Tbh American Dream might be better once its fully completed in a few years. In Taylor’s review, he said “Don’t visit YET, wait until it’s fully completed.”
I live in MN & grew up with Camp Snoopy / Nick Universe at MOA :) Nice seeing the comparisons between the two parks, I'm pretty jealous of NJ's eurofighter!
i was born in '95 and i have some crazy vivid memories of camp snoopy. The peanuts characters walking around always scared the heck out of me. Incredible experience for a kid.
They should replace most of the ceiling at the Nickelodeon Universe at NJ with a glass ceiling and improve the entire park on appearance. I would do that if I became the owner of Triple 5
It’s because they rushed and just threw something together lol that mall in nj has take. Years and decades to build and complete just bad spot. They should’ve put the theme park in Florida
They are in 5 billion dollars in debt they wouldn't be able to afford it the mall was a concept in the 1990s and was getting build around the 2000s i remember when it was called Xanadu instead of American dream and the building had all types of colors on the out of it
Even though I'm an enthusiast, I think I'd much rather go to Mall of America simply because it looks so much nicer! The theming at American Dream just looks so bland. Love the vid
I grew up in MN (in fact Moa and I are the same age lol) so I got to see both camp snoopy and nick universe in its entirety. I must admit I’m impressed with NJ version but nothing compares to the original. Sure NJ will one day probably be better simply because of ingenuity and structure that Moa can’t adapt to, but it’s something about Moas nostalgia that NJ just can’t beat. Every time I visit Moa the kid in me comes out lol. I also love how Moa has free parking AND several great venues for public transportation. American Dream is going to lose lots of money charging people for parking smh.
Additionally from what I understand in NJ they don’t have an exit & return option but Minnesota does, which helps with things like food & shopping. Here’s hoping the newness & pandemic in NJ they will be able to bring it up to more like Minnesota. Also a combo ticket between Nickelodeon Universe & DreamWorks water park would be a good option.
I have more nostalgia for the MOA one than any other park as I came here a lot as a kid. I do think the new one has better coaster but sandys is what really sets it apart even though tmnt is objectively better than spongbob. The overall mall and atmosphere is far and away superior at moa also that log flume is the best I’ve been on
I went to the NJ version yesterday and really liked it. I got the Twilight Admission, which is a reduced price for the last two hours of the day. I went on TMNT Shellraiser four times and also Slime Streak twice. TMNT is a world class coaster, and it even suspends you with a direct view of NYC through the window. Although Slime Streak is a moderate family coaster, I enjoyed it more because it only has minimal T-bar restraints. Sandy's Blasting Bronco has been down for a while, so I will have to go back once it starts running again. (It's an Intamin, so it's notoriously unreliable.)
@@CanobieCoaster Thanks, bud. I will probably leave work early on a weekday and go use the Twilight Ticket then. The staff members said it's not as busy weekdays. Just once Sandy's Blasting Bronco reopens.
I'm hoping that the New Jersey park is still a work in progress and will eventually surpass the Mall of America park. On top of that, the MOA park is in the center of the mall, which means there's no place to expand. The New Jersey park is on the outer edge of the mall. Additionally, the New Jersey mall has a water park and ski slopes to add to the attractions outside the amusement park. The bottom line is there is much more potential in New Jersey whereas in the Mall of America, it's seems more of a done deal.
7:28 I can understand it but i think that chiapas at phantasialand in germay is the better log flume, it has an unique mexican style theming, one of the best soundtracks of all time and also it has a total ride time of ca. 7 minutes including several "darkride parts" and 3 drops. I highly recommend visiting phantasialand aniway in my opinion it is one of the most underratest theme parks in the world.
MOA Nickelodeon Universe is what happens when a business takes over a theme park that was built by a theme park company. AD Nickelodeon Universe is what happens when a business builds the theme park.
