These are what I consider the two best travel guitars on the market today (based on value for money): the Hush-X and the Hush-I Travel guitar. I decided to buy and try both of them to be able to decide which one to keep.
Hush-X Travel Guitar 👉 geni.us/AgJB (Amazon Affiliate Link)

As you’ll notice from the video, I’m not a very experienced electric guitar player, so I can’t show off by shredding, and I don’t talk much about the specs of the guitars, like pickups or volume and tone controls. I only talk about the stuff that I know, but I hope that you’ll still find it helpful to be able to choose a travel guitar.

Of all the reviews I’ve seen yours is the only one that showed the action, which is something to me that is important. Thank you. This is why I have a solid distrust for all those other RU-vid “influencers” that get paid by the companies of the products they review. I was skeptical about why none of them actually showed the action in their reviews. Most didn’t even talk about it. Thank you again for a thorough and honest review.

Great review, thanks. You answered all my quesions that I couldn't get answers to on the Donner website or its reviews, and more. I guess I wouldnt need the cable when travelling with the Hush-X so that would drop a bit of weight.

I'm still skeptical about these guitars especially when it comes to body balancing, and changing of guitar strings and how they hold. But your review has some of the answers I was seeking and probably help me decide which guitar I want. Thanks for the great review and sharing your first hand experience.

Thanks for your review! Honest and unbiased .I’m in the same boat deciding between the two ( I’m not sure my wife would like me buying the two to decide) lol.. I am glad you strummed them unplugged..just to get an idea of the natural sound. The high action on the hush 1 is something I’ve read about and the brackets on the donner hush x are certainly better..I’m leaning towards the hush x.. going to see if there’s any deals.

If you would like the Hush I would suggest waiting for some time. There is a new version coming up which have the same system for the stand as in the Hush X, but you might need to wait at least six months or perhaps even a year. That’s how much I waited for the Hush X once it was first announced.

I just got mine and the strings were trash and the action was just thrown together crooked. Took me almost two hours to fix it and get it tuned and playable. Looked up customer service number and it’s shut down until May 1st 😂. Kind of a joke but atleast mine plays now.
@MarcoPinoGuitar

How did you find the string changing system btw?
@AJNpa80
@AJNpa80 4 месяца назад
If I get one it will be to modify. Think first would be moving strap buttons a bit. Wish the steinberger was as thin like this, available in a burst or wood tone, or that the x had a tremolo. There are some Chinese headless guitar tremolos online, guess I'll figure out if it's possible with fit first. String spacing etc.

Thanks for the video! You really cannot tune to D the default string? It's so weird. So, when you change the string and tune in to D can you tune it back to E again?
@MarcoPinoGuitar
@MarcoPinoGuitar 4 месяца назад
After changing the string the problem was fixed. So yes you can tune it anyway you want as in a regular guitar. You need to get use the tuning system. If the slot is not placed properly you might not have enough space to change the tuning later on.

Is there any way to change the action (string height) of the Hush-X?
@MarcoPinoGuitar
@MarcoPinoGuitar 3 месяца назад
Yes, you can easily adjust it with the truss rode and also for each individual string by adjusting the action-adjustment screws at the bridge.

Hi.Thanks for a very enlightening review. It stands out, especially for dealing with the ergonomics of the guitars. Since you also have a Stratocaster, maybe I could trouble you to give me some advice? I went a bit overboard and bought a Fender Player Stratocaster HSH PF TBS for my 8-year-old son. He's been playing acoustic guitar for a year, and I wanted to inspire him by introducing him to the electric side as well. I chose that model because of its versatility with the double humbucking pickups, "Modern C"-shaped neck profile, 9.5"-radius fingerboard (?), etc, so that he wouldn't be limited in the future... I'm not a practicing guitarist myself, but maybe you understand the similarities/differences in the setup compared to the Hush-X? Well, that kind of backfired, because the Fender is a full-size guitar and weighs in at 3,5 kg. It was of course a bit big and cumbersome for him to handle and not really inspiring at all. The body is a bit too high for him and keeps falling forward when he's sitting down. The strap doesn't really help either, unfortunately. 1. Do you believe that we would gain anything by selling the Fender and purchasing the Hush-X? 2. If you think maybe the balance would be a problem, do you believe it's possible to move the front strap to the small free area of the wooden frame on top of the guitar. Or maybe put some kind of clamp on the metal frame? Would the metal frame hold the weight of the guitar? It doesn't seem to be really locked into the body at the front, where you would like to put the front strap. I studied your sofa comparison and realized that the frame is a lot smaller on the Hush-X. Even though the Hush-X seems to be positioned a bit higher over the lap, compared to the Fender. ? I find that the Fender is well balanced, and doesn't fall over forward, if you are an adult that is. The front strap is positioned centered on the body depth-wise and above the center point height-wise. The back strap seems to be positioned more or less center, center. The balance problem with the Hush-X seems to be that the back strap is positioned below the gravitational point, even though it's center depth-wise. With the front strap positioned on the back, the guitar has no choice but to fall forward. Sorry for rambling.

