I've been told for the past 4 years with you guys to do goof proof at 325F.
@transferexpress
@transferexpress 2 года назад
325F is the correct application temperature for Goof Proof on polyester or heat-sensitive garments. We recommend 365F for 100% cotton or 50/50 blends or cotton dominant tri-blends.
@Airith
@Airith 2 года назад
@@transferexpress I'm very confused. I was told the new formula used for goof proof now allows it to be on all at 325. We've been pressing on cotton at this heat due to that information.
@transferexpress
@transferexpress 2 года назад
The new formula for goof proof that was released in 2021 can be applied at 325 degrees. However, we recommend the higher temperature at 365F for the lower press time and maximum efficiency printing. We're continually improving our processes and transfers, but we always update any application instructions included with the transfers if anything ever changes.

Hi I noticed you don't teflon covers for your top heat element or sheet over transfer, only bottom platen? Is there a reason for this or recommend withy our transfers? Is the only reason to have those covers to protect the heat elements from smudged ink? I see different people/sellers using covers or not on their presses. Would love your thoughts thank you!! :)
@transferexpress
@transferexpress Год назад
Great question FilmingYu, we don't recommend any teflon sheets or upper platen covers as they block the heat from the heating element. Some decorators will use them to protect and keep their heating elements clean or block heat for those heat-sensitive garments- but then the transfer is not being applied to the recommended instructions, so it's best to ditch them for normal application unless specified. For some cold peel transfers (UltraColor Stretch and UltraColor Soft) we recommend using a paper cover sheet, which just helps eliminate static buildup for that cold peel (the press opening will try to peel the plastic carrier early) Anytime you're adding decoration to a previously printed shirt (say, maybe adding a number or name next to an existing graphic) we do recommend covering any exposed ink as it will stick to the heating element. In the event of an 'oopsie', the heating elements on all Hotronix presses (and some others) are coated with a non-stick coating, making clean up of inks very easy- essentially just using a spare t-shirt to carefully wipe the ink away while still hot.
@filmingyu6623
@filmingyu6623 Год назад
@@transferexpress Thanks so much! For the oopsie scenarios, if the press doesn't have the special non-stick coating to wipe while hot, is there another solution to clean the top heating elements or platens while hot or cold? Do y'all have videos fro cleaning, basic maintenance and for accidents on heating elements/platens on presses?
@transferexpress
@transferexpress Год назад
We do! ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3F7qWhU-JBE.html ) Mild soap and water likely takes care of any ink on the platen when warm. If debris or ink is STUCK on, you can carefully use a plastic scraper... Taking care to not gouge or scratch the heating element. We've heard of decorators using Goo-Gone as a last-ditch effort, just be sure to clean any left over residue off of the heating element before going back to printing apparel. With coated heating elements these powerful chemicals can harm the heating element so we don't recommend them (nor have ever really needed them).

@transferexpress
@transferexpress Год назад
Hi There T.H.M! Good question- The majority of Transfer Express products (like the Goof Proof and Hot Split we show here in this video) will ship from the Chandler, AZ location to you. The only exception to that is UltraColor Max (currently only shipping from Ohio, still just a 2 day transit time maximum). And yes, Stahls.com and transferexpress.com differ a little bit in the product offerings- Stahls you'll find equipment, materials, dimensional emblems and patches, while Transfer Express is mostly custom screen printed and digital transfers with the Easy View Online Designer.

My only issue with GP is the powder adhesive...if you don't wipe off the transfers with a brush or air can...it will press onto the garment...not a deal breaker but does add time to pressing...just something to account for.
@transferexpress
@transferexpress 2 года назад
Are you having issues with it pressing into the shirt and being visible? Any stray adhesive powder will be invisible if pressed into the shirt without ink. The goof proof transfers we pressed in this video had stray adhesive on the sheet. Now, if you have any stray ink on your sheet it, it will show up on the shirt. In which case hit us up and we'll make it right!

For Hot Split, what is the ideal time to press? How can you tell? Is it better to press longer than shorter? Should the ink look like it's melting into fabric? White seems to take longer to press than blue and black, has anyone else noticed this?
@transferexpress
@transferexpress 2 года назад
Hey Tommy! Hot Split should be applied for 8-10 seconds. It's better to press longer (like how we press for 10 seconds in this video) than shorter, but having an accurate temperature and firm pressure is equally important. When applied properly the print should take on the texture of the fabric. Hot split will not apply properly under 360 degrees as there is no adhesive powder on the inks- So checking the accuracy of your heat press with test strips, a surface thermometer or bumping your temperature 10 degrees might be a good idea. Even on our Hotronix presses we opt for the 370 application temperature. If you're having trouble applying your transfers, let us know by submitting a resolution from your account dashboard. Our support team is always quick and happy to help out.

Would either of these work for ribbed clothing such as a tank top or would I need a different product such as elasti-print?
@transferexpress
@transferexpress 2 года назад
Hey Stephen, Goof Proof and Hot Split would both work on a ribbed tank top- It really depends on the fabric type, on 100% cotton, 50/50 blends and triblends Goof Proof will be your best bet. If your tank tops are 100% polyester, Elasti Prints would work the best.

@madlifts1
@madlifts1 2 года назад
Would goof proof be better for a 50/50 active wear shirt
@transferexpress
@transferexpress 2 года назад
Absolutely, Goof Proof would be the best option for a few reasons: First, the high application temperature and extended press time with Hot Split may scorch the polyester fibers in the 50/50 (depending on heat sensitivity which varies from manufacturer and color). Goof Proof could print as low as 325 degrees (with a longer press time) if heat sensitivity is an issue. Second, Goof Proof will stretch and rebound slightly better than Hot Split, giving you a durable, long-lasting print on performance wear. Third, if printing on darker colors Goof Proof will print and appear more opaque and bright than hotsplit.

Would you recommend using hot split on a hoodie or sweatshirt? I like the smooth non sand paper like feeling of the hot split, so im wondering if its recommended for thicker apparel?
@transferexpress
@transferexpress 9 месяцев назад
Since hoodies typically contain a blend of cotton and polyester, Goof Proof will be the best option. With the increased temperature with Hot Split there's a risk of heat sensitivity and with the thicker fabric of a hoodie you won't be able to tell the difference in feel of the print. Goof Proof for the win!

So no Teflon sheet needed when using these transfers??
@transferexpress
@transferexpress Год назад
Nope! No coversheets here, the paper carrier acts as a 'coversheet' when applying, and no additional secondary press is needed. We've found with coversheets (kraft paper, parchment, teflon, rubber, etc) they can block quite a bit of heat, leading to underapplied transfers with these screen print transfers- so it's best to leave them off. If you're worried about damaging the garments with heat you can choose a lower application temperature transfer (like Elasti Prints or UltraColor Max) for those 100% polyester or synthetic garments.
