Which Savage Bolt Lift Kit do you Need? 

Dude thank you for this comment! I have a light strike issue in both of my axis and I pray this will be the issue so I can correct it

@@1badombre82 If you do shorten the pigtail spring you don't use the spacer. I had bought 2 Axis in 25-06, one for me and one for my nephew and both had that light strike issue. One was so bad it looked like a 10 year old did it by hand without supporting the coil to make the bend and waay over did the bend on pig tail used as a retainer. You could see the un-eveness in the gaps on the entire length of the short spring with the pigtail, and it had 3 rub points where it was binding on the firing pin that were galling the finish and shaving some metal off the firing pin and inside of the spring. The real bad one we had to cut the spring down as a Q-tip inserted in the coil and pulled back would snag and grab cotton so it was clearly damaged from all that rubbing. I found metal shavings in the bolt body. That worked so well we ordered a second kit. The one that wasn't as bad, didn't snag any cotton so we used a metal rod to support the coil portion like anyone with an IQ above 40 would actually do the first time and re-bent the spring and used the spacer on that one. Both ways work fine. They are a really nice, decent budget platform and accurate. Savage just needs better Quality Control, to answer e-mails in under 3 weeks, etc., etc. It's a common enough problem all over the internet that enough people are having that If it were me building them I'd make a real simple and real inexpensive fixture with Go and No Go rods turned to the right diameters to slip them over and check the springs for binding before assembly so I wouldn't ruin my reputation and sales. Now that I know how to cure it, I'm going to check the local gun shops to get a used donor rifle to build a 6.5-06 Ackley with for cheap. It's one of the most common reasons these otherwise nice rifles get resold or traded, and I'm gonna take advantage of it! I already picked up a wood stock from Boyd's, the bedding pillars and magazine catch from Desh to start that project.

I may as well take this opportunity to share my build. I got a 308 lefty axis. Got a custom 20 inch bull barrel with threaded muzzle made by apache gun works. Did the headspacing myself. Milled the stock to free float it and filled the stockwith jb weld. A cheap trigger job. Steel rail and steel rings. 10x swfa scope in milrads. And made my own extended bolt knob. Shoots half moa or better with hunting ammo but I still feel like I have room to improve it lol.

Yes and Savage is making more variants lol.

Just hand tighten. I sometiems finger tighten my own.

I sometimes use a 3ft cheater bar.

Put the Allen wrench in and align it so that the wrench in on the floor and the bolt handle is above it, use a piece of carpet under it and step on the bolt handle. It should loosen the BAS.

A quick blip with a impact gun makes short work of the bolt,don't let the tool hammer on it just a blip

They are called light strikes. Its seams common with certain spring and firing pin configurations. My most recent video addresses it.
