As I've previously made what wow expansion had the worst lore, this time I decided to focus on the positive side and examine the lore and the storylines of all the expansions from WoW Classic up to WoW Shadowlands.
When did WoW lore really peak and what was the best period for the story? I cover the release of the Burning Crusade and the unfortunate retconned lore, to the Wrath of the Lich King, in my opinion, the pinnacle of Warcraft, going all the way to Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Legion and ultimately World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.

Wrath of the Lich King and Mists of Pandaria are my two most favorite expansions for a reason - their lore was so juicy and so good. And they weren't at a point where it felt like they were going too far like/ not enough like they did in Legion. Both didn't feel rushed and both took their sweet time to tell the story they needed to.

Wrath and Legion for me. But Classic and TBC laid out some great side stories and factions like Scarlet Crusade and the Defias Brtoherhood. Not to mention Scholomance and Dire Maul!

I think after finally playing through most of all the expansions. Even there was a long time I didn't get to play The 2 expansions I enjoyed the most is Mists of Pandaria and Legion.

Same, it really was an amazing expansion. Class order halls were awesome! I only raided seriously until the release of ToS but i have so many fond memories of raiding Emerald Nightmare and Nighthold. Nighthold is in my opinion one of the best raids in the game, it felt very diverse encounterwise and star augur etraeus is easily in my top 5 boss list.

I totally agree with this video. I think the only way that they could reset the balance at this point would be with some sort of time jump and a wow 2 or something similar. I don't really understand how blizz said that they have the next 6 expansions planned out when we are already almost godlike... I still love it though haha

i think its a matter of taste altough i think im part of the minority on this one, but i really do like being the powerhouse guy, and in constract i really do NOT enjoy being just a soldier, i believe most people like the idea of being like everyone else, not special but also proving superiority over everyone else by just proving your skill, but im not a fan of that, i really enjoy true superiority instead of an skill oriented one

A young prince who is empowered by necromancy A dragon aspect who is empowered by an old gods A Titanic forge who is empowered by Titan essence Not too powerful yet not so weak either. Definitely a good expansion lore wise.

I actually liked the lore in warlords. It just fell off later in the expansion. But before that, I was really into what was going on and what dreanor was like before the demon influence.

That was the biggest issue with me. I was really enjoying the new fresh lore content in MoP and they started out really well in WoD but it felt like at least half of what should have been in game was left out.

Wrath and Cata. Wrath had the best overall story, and Cata had many smaller vignettes while leveling that I love to this day.

Personally I'm not a huge lore nerd, I just go to the raid, kill the bosses, take their loot & get out. How ever my top 3 would be Wrath, Mists & Legion, they have good stories, and it was actually interesting to see them.

I really feel like BC was better than wotlk overall. Yes Arthas was by far the best villain but I really liked some of the little things, like gruuls lair, the blooded and draeni storylines were awesome! Illidan was an absolute badass and things still felt small. And world pvp felt pushed by quests/achievements and an overall pride in factions.

Mists of Pandaria is the best expansion. It is the ONLY expansion that simultaneously de-escalated the stupid mistake of Lich King which really began the "generic super evil bad guy that obviously has to lose" which both detracts from the core theme of WoW: Horde vs Alliance, and was also an interesting expansion unlike Dragonflight. Mists of Pandaria was WoW's last chance to turn away from Dragon Ball Z story escalation.

Legion was my favourite expansion in terms of lore and content. It had its problems but there was always something new to do. WotLK would be a close second. The lore was amazing, placing it second though because the content wasn’t as impressive and there wasn’t a lot of innovation imo

100% disagree with you. From Legion onward, it showed how small we really are in regards to the Warcraft universe, and how we had to borrow power to even be considered an annoyance to the power of the Titans and the Old Gods for example.

I miss BC/Wrath power levels. It felt like we began as a peon. were a grunt around level 20-40. an elite from 40 -60 and a hero leveling in Outland/northrend. we never felt like we were stronger or more relevent then a general let alone how in WoD/Legion we became basicaly a faction leader

my personal favorites are legion and wrath, but i have mixed feelings about what you said about legion, i agree with that it could've been two expansions, however, i disagree with it being rushed, blizzard gave up on draenor to work on legion, legion zones had great stories and lore, aszuna back at it again with the blue dragonflight (a reference to famous online meme Damn Daniel), val'sharah with the corruption of emerald dream and us finally getting to see it, highmountain with ebonhorn and old god threat (the latter being during the allied race questline), stormheim with just, odyn and his stuff, and sylvanas being cookoo bananas there, suramar however was designed with a story in mind, and broken shore wasn't that great at all, and argus was kinda the same as broken shore, except for mac'aree, which had more than just demons, but overall, i agree with what you said, wrath and legion were amazing

Great video, except WoW wasn't even remotely the game that molded the genre. Everquest/Ultima Online did that. The main 3 creators of WoW were world first EQ raiders.

