Yeah, I agree with the fender thing. Something to also keep in mind while riding onewheels are helmets. Most people wear cpsc helmets (which arent safe), when they should be actually wearing an nta helmet like xnito or bern
This was an excellent review and comparison video between the 2 OW's! I'm new to OW and took my first ride on a pint. I was already thinking the XR would be a better choice for me. The Pint seemed a little small and felt like a small skateboard with looser trucks. I think a feel of a longer board will suit me. I'm a senior dude and not looking for radical shred rides, more like cruising with some clean trail riding. Thanks for the edit! 👍🏼🤙🏼
I used to nose dive, I think there's a honeymoon phase where you get the feel for the board - lots of nosedives, false starts and crappy dismounts. Somewhere around 500 miles I stopped nosediving and have a good feel for the board and the motor's stress level.
Some great point you make. Hopefully you don't re upload or change the name of the vid so I loose my comments this time. I bought the pint 3 months ago and have about 300km on it. I just got the XR and have about 3 rides on it. The first down fall for both is they don't come with a battery port cover. I love the pint for all the reasons you list but for me it was the range as well. I saw no point in upgrading the battery as it was just better to put the money into an XR. I don't own a smart phone so the battery gauge on the pint was great. I am going to have to figure out a volt meter for the XR. I would also like to upgrade the XR tire, I miss the carvy tire of the pint. I have big feet as well and I feel the XR fits me better. I would like to upgrade the foot pads someday. Which foot pads did you get? How do you like them?
I got the kush high for the back and that came with grip tape for the front. I love the kush pad but honestly, the new grip tape front and back is the real game changer. That stock grip tape is good for about a day before it wears out.
Can confirm bad batches of OW boards. Just bought one today from a retailer, brand new that didn't turn on. I called the retailer and had them check the one other they had in stock. Same problem. They talked to the sales rep. that said a batch got through and were DOA. They readily went down to their warehouse and found some that did turn on and said they'd check all the others. Newish companies are always prone to quality control issues, that's partly why I've waited so long to buy one, but I suppose 4 years wasn't enough time.
@@MikeErickson yea I actually been in talks with future motion on creating something for everyone who is a huge supporter of the onewheel community to be an ambassador get merch and when u get people to buy onewheels u get money saved up to get another Onewheel or get paid and I been talking to them about creating a sport for the northern east area where we can have races too instead of going to California
Yeah, like a partners program. I have one of those with the onewheel re-seller up here in Canada. Seems like a no-brainer to me - reward the people who are working for your brand.
You are missing the con for price for the XR. The speed difference is negligible so the only real pro of the XR over the pint is the range. I love the stronger pushback because I don’t don’t want to nosedive so I’m fine going an average 11 or 12 mph to save myself a nosedive. I am interested in the XR but with the extra range being the only benefit IMO and with me just riding to get my stoke on I just can’t bring myself to justify the price
You sound like me before picking up the XR - justifying why I don't need an xr. The pint is great and one onewheel is better than none. But the XR is better in almost every way - but that is reflected I the price. Nobody on floatlife is riding a pint and the should tell you something.

@@andersb7 yeah for sure - I think we're all waiting on that new board. Alternatively, I've grown to love the modular build of the XR. It's so much better on the trails so it leads to riding trails more. Once you do it becomes pretty clear that the design of the XR is purposeful to replace damaged parts. Dent a side rail? replace it. Wreck a sensor pad? Replace it. I've decided this might be the best feature of the onewheel over other electric rideables - simple and rugged over delicate and beautiful. The pint has this feature as well - just more plastic.
Seeing that your main gripe with Pint was range, I wonder if it would be more worth it to get a quart battery to drastically increase the range rather than spending all of that extra money on the XR or GT.
I got a Pint a while ago. I love everything about it except the range. Now my question is, do I purchase an XR, or wait for a new product to be announced?
I would say that, judging from the latest premier 'release' from onewheel (a video where they removed the board and showed people just hovering) future motion is still in no rush to update the XR - but who can say! If I were you I would just get it - the extra range makes a huge difference! And the board just rides nice.
Great Video Would love to hear your thoughts on what you want to see in the next XR and Pint versions. For me the XR I want shocks, long range, and battery. I’ve only rented so far but birthday is coming up soon… but I’m torn between buying now or knowing that January 2022 they announce a new board.
Oh, are they announcing a new board? Finally! Honestly, in my opinion if they added the light bar (like the pint) to the XR it would be perfect. The xr certainly doesn't look great but I think it's designed to be modular so you can replace parts as you need them - which works great for me and my trail riding. I feel like as they update the design it's likely we'll lose some of the capacity to easily change parts. Obviously suspension would be great (certainly a game changer for mountain bikes and EUCs), but it'll add weight and maintenance. When I think about it I'm really happy with the XR the way it is. I just wish I could check the battery without the app.
@@MikeErickson I’m sorry I didn’t mean to imply they were announcing anything. I’m just going based off of former history. I think if not for Covid they would’ve announce a updated board this year. By next year it will be four years since the XR has been on the market with now real changes.
Long range and battery kinda go hand in hand. It has great range already. And shocks would take away from the ride itself. It’s meant to feel like snow boarding or wake boarding. Your body is the shock. If you own one now and have learned to ride more often I think you’ll understand what I’m saying. Also the XR is just basically updated software and battery, the board itself has been around since 2014x
@@MikeErickson insanely different. The main difference that you can immediately notice is the feeling of a buttery cloud that wasn’t really there before. Another thing is that you don’t get pushback at 13 mph. You can ride with pushback up to 20 mph, but the nose on the v1 is so high, it feels like you are pushing against a wall. With the xr, you can just cruise at whatever speed you like. Again, that buttery feeling is everything.
@@MikeErickson Yeah the v1 was basically the feeling of riding on pint pushback, except pushback doesn't really push you back, it kind of leans you back while accelerating forward! lol it took me a sec how to word that correctly. incredible invention!!
Not sure if it's the size of the town or it's location. Interior of bc so there's still very few onewheels up here, but those comments are certainly fewer these days than a couple years ago.
I'd say if all the points he made about the comfort of the board and the pushback going on earlier on the board do not matter to you, then upgrading the battery makes sense. Otherwise might as well get an XR
Have you saw the "growler"? I like my Pint because I have small feet, and feel I have more control. I've made my Pint a paracord handle because I didn't trust the mag handle with my new battery-fender. Nice vid and nice to see you!
Thanks Judith! Yeah, the growler - maybe one day I'll upgrade when my rails are all shredded. There's a Prowler as well (basically a pint motor in an XR frame) - basically the most expensive onewheel because you need both boards. Love our crazy mod community!

You have an issue with XR pushback? I actually appreciate the pushback in the xr - let's me know I'm past the run out speed. The pint however is just annoying.
And we have 1 xr and 2 pints and a plus the pint and plus totally crapped out in under 121 miles each and with in 2 1/2 months so you might be rite and my husbands pint has been in for repairs 5 times now and he is a pro rider so yeah your probably on to something with the bad batch theory
Neither one, until they let us replace our own damn batteries in our "brand new model" GTs we bought out of patronage to a company we THOUGHT was so great. Come on FM. Why do this after all these years of awesome?
I think the modding wizards will figure this out with enough time - but I agree, deciding where to spend money is the best way to promote change! But also, the GT is freakin awesome!