You bought your 8-year-old son a Strat! That’s awesome! I wouldn’t sell it. Your son will grow soon enough, and there are actually plenty of kids playing these guitars. I don’t know anything about guitar specs but I don’t think you can compare a Fender with a Hush X. Also, maybe your son just doesn't know what he has in his hands. If he would I’m sure he wouldn’t care if it is too big or not ;) I would suggest you show him videos of kids playing electric guitar on Tik Tok, Instagram or RU-vid shorts. Those kids are freaking awesome. I’m sure that will get him inspired. Also, you can show him some of Fender’s Fender Signature Sessions videos on RU-vid. Now, to answer your questions: 1. No. I got the Hush X only because I live a nomadic lifestyle. If I had a permanent residence and the budget I would get a Fender or another brand guitar. 2. You mean at the base of the guitar? sort of moving up the strap pin that is at the bottom close to the output jack? I think that could solve the problem of the guitar tilting forward, but not of the neck falling towards the floor. I see no issue with the strap button that is behind the guitar, just behind the end of the fretboard 3. No. The manual also suggests not to carry the guitar from the metal frames. They work great to give support for playing, but they are not meant for carrying the guitar 4. Yes, the frame of the Hush X is definitely smaller than the Strat (that’s not a Fender though, it’s a cheap Squire). I had another video with the Hush X on top of it but unfortunately didn’t have space to include it. Make sure you check the summary of dimensions and weight at the end of the video.

Thanks for your reply. Well, it's a Mexico-made B-stock, so there are more expensive versions out there for sure, but I realize that's a bit much anyway. To me, it feels perfect. :-)) But I believe he'd be happier with the smaller crazy-looking Hush-x for now. Maybe the family will rest easier, not risking being accidentally hit in the face with the shorter neck of the Hush-X. One fear is that he and his brother will assemble, and disassemble it to pieces. :-)

Fender makes a 3/4 size mini Squier Stratocaster. Even that fretboard would be something an 8YO would grow into. Would consider some thinner 8-38's allowing better playability for someone that age.

The wooden body is more suitable for left-handed players, right-handed players might feel comfortable with the body upside down and upside down, as well as the location of the end pins for the strap, the ergonomic design is wrong with this Hush type

Yes, it’s a problem, but based on my research that’s the same problem with pretty much all travel guitars in this style. When I’m practicing at home on a chair I use the strap and the stand bars at the same time to try to feel as comfortable as I can.

Thanks for the video. That’s a deal breaker for the electric So you are stuck on a single Tuning. I like to have a tuning range from e standard to C Drop So it’s the acoustic version I’ll get then.
@MarcoPinoGuitar
@MarcoPinoGuitar 2 месяца назад
I was able to fix the tuning issue after changing the string. So no problem to use other tunings now. But not sure how that would affect the action of the strings. There is no way to change the height od the entire bridge as in a regular electric.

@MarcoPinoGuitar
@MarcoPinoGuitar 3 месяца назад
I’m not sure what you mean. The Hush X works like any standard electric guitar, but it’s more silent when unplugged than a regular electric guitar because the small body. The hush I has a pickup under the bridge which gives it an acoustic sound and the factory strings are acoustic metal strings.