I live right next to the MOA and I’ve taken the shortcut through the Minnesota nick uni to so many stores. It’s a wonderfully lively place. Love the MOA, though it’s not worth planning a vacation around 😂
Been to both! Grew up in MN though ;) I agree with everything said here. The NJ park has bigger/ newer more impressive rides for an indoor park. However the energy is very cold and dead. MN park has some pretty great rides but the atmosphere of the park is not only nostalgic for me but it has a better visual appeal hands down. Much more affordable too!
One comment on the food; in MN there is literally an entrance to the Hard Rock Cafe from the park, so it might as well be considered "in park". I'm biased since I live in the Twin Cities, so take it with a grain of salt. But I've always considered hard rock to be part of the park.
American dream mall New Jersey is by far superior in all categories as a mall. But the theming and landscaping of its nickelodeon universe is a disaster! Also, the entire ceiling should be a skylight!
As someone who’s home park is American Dream and not having been to mall of America, I was hoping the latter won. American Dream is way too expensive to visit frequently and I think they have a general disdain for the locals
I think the original camp snoopy at MOA had great ambiance and character. The nick u still has some of the same character. Nick U at American Dream, seems to have 0 character. I love the logging theme that lives on at Nick U MOA. The log chute is great. MOA did remove its most unique ride, to build a play place (boo). American dream is also a brand new mall, MOAs theme park area was built about 30 years ago. They did a great job adding new attractions in that confined space. It can't compete with a 30 year newer building.
"These parks rely on the mall's food options" Lol, if only there were tenets in American Dream. As of last month when I went, the only "restaurant" open was a Dunkin Donuts. I don't see this getting any better honestly. With American Dream opening up during a Pandemic, as well as its isolated location and being worlds away from any sort of public transit, and the fact they are planning to CHARGE for parking (at a f#$&ing mall)... why would literally any business want to pay rent at a place that actively discourages people from casually coming in to shop in this way? The ONLY people I could imagine visiting the place are tourists who are simply there to go to the waterpark or amusement park, as I was. & given the insane, mind boggling price of admission to the 2 parks, NOBODY in their right mind is going to want to spend even more money in the mall afterwards. I get the reasons for a fixed entry price at the waterpark, but the way they structured Nickelodeon Universe is idiotic. Although I was there specifically for the waterpark, it sure was sad to pass up on Sandy & Shellraiser since I couldn't just pay per ride. Charging $70 for a park with literally 2 rides I actually care about is so dumb. Although the waterpark does slap, I can't help but somewhat cheer for the downfall of American Dream's current management. They are so elitist for thinking people would come out in droves to pay 3x the normal rate for a waterpark AND be willing to deal with $20 parking fees... AT A MALL. It's just wrong.
And I just saw Nickelodoen Universe raised their weekend price to $90 and I heard you have a time slot regardless if you're there on a weekend or weekday. Many of the decisions this park is making confuses me, but if they're making money I can't blame them.
The park at the Mall Of America is my most frequented park. I have been going to it since the Camp Snoopy days when I was little, and it will ALWAYS be my home park, even though I am not from the Twin Cities.
@@CanobieCoaster Most of the times I have been to the MOA it has been Nick U, so I would have to say that, plus there are some more thrill rides there now with that theme. I was really little and not yet a thrill ride rider yet when it was Camp Snoopy.
Actually, American Dream mall Is not fully complete yet. They actually just opened it to get more money. They might add some updates to the park and to the Mall.
Okay, I'll give Nick Universe in NJ A chance, Remember that it will receive the energy from the mall, it just won't be as apparent, Also Note that this, The Dreamworks Water Park, the rink, the upcoming theatre and Big Snow, are all going to be record-breakers. In case you were wondering for stats, the theatre will feature 180,000 seats in one theatre, of course for the Rink, being the first all-year-round skating rink, a good alternative for NYC residents, and of course the record-breaking coasters for the Nick U, and you will know the record-breakers for The Water Park.
