But, the difference between israel and the countries which used to control Palestine is that Israel is still attacking Palestine. The troubles and the palestine/israel conflict are both wars in which both sides commit acts of revenge and self defense, the troubles was started with many attacks on irish catholics, irish catholics then fought back and a very polarising and dark period ensued in which both sides did some very unfortunate things. Israel and Palestine is similar, because it started with palestine being colonised again, and retaliating out of self defense, and a long and ongoing war ensued where both sifes did bad things. But in both conflicts there was a dominant side which started the wars and helped continue them (along with the non dominant side).
