This is such a fantastic video and really useful. Mini bags have been such a trend but I haven't been able to wrap my head around them being practical or useful so it's amazing to see just how much you can squeeze into the Chanel rectangular mini flap. I watched your video like a year ago. I finally got my first Chanel bag yesterday!!! I ended up going for the small classic flap with caviar leather SHW. I’m just so in love with it. It’s the most perfect size for my height and body build 😍 Thank you so much Mel for your video. I learned a lot about the Chanel bags from it.
Thanks Mel. So informative. I've been to the boutiques but they don't always have them all to compare at once. I'm also a Melbourne girl. Love your silver mini rectangular but I think I may be a little late to secure one. I think my first purchase will definitely be a mini rectangular as I love the option of cross body and at 5'7" I think this is my best option. This size can also be a stunning evening bag.
This was such a great video... I've learned so much, helping me to choose right. But still haven't made the decision yet... I'm going for my first Chanel bag and right now I tend to wear more cross body bags, but I do believe as I'm getting older, the M/L classic flap will be the best choice, since I can see myself still wearing this bag when I'm 40. Only decision left is caviar or lambskin.
I enjoy watching the comparison of all Chanel bags. I think they are all good for all occasion and the Pink Chanel bag can suit your style to look feminine or in jeans when going out!!!

It's valuable info as I am working to build my own collection & I am fairly new to adding Chanel handbags. My very first Chanel bag purchase was couple years ago with the classic caviar woc. Love it but chain drop on that is so long. I am 5'4. So i shorten that one. I absolutely love the mini's. I have been waiting for at least a couple of years I think to get hold of a black caviar with shiny silver hw square mini, have missed due to timing. I had my heart set on the square shape as from reviews shows that the chain drop is shorter & would suit me better. Recently I couldn't pass up on a square mini in black and white caviar (monochrome look) but the chain drop on that is super long - measures at almost 67cm! Definitely have to shorten chain on that to be able to wear. From this it seems to me not only does the type of leather changes from collection to collection, the chain drop can vary as well. Have you come across this? As I thought, chain drop length would be the same. I was so surprised that a black caviar mini came up in this new autumn/winter collection, but was only available in rectangular shape in my local boutique (I'm in Europe). I was torn whether to go with rectangular mini or should I wait to get the square if one could be transferred, but in the end I decided to go with the rectangular shape. In this collection, even the interior is lined with the classic burgundy leather & the rim of the outer back pocket is in burgundy leather which shows just a peep of the burgundy - nice touch. Mel, you have a wonderful handbag collection. It is lovely and I loved hearing your recommendations. As you have a great collection - do you have a preference over the square mini or the rectangular mini? Which one do you love more?
Hi lovely, It's my absolute pleasure and I'm really glad you found it so helpful as that was the aim of this video :) Yes I have heard that the chain lengths can differ slightly on a square mini but not to the extent of your black and white one. That length seems very long! In terms of availability, yes Chanel releases the minis at different times of the year. This autumn/winter there are rectangular minis but not square and then another collection will only have square and no rectangles so if you see something you really love, def get it! I haven't seen the black mini from this collection yet but the burgundy details sounds like a great touch so I'm happy to hear you got it! There is definitely room for a square and rectangle in your collection hehe At the moment I am loving my rectangle mini more than my square but only by a little. I like where the rectangle sits on me better cross body and the fact that mine fits a touch more. Can you fit more in your square or rectangle? Mel in Melbourne thank you for your reply. Yes! I was also in disbelief with the black white one. Had to measure it a few times. Huge difference. I've tied it with ribbon for now but definitely will check with my SA about the bag clips. The black&white square mini is calfskin,smooth leather texture compared to my caviar rectangle mini. The rectangle mini fits more than the square. I fancy adding lambskin for my next bag as I don't own any. No idea on what colour combination, type of pattern, square or rectangle. Lots options there. Haha. I'm glad I went ahead & purchased my black rectangle mini, couldn't pass up on the opportunity. My SA told me they were only sent 5. Wondering if you have any tips or experience with getting out transfer dye on patent leather? I had bought a pre loved turquoise extra mini & on back of it has some small dye marks, which was aware of but just love the colour that much to get it. Normally, is very picky, if have marks as such I avoid. It is only small & is on back of bag, everywhere else is in great condition. But just thought would try to see if could remove. Hey babe, great comparison 😄 my favorite is my M/L and rectangular mini. The former is great for work or days I want to look more classy and elegant while the latter is no brainer for a smart casual look. I love my Small classic flap! we do get many seasonal colours here in the UK. But i do agree it fits the same amount as a mini. but i love that its part of the classic line.