Everything made sense besides the 1 point for mall of america for the ghost blaster ride and the whole 2 points for the "outdoor experience" cause they have more tree at mall of america its supposed to be an indoor park its the concept it shouldn't have to give you an outdoor experience sure its nice but still 2 point is kinda overkill
I'm confused with your point system. Seems as if you were randomly giving some things half points. Then when it came to mall of America you started giving 2 points. I mean how were you deciding your point system ? Lol seems like you were biased with mall of america. I'd say overall mall of America definitely has a better atmosphere and look but american dream seems superior
Nickelodeon Universe at American dream is missing the log flume ride and a dark ride, also I like the MOA has that fly over America ride, it’s Disney like. I always said that’s what we were missing at our mall. Congrats to you Minnesota!
To be honest, I wanted to visit Mall of America just because of the Hexentanz flat ride, but I only just found out it's been removed.. So coaster wise, the one in NJ looks way more appealing to me and definitely on my list for next coaster tour of America.
@@CanobieCoaster Yeah I found that one but it means I'd have to stay through September and go extreme northwest for one ride.. will see how it all pans out, thanks.
I grew up going to what we called Camp Snoopy. I remember the Mighty Axe getting stuck about every week. The horror stories about people being stuck upside down for hours were regular news to us as kids. It wasn't even a fun ride but I still rode it because the possibility that it could get stuck was a big thrill.
Canobie: I grew up in Minnesota from early 90s until 2014. Went to Camp Snoopy more than I can count, and even Nickelodeon Universe a fair amount at MOA. I now am in PA so closer to American Dream and should give it a go just for the sake of it all but seeing this video: made me miss MOA and Our “indoor” park so much and realize it IS the better place. I know you didn’t cover the amenities of each respective mall, but I felt you failed to mention Fly Over America that’s within Nick Universe. While not affiliated, it is one very fun attraction. Lastly, MOA is just so opportunistic. With all its shops, food and other things to do; it’s where I’d choose to go any day. Thanks for the video. 🙂
I've never been to American Dream's version of the park, but I prefer the original Mall of America location because of its proximity (I live in Minnesota, specifically Maplewood) and the fact that I grew up going to that park. Heck, I still go there to this day!
I went to the Minnesota location. I first visited this park back in 2010, then came back 12 years later in 2022. In the latter year, I only filmed a few rides while my aunt Karen was doing a review. I'm coming back to the park this summer and I will be filming more rides with Karen and Lilly, both of which will be doing reviews.
Haven't been yet, planning for my kids birthday, but would like to point out that the 'pay if the price goes up' is actually applied to ticket exchange, not purchases. This is because they charge more for things like holidays/weekends so they don't want people paying the low weekday price then changing it for higher priced holiday tickets for free. People will take advantage of the system Suu they had ti find a way to close the loophole.
I recommended to do this video! Thanks for doing it! MOA is nice but a lot of rides are kids only so that is a downfall but it is cheaper. My jaw dropped when I heard the American dream price that’s like Six Flags. I do hope to get to American dream though when visiting family back in NY soon.
A Six Flags season pass good at all their parks all year (if bought during the Labor Day sale) is the same price as a one day ticket to the NJ Nickelodoen Universe.
Frankly, I think that the Nickelodeon Universe at American Dream and every ride there is ass except one ride. And that ride is Kraang Prime Pandamonium. Yep. A Fricking pendulum ride is better than all the rides at Nickelodeon Universe at American Dream. A fricking pendulum ride. and the Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America is not ass.
Yea go MOA, Winner Winner Winner. The original and not copycat. The thing is you’re comparing a theme Park that been at a mall for way much longer, so not much you can change about that. Awhile the other one is new and it can what the original one has and out do it more. I was at the debut the MOA of the Nickelodeon theme park. I went there and saw some celebrities. Idt the NJ has a stage place for performances, celebrities whatever... and other things like the MN one does. Also the MN one had the debut of World Championship Wrestling Monday Night Nitro there in the 90’s or debut of 2000’s. Also I know the NJ don’t a Fly Of America ride and restaurants in the theme park. Also the MOA has a theater there and some other few cool things there. Does the NJ have arcaded and fair games to win prizes?
