After Demoing a couple round balers showing which baler we decided to go with. #farming #dairyfarm #equipment #roundbaler #johndeere #kuhn #claas #case
Congratulations on your purchase. I hope it serves you guys well. I like Kuhn products…. I’ve used enough of them… the V spreaders, the vertical mixers, the double rakes, the mergers etc etc. I hope your bailer will last to for many many many years. Great video
Thanks for your analysis and review. We're replacing a NH 634 and are leaning toward either a Kuhn 3155 or Kubota 4160. I appreciate all the information.
To be honest I think New Holland is loosing there edge in the hay making department. Everybody is that I know is moving away from them due to the quality really isn’t there anymore
I agree with that statement. We moved away from them with their Tedder and rotary rake. Switched to a krone. Never demoed one just went by a few good reviews. Definitely the best decision we have EVER made
Im glad you never went with a case/ new holland baler. The last 2 new holland balers (br780, br7090) are junk after about 15000 bales. Our john deere 569 is great but dont like the net wrap but we also got a vermeer 605N and the net wrap system is second to none the best. The monitor is crazy good. Built like a freight train and will be no more new hollands and will be many more john deere and vermeer balers.
I got a little trick for ya if your hay balls up under the tongue is take an old mud flap off a semi and cut a hole in it and slide it on the tongue before you hook it up and it will push the hay down and around the tongue and hitch pin
For us small farmers especially, and all farmers as far as that is concerned, not getting beat to death by the high cost of equipment in some way is vital. As you explained very well, with the trade in and getting a good price for the new baler, you have done the best a person can do. Having parts and a good dealer close is also so extremely important. Well done! Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)
Awesome! Availability of parts nearby dealerships [I repeat dealership(s)] plus a favorable trade-in on the diskbine,.... A pretty smart decision I think. (And I feel you angst in the haymow) anyway hope you get many years of good service.
Just a couple of things you might try, I always turn the drawbar over to gain clearance for the windrow and keep the pin from dragging material. I also made a bellypan for the tractor from a sheet of plastic. My last suggestion goes back to your baling video is to concentrate on filling the sides of the bales, run one side and then move to the other side if you just weave back and forth you may have a tendency to overfill the center of the bales that will give them a slight football shape. Beyond that I think you made a good choice having multiple dealers available to get parts is awesome.
They a great baler. I liked the Deere for the net but that's it. No soft core kit, no drop floor and they still back in the 8 series when every one else is with the times. But the Deere price is always up there. I would have liked a McHale but they low balled me on a trade 10k less than anybody else. Lot's of used 460's here been traded on Kuhn or McHale. I ended up with a CIH 455 and have 4000 on it had a few sensor issues but been good and it will eat the hay. Cheers
Good luck, this should really lighten your workload during the summer. I was always stacking in the barn. Until your little guy gets older you need all the help you can get.
For quick n easy round bale storage try hay tarps stacked 3 then 2 n 1 on top , hay comes out just like the day it was baled , stacked on skids or old tires . I get mine from Rocky Meadow farm sized to fit your bale size n shipped by FedEx from PA .very economical storage
Congratulations on your new purchase! It's a really nice looking piece of equipment and hopefully it will provide you many many years of good service! Thanks for taking the time to share why you bought it! 👍😎
Sounds like manufacturers need to make better products, because it seems that farm equipment is always bought because of the availability of service and parts rather than personal choice or performance. Far too many breakdowns, combine and baler fires, etc. Do they all use crappy metal or design with bad tolerances, or what?
It’s good to see your able to update some equipment. I look at a few things I just bought, wait a minute, that was 10 years ago! Time flies and equipment get old.
