tanks👌 Thank you Thank you 🙏
Your comparison videos are top notch mate 👌🏼 Really appreciate all the effort you go to. One nano light I never see anything about that I've been considering is the bioscape 10w. Would be interesting to see you test that out in the future
One of my fav videos you've made. Love my flexi mini, thinking about buying a couple more. im using the pertworx 3 and 6 watt of 10 litre tanks, and giving the new bioscape 8w a run for the moment too.
That was a really interesting video, are you happy with the light on the Fluval flex? I’ve ordered one that I’m turning into a Blackwater Apistogramma tank, any suggestions on plants and substrate for it. I have the botanicals worked out, Blackwater aquariums of course. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 👍
Hi Blake, I was looking for a review of the Aquavivo Plant Mini and stumbled upon this vid. Your experiment was very carefully orchestrated! I’m really pleased with your results and my recent purchase 😂 I had walked into Nature Aquariums hoping to get a plant light (maybe a fluval) for a 21litre tank and the plant mini was the only appropriately sized light they had in stock. I’m thinking I should have bought some red plants instead though! It’s my first aquarium and I’m excited to see how it goes. Fingers crossed I don’t experience any led issues like the previous commenter. If you run further tests like the above I’d recommend putting the light name on the bottom of the tank or on top of the video when the shot is in frame so it’s clear which light is growing which plants ☺️ great vid, I didn’t expect to watch it all 😂👍🏼
Great review as always. Would be curious to have seen how cheap eBay LEDs compare to these name brand ones. I am currently running ones with SMD5730 LEDs on my 30L tanks and they seem to do ok, but would love to see how they compare to ones that are at least double the price. Cheers again for a great review. Must have cost you a far amount to get all of these!
Cheap lights are fine, it's the kelvin is all that matters. Lots of jazzy names and claims on plenty aquarium lighting. It doesn't matter. 6500k - 10000k is the range you want for aquarium plants.
I have the Chihiros C2 and while I like the light, I hate the app. If there is any loss of power, even for half a second, the program is lost and the app can only load one program at a time. I like to have my tanks on a different schedule weekdays vs weekends and the app cannot deal with it where as all my other tanks with different lights on a Kasa smart plug handle it just fine.
Hi, Blake! My tank is 38cm high, I’m thinking of putting a lot of red plants in it. Do you think lominie would be good for red plants? I find your channel fun and helpful, I’ll subscribe! Thank you!
Hi mate, unfortunately I wouldnt say the lominie would be very good at red plants. Youd be better off with an onf or a fluval nano, something with some adjustability
@@BlakesAquatics thanks a lot! Just got my lominie asta 20 delivered this afternoon, unfortunately. What problems do you think it might cause to red or “medium” plants? Will it cause the leaves to be damaged or it won’t just be able to make the reds vibrant? Sorry for the questions, mate. Kinda new to the hobby
From this video, I bought a Aquavivo PlantMini - 2 months later, both the whites and 1 of the red LEDs have died in the last few days. I might just have a unit that is a lemon but thought you might like to know. After a minor freak out, checking to see if I could fix it (I couldn't), I am going to try a 6W PetWorx LED instead.
Hey Blake, There is an aquarium light that looks like a copy of chihiros c2 and the onf flat nano on ebay for 60$. It also has its own app with timing and adjustability for the RGB. Have you ever seen that light or tried it? I can post the link if you want.
@@BlakesAquatics ok cool nice. I think the wrgb 2 slim. Is a less powerful light at 45watt and 2400umens or whatever. But should still be able to easily grow majority of plants right?
@@BlakesAquatics yeah cool thays it. As long as can grow most plants well and good full growth. Is there any other lights you would recommend at that $250 ish price point for a 2 ft tank?
Im not worried about it i just make mention of it because its a symptom of unbalanced nutrients, balance between nutrients, light intensity and spectrum and available co2 and some algaes do choke out and steal nutrients away from plants so it is pretty relevant to discuss
The reduction was to bring it closer to the output of the others. Besides, i have previously ran that light at full power and it wouldve crrated algae and possibly green water. I ran them where I would if i was using them