I don't think New Jersey has an arcade in their park. My issue with the NJ one is mostly the aesthetic and there isn't a way to fix that unless they completely overhaul the building, which won't happen.
If you liked Log Chute at Nickelodeon Universe Minnesota, then you better ride Chiapas at Phantasialand. Built by Intamin, it has exactly the same feats you are looking for. Superb theming, a great soundtrack, and the rest in just as complete a package as the Log Chute. I haven't ridden it yet, so that's judging by the POV.
three years later here's a status report : american dream now has more admission options but the best one is probably the night pass or smthn where you can ride any ride you want in the last 2 hours of the park for like half the money for an all day pass but nickelodeon universe is still struggling from down time which a video blamed it on understaffing
in my opinion(n o hate I think the NJ Nickelodeon universe is better again my. opinion im going here this summer and. already went it has the steepest drop in the world for shellraiser and i think that pretty cool
Could somebody please help me with this? I want to go see Paw Patrol characters with my 2 yo kid. Which one is better for that and his age? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR FEEDBACK!!
I was there with my family three times now and it is a great park.. there is re-entry when u wish to go shopping and come back.. btw the parking in the American dream mall is only $3 dollars all day.. I don’t know where he got 30 dollars from.. not true and I go to that mall all the time.. the rides do get service while ur there but it’s for safety reasons bc u don’t want to b stuck in a ride for hours if it gets damage.. Jersey has very strict rules about that.. the locations isn’t bad and I don’t care about glass ceiling.. for that then go to great adventure and do it all outside.. the log ride can’t compare to splash mountain at Disney world..
Shellraiser rolled back. It's shocking to me a modern launch coaster has no way to automatically reset itself, but the car stranded itself halfway down the launch track. This was late October. I think it reopened the next day.
@@adventuresbyalex6511 Sandy's has been open since the park reopened. I believe Shellraiser rolled back during a test, but it happened before I arrived.
And I’ve made up a band with my favorite cartoon characters called “The Pepsi Orange Streakers” in honor of the ride there. Lineup Alex (Me)-Lead Guitar/Vocals Jenny Wakeman-Bass/Lead Vocals Mordecai-Rhythm Guitar/Vocals Tsumugi Kotobuki-Keyboard/Synth Manic the hedgehog-Drums
I haven't been to the location at American Dream yet, but I bet I'd pick the location at Mall of America because of how that park has a better variety of ride options with the Log Chute and Ghost Blasters.
Let's not forget the water park, ski slope , mirror maze, mini golf course, museum, laser tag, aquarium, ice skating rink now included at American Dream mall. I think as far as overall indoor theming experience, without the whole mall experience, American dream mall is far better. For the overall whole Mall experience along with some indoor theming included Mall of America, takes the cake. It's obviously the more established of the two.
The only good thing i like about NJ theme park is that dispatches are faster, so it means you can go to the rides faster. However in MA you have to wait for the employe to scan you wristband before you go on the ride. So it means you have to wait longer. Which makes the line longer in Minnesota. But I still think both parks are unquine! Thanks for making the video. :)
I been to Mall of America and then American Dream Nickelodeon universe 2 weeks after and I felt like there’s more thrill rides than mall of America. Also to mention that the the thrill rides at American Dream are bigger. Lucky to live 3 hrs away from the American Dream
And here in Phoenix, now the 5th largest city in America, we have 1 little 5 acre park with two roller coasters each a 45 second ride, a little traveling carnival log ride and a couple of other rides and mini golf. I don't understand why a city this size (5 million + in the greater Phoenix Metro) can't have a huge indoor amusement park like this! We need it!