Althought I'm really liking the reissue now. Specially the 224 in chevron. If I saw both the small classic and reissue in store I would be in dilemma!😅😅

Even though I have watched several videos comparing each of these size bags, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this as you are only a little bit taller than me. My first Chanel piece is a super dark navy lambskin M/L double flap bag with GHW which I bought preloved. I think I would find it very hard to buy a smaller bag now as I find it fits what I need (a card case, blood glucose monitor, keys, pen, notebook, lipstick and insulin pen). I think I would find it hard to put a full sized pen into a mini and unfortunately I need my insulin pen with me. I also have um and ah-ed about considering a jumbo, but I think it may end up looking and being a little large on me. I think the M/L is best for my lifestyle plus they do seem to have a really good seasonal color range for that size here in Australia. By the way, I really liked the pink color of your M/L bag. Keep up the great quality videos you release.

I just had my friend purchase the small black classic caviar with silver hardware for me. It’s pretty difficult to get here in the US and she was able to find it at the Chanel Heathrow airport in London. I only use mine for going out and so I preferred the small. I ❤️ mine

Thanks hunnie! Yes the proportions of the small are just gorgeous, looks more like a shrunk down jumbo I think. I guess the good news is at least the small is a bit cheaper now? :) Even though capacity wise it fits the same a mini, I do find the quality of my small CF better than my mini. Great review! I got the same classic flaps in small size with black cavier and GHW in Vietnam. I'm 1m53 tall only, and it's the perfect Chanel bags to me, the most elegent bag I've ever owned. I can wear it like a formal bag and a night party bag as well. Highly recommend for people who's as small as me ^.^.

Mel, I just got a dark navy Caviar small CF at the Chanel boutique at Narita airport. The color is so beautiful and rare with champagne gold HW. My goal was to find a small black champagne gold HW CF. However, the dark blue one caught my eyes right away when the SA opens the bag closet. The small size must be more popular in Japan. I have seen a 5-6 small CF in black lambskin at vintage stores in this trip, no caviar small CF though. I couldn't help wonder if I made a right decision not to get the " classic black". What do you think?
Do show us similar style videos for your other branded luxury handbags. Also do review other unheard brands of bags apart from the usual brands. It gives us viewers a better perspective of what is out there worth exploring, as many do not have the $$$$ to spend on luxury priced bags. Thanks Mel

And I also wanna share my experience on Chanel bag. Last year I bought a pre-loved medium classic flap bag. It's gorgeous and in excellent condition but I thought it's a little too big when I wear it because I'm a small person, 152 cm. tall. So I decided to sell it. After that I bought a mini rectangular because I think the price is reasonable comparing to a small flap. But I still wanted to have a small flap because the size looks so cute. Then I watched this vdo and even getting the information that a mini reg fits the same amount as a small flap, I finally bought a small flap last month when I found a good deal pre-loved one. Now I really fall in love with it 😄.

Oh my gosh the pink caviar M/L....I sold my M/L black caviar shw that I bought in 2014 and have regretted it so many times...It went up from $4400 to $5800, and I so wish I had kept! Wondering now if I should go ahead and get the pink caviar in its place, though do love the lambskin....