The lich king felt menecing because we were weaker at the time,just to visiualise Wrath-a group of despret sokdiers trying to survive the pkwerful king of death who would stop at nothing from defeating us and making our existence a hellscape worse than death,effectivly dooming azeroth Battle for azeroth-we are empowered by legendary gear ones only can dream of,by the power of azeroth itself and we take advantage of every singe inch of strenght existent even going as far as draining power from N'zoth just to...secure azerite for the faction because....it is really strong and...we mhst have it...though we LITERALY DEFEATED ALONE SPACE SATAN WHEN WE BANNED OUR FORCES

Hmmm I’d say cata’s lore wasn’t the best. Also, pandarias weird bc the stories themselves and how it tied into everything was really cool but it goes without saying it wasn’t what everyone was “wanting”

I joined WoW during Wotlk and man ... that expansion was addictive. It was so damn fun. I kinda of want to try Burning Crusade when the servers get released because the players back then always harp on about how good that expansion was. At this point the gameplay and lore and so effed up in WoW I feel like it could use a soft reboot.

Personally I'd say Pandaria has the best lore, you have these quests were you're dealing with the Sha and basically hatred itself and then you have quests of saving small towns from monkeys, it's a good contrast or I'd say it is.

Best Lore: Legion Expansions Ranked: TBC > WotLK >= Cata = WoD > Legion >= BFA > MoP >>>>> Classic/Vanilla(technically not an expansion).

MoP has had the best original in game lore that has not had to rely on the past games. Legion felt rushed with killing the legion so soon. BfA felt like it was tying up some loose ends to get some characters out of the picture without the players asking about them too much. Cata was cool in that it finally unlocked all those zones on the map that you were only able to explore through bugs. Wrath was good for the simple fact that it allowed us to finally close up our journey with Arthas since the beginning. The entire expansion was centered around Arthas even though it has some minor story lines that were good too. WoD was a joke because they removed a lot of the lore that was originally intended for it. Classic had too many minor story lines and nothing major end game to aspire to. BC was my favorite expansion to play but lore wise it was a mess almost as bad as WoD because nothing made sense or was explained. I would say that after reading some of the books it felt a little better but you should not have to rely on outside material. I doubt I will care much about the lore in shadowlands unless they go a similar route like MoP but with mists it had lasting affects because we got a new class out of it that still ties us into its lore.

Come on dude. Lore-wise we jumped the shark in CLASSIC. Gates are opening currently so that our humble adventurers can defeat some 35,000 year old mountain sized alien god of darkness and his bug monster minions. >.> Personally, I love the lore, but let's not pretend that warcraft EVER in it's entire history was just a medieval fantasy game. Right from the getgo there was an alien invasion. Orcs are from another planet, ergo, aliens.

I think SL is perfect way to make out charakters much more weak. I mean they are filled with Titanpower and all this but there is still a big hole in the sky. (forget about the big sword noone rly cares it seems) I mean there can't be always a path between live and death. Our charakter could give up his SuperSaiyajin Power to close the hole in the end of the expansion so he is nearly like before Legion. Not just a grunt but still no Burnig Legion or Old God slayer. Then blizzard can make expansions again that are not filled with overpowered shit.

WOTLK was Blizzard greatest creation and after that they never created nothing that can be comparable. Every boss is dull and has no interesting background, we got new boring races ( pointless) , new horrible zones that looks ok but not like WoW, Kung Fu Pandas 🤮🤮🤮🤮 , going back in time 😩😩😩 , Space ships 🤮 or Fat Humans

Lich King is actual trash. It began the downfall of WoW by introducing LFD, catch up gear and Dragon Ball Z power escalation. Lich King was the MMO made for people who hate MMOs and is the seed that grew into retail today.

7:06 min.: Try to see it without your nostaligic Glasses. Where was WotLK good? Only maybe the lore. I have tested the Game Play in WotLK Classic and i hate EVERYTHING of it. They fully missing the good points what makes WoW to that what its are and make it soooo great and worth to play. Like M+. Where is the Endgame without this? The lvling s*cks and its also to slow. Lvling has to be fast done. Then the talent trees dont make realy something and feels weak. And the specs? Where are they? This Feature at this WoW is based full is missing. Class Teachers make no sense. Why have i to pay for learning stuff? Play i a pay to win game? No i play wow what isnt pay to win if you not ne fully stup!d and let your self get boosted like a m*ron. If you boost your self you are stup!d because you play outhers that they play the game for you. In my eyes realy dump.
