Studying psychology involves different career paths depending on which psychology degree you choose. The subfields of psychology specific to South Africa each have their own scope of practice, which I describe in this video.

i’m only in 6th grade and already studying psychology, i’ve always wanted to study many psychology’s, i’m currently studying forensic psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology, social psychology, and neuropsychology! of course i’m studying them one by one. my favorite is social psychology!

Ayabonga Nkohliso you’re most welcome, thank you for watching & engaging! 🤗✨ I’m at the University of Johannesburg, the university is great for the most part - there are lots of opportunities to excel if you look for them & the lecturers are really helpful & kind 🧡 Some advice if you plan on applying, make sure all your admin is sorted, from my experience the humanities faculty is really disorganized & aren’t helpful 🙃 Be persistent if you need help as it is their job after all and always keep the dates & names of people who helped you 🙌🏽 Good luck with your studies 🌸🌸

Mbali J apparently our government doesn’t provide nearly enough funding to allow institutions to train us 😒 Which makes no sense because like you said, SA needs psychologists ☹️🤯

@@MbaliJ the reason is on the training intensity and available space for clinical training as part of your masters is that you must practical work an that can only be managed by enough supervisors for limited students.

Hi!! really appreciate the video! could you please let me know if I have to conduct research and do research as a Clinical psychologist? because I am only interested in therapy rather than research. So is it compulsory to do that?

Hi Vinisha, research is a compulsory aspect of the clinical psychology masters degree. Once you are registered as one, I’m not sure what happens from there - it is best to speak to a licensed clinical psychologist and enquire 🙌🏽

Are you talking about high school subjects? If so, then you have to check the university’s prospectus (you’ll find it on their website) as they all have different requirements 🤗
