And this is just her clear and beautiful voice, back in the the 70"s they didn't have all that stuff they have now, that make a singer sound good enough. R.I.P
It took the passing of Susan Jacks to make me finally realize, over 50 years later, how amazing the drummer from the Poppy Family really was...RIP Susan, thank you for this cherished part of my childhood, listening to this song on WFIL and WIBG AM radio in second grade in Philadelphia PA.
I knew a girl called Billie. We were army brats and shared the fourth grade for three months. Liked her. First girl friend, nope. Just the first one that I wanted to be around. She was smart, collected stamps, and comics! Besides she could field AND hit.🙂 Still think about what might have been had we grown up together. I moved 41 times in 18 years. Attended 19 schools grades 1-12. Think way too much about how our lives might/should have been. 🤔 And Billie.
One didn't pay much attention to last names at the age of ten. So, she's impossible to locate. I hope she has a great life.💟 Oh, with the government schools it wasn't too bad moving that often but the civilian ones...
Weird how I've been listening to the Poppy Family recently and now Sue Jacks is gone. Her voice was so crystalline, like the best female voices. Her voice definitely evoked so many things listening to her. So sad she has passed.
RIP Susan.. this sounds like the original recording did.. so crystal clear and her voice sounds so young.. what a gorgeous voice.. those producers in Nashville must have been nuts.. and deaf and blind not to make her a country star guess she didn't have enough of twang in her voice !
She had the chops and a quaver to make your liver quiver!😂 Would've been a fine Country and Western Singer as she had enough menace and pleading and seduction in Her unique voice to hang with The Nashville greats. Rest In Power Miss Susan.🤔😊🎤💃🎼🎵🎸🎻🎹🥁🇨🇦📻B.W.
By the by in The Seventies Miss Diana Trask from Australia made a name for Herself on The Country and Western Charts as did especially Miss Anne Murray from Canada well into the latter Eighties.🤔😉🎤💃🎼🎵🎸🎻🎹🥁🇨🇦📻B.W.
Hard to believe this group suffered in its ability to record because of Terry's aversion to touring. Otherwise this group would have had greater durability.
A lot of forsaken people went to nam because they believed in America. And welcome home. I still believe in you!Hang on!We still need you. We have to fight the hippies who are in control right now!
Then why couldn't more of them wait?Never been but I am pretty sure a dear John letter wasn't the best incentive to make it home. Maybe a text would be better. You can get one of them on the way home from grocery store.
Let's not forget the people who may be getting ready to go again. If the morons keep it up. I might only be a few miles away, hiding in the woods. Might not be able to make it home very often. Lots of work to be done .probably easy, how hard can it be to catch a chicken running around without a head.
If Billy went to nam he was unlikely to come back to a woman who would sing this song. As much as I love her music. Well?she loved him so much? She should have been a WAC.