I like how everyone becomes an authority on what brand you should be trying out. I would really like to hear your story on Kabota. Sounds like you have lots of warm and fuzzy feelings for them. Lol
Haha, people have been telling us what brands we should use for years Jeff! No problems with Kubota. The dealership near us that sells Kubota is the problem. Their parts guys are good but the service isn't that good. Pretty sad when we have to have John Deere come fix our New Holland stuff
Excellent investment there sir... well done.. 👏 shure you'll have it a long time... one note on the display position try fitting it between the right hand pillar and the rear one.. you'll see why when you try.. .. kuhn spreader next the 😮😊 iso compatible is handy.. stay safe 🏴
No Vermeer makes net wrap balers. I think every manufacturer makes a baler with net wrap. Vermeer actually makes a self propelled round baler. Looks really cool
Great video I think you made the right decision for your farm. Good parts and service go a long way. It’s a shame some dealers aren’t as willing to work with trade ins.
Congrats, on picking a very nice baler , you’ll be very happy with it, can’t wait for more videos from you with it and just all your great videos . Thank you mike
Ive used the 4250 and 4055 on it. the 4250 is running at 120 pto hp and the 4055 is running at 130 pto hp. Both ran it fine. the 2940 and 4040 is a little under sized for it and the 4555 is way too much tractor for it
Hey .thats the right decision !! It must not on all machines at the farm blind the John Deere company logo !! Many John Deere Fans and contractors in germany buy a kuhn baler .because the round bale net turns in front of the machine and you could control the function of the winding process . I wish you all times good work with the new baler . !! I would it buy with the knives model . Best greetings from East-Frisia from north west germany from Bert !
We bought a new Vermeer last year and we love it. But nowadays I think most brands are gonna bale good. I think it comes down how close the dealership is to you. If one brand is 2hrs away, and another brand is 30 mins, it’s hard to justify that 2hr drive!
@@mikep7810 pretty simple baler! Ours doesn’t have a bale ramp and we actually prefer it like that. We farm a lot of hillsides. I feel you have more control when ejecting the bale!
Looks like a nice baler Mike, should be a good machine for yu, we're very happy with the 4760 hesston cutter we got over the winter, but it's a 3x3 and no a round baler because of our hills
@@mikep7810 lol, I like case tractors, their hay equipment I'm not a fan of at all, the hesston we got will out eat a similar year new holland, like you said though parts availability is the big thing
On the main screen of the monitor in the upper left hand corner you will see your bale size. You can tough the monitor and it will bring up numbers so you can adjust to make 4x4 up to a 4x5. Not sure if the 3185 goes larger then 4x5 or not. Next to that you will see a number of how many wraps of the net. You can touch that and adjust it to any number you want. Respooling the wrap is done in the front of the baler and there should be a picture to show you the direction. I'm shocked the dealer didn't go over it with you. Mine went over everything and told me if I needed anything to call him and he'll come back and show me
Proud owner of John Deere 575 round baller here. I am based in Croatia, and I am looking worldwide for spare parts. In need for cable plugin on computer housing. Anyone knows where to get it?
@@mikep7810 done already. Specific part is no longer supplied. Its replaced in second gen of ballers, 578 worldwide. I am left with either scrapyards or owners who mothballed its machine.
@@mikep7810 I currently have a John Deere 450m have not been impressed with bale density John Deere has struggled to make it better we are on our third hydraulic valve tension block it is finally doing a better job my old 459 made a good Bale just demoed a claas 460 rollant density was okay shape was terrible. Currently have 450 New Holland that we have demoed made an excellent dense bale but not impressed with the pickup head with the stub augers very easy to plug the pickup head. They want me to demo a kuhn next waiting for that to come down. Thanks for the videos
@justinpoulin5123 The stub augers were the one thing that concerned me about the new holland. Love the bale it made. That surprises me about the claas. My buddy makes some really tight bales with his. I think you will like the kuhn
I hope you made a good pick with the Kuhn. A great day for me was seeing my JD 530 on the truck leaving, with a NH baler taking it's place . It' had the knife kit in it, and made great bales that fed out well. Hope you are satisfied with your buy, I know how frustrating it can be when a baler doesn't work right.👍
