Which Trail Camera Should You Buy In 2023?

The most asked question on this channel is, which trail camera should you buy in 2023? I have access to 6 from 6 different companies and here I put them to the test to see which trail camera, if any, are what you are looking to buy this year. The 6 various trail cams are the Ceyomur CY65, Elepawl trail camera, Maginon WK4 HDW, Vanbar D700 trail cam, Maxdone PH800 & the Campark TC06 trail camera. Take a look as I test them for day & night picture quality, day & night video quality, sound, battery, how many good shots they all took under the same conditions with the same settings and then discuss the quality before I rate them from last to first.
Which is my favourite? Will your favourite be the same? Do you see one that you like? which should you buy in 2023? I hope this helps some out there and I will be sure to do some in depth trail cam reviews as and when I get them. Remember, this is simply a trail cameras review on the only six I have access to.
Hope it helps a few of you out. Be sure to subscribe to this brand new channel to see lots of trail cam related videos, footage and wildlife tips and tricks.

Just wanted to say thanks for putting in the work to do an actual review video. I was searching for something like this and clicked this with 4 other videos. The other 4 were one that simply spliced together the videos from the manufacturer's websites, and three AI Voice narrated videos that mostly were copy from the manufacturer's websites.

Thanks Dan, great informative vlog, still weighing up what trailcam to get, your trial highlights the many pros and cons in deciding what to go for ! One question, were the cameras a mix of no-glow and low-glow, as I understand no-glow gives softer images ? Cheers, ( Lynne) and Tony.
@DesperateDanDiscovers
@DesperateDanDiscovers Год назад
The Vanbar and the Maxdone were no glow which states 940nm infra red in the specs. The Ceyomur was low glow. Which says something like 850nm. Not sure if it's a different picture. My understanding was it was less light beamed off which can scare animals off. Especially foxes. I think any low or no glow are very good.

As an owner of the NEXCAM Native 4K 60MP 30FPS Wildlife Camera (Same camera as the Campark TC06 but with a different name) your reviews of all the different trail cameras was pretty good. I personally use the The Campark TC06 or NEXCAM TC06 as it's also known for my RU-vid Channel that records Badgers & Foxes. The Campark TC06 (also known as the NEXCAM Native 4K 60MP 30FPS Wildlife Camera) is a popular trail camera for wildlife photography. When using this camera, battery life is a key consideration, especially for frequent nighttime use. The TC06 performs best with 1.5V alkaline batteries and may not reliably trigger the infrared flash at night if only rechargeable batteries are used. This is because rechargeables typically supply a lower voltage. However, a hybrid approach can work well. By using 4 rechargeable batteries along with 4 alkaline batteries, the rechargeables help extend the lifespan of the alkalines. The higher voltage of the alkalines ensures reliable nighttime operation while the rechargeables provide extra capacity. This battery combination enables the TC06 to capture more photos and videos over multi-day periods compared to alkalines alone. Proper battery selection is vital for getting the most out of the Trail Campark TC06 camera. The Campark TC06 uses a small piece of ordinary glass to protect its dual lenses. However, this glass can easily blob with water droplets when it rains, ruining subsequent footage. Applying 1-2 drops of Rain-X to the glass and then gently wiping away any residue after it dries can help mitigate this issue. Rain-X makes glass highly hydrophobic, preventing water beading. This automotive product helps the camera glass shed rain for clearer images. Also, use a small spirit level to precisely level the mounted camera. If the camera is tilted, footage will be off-angle. Taking a moment to level the TC06 ensures you get perfectly framed shots every time. Attention to proper waterproofing and leveling will maximize the performance of this trail camera in all weather conditions.
@DesperateDanDiscovers
@DesperateDanDiscovers Год назад
I've never encountered any of those problems.
@Whiskers_Wings
@Whiskers_Wings Год назад
@@DesperateDanDiscovers I didn't notice anything wrong either when using recharables for quite a while until I noticed the 'lag' setting in the camera was noticabley longer than the original 5 seconds I had set it to. When I used regular, non rechargable batteriers the 'lag' setting of 5 seconds worked, so after the max 3 minutes of recording, the camera would wait 5 seconds before it would fire-up and continue recording the next three minutes. If using only recharable batteries I found that the camera would not fire-up after 5 seconds but much longer afterwards, due to the recharable batteries not giving the camera the nessasary voltage to start the PIR lights!. Hence using a hybrid of standard batteries AND recharable batteries.
@stuartporter9277
@stuartporter9277 11 месяцев назад
Really? That's interesting with reference to mixing the batteries to prolong life. Can I ask what batteries you use? I have just bought the campark tc06 and currently looking for a good battery combo. 👍
@Whiskers_Wings
@Whiskers_Wings 11 месяцев назад
@@stuartporter9277 I use a combination of 4 POWEROWL 2800mAH recharchables as these hold more power and are reasonable in price. As for the 4 non recharble batteries you can pick up almost any cheap batteries like KODAK or PANASONIC from POUNDSHOPS. The cheap non rechargable batteries are only used to powerup the infrared lights on the trail camera where the recharables will then provide the duration of the LED lights. This by far is the 'best'way to power your trail cam. Using only recharables will result in long delays between each activation of your camera as they struggle to provide the initial charge the trail camera needs to fire up it's LED's, thereby losing potential recordings that you could otherwise have recorded.

Good video, have plenty of Chit chats in that wood, all i could hear in the back ground :) Agree with the best choice def had best quality. Only thing i would suggest if you do this type of test again is not to have them all on the same rod running at the same time as it could give false results. Im thinking that as you have 6 odd cameras the IR could give false results as interfering with other cameras in the line up. It would take a lot longer and not give the same physical picture results, but if it was re run with each individual camera running on its own with no other cameras around then that would give a true 100% picture representation with no stray IR lighting. Glad you are finding it fun and a new hobby.

OK, I tried to find where I can buy the TC06. I only found a direct sale from Campark and their website is very dodgy. No physical address, no compliant privacy policy, ... They need to know all your details, but you're not even allowed to know who they are or where they are. That doesn't work for me. It also means they have no warranty service. Having said this: thanks for the honest, unbiased review. Very helpful.
@DesperateDanDiscovers

You are VERY wrong. They are one of or the most recognised trail cam company out there. If you can't trust their website then you can't trust any.
@jacquesmertens3369
@jacquesmertens3369 Год назад
@@DesperateDanDiscovers Please define recognised. It's clear that they offer products of outstanding technical quality, but everything else about them seems just very wrong, at least from my European perspective. Their privacy policy is non-compliant, and for me that's already a big stumbling block. But let's just look at it from a practical point of view. You buy a camera, they send it to you from Hong Kong or from China, and it arrives broken, or it breaks down within the warranty period. What do you do? According to the Campark site you can return a product within 30 days at their expense, and at your own expense after 30 days and up to 12 months after your purchase. The shipping costs are prohibitive. They would be the same or even higher than the purchase price of your camera. In other words: you have 30 days warranty, and that's where your consumer protection ends.
@TravelTrollsTV
@TravelTrollsTV Год назад
@jacquesmertens3369 then don't buy off them then. I couldn't give a toss if you do or not. This was never about Campark the company. This was my review of my trail cameras. Take your issues up with them not me.
