That is a pretty common pattern in this kind of regime (similar in china as well). The central government grants the right to petition to normal citizens and even acts on them once in a while, as a way of offloading responsibility of bad stuff happening to the local authorities. I guess it also kind of works in democracies or companies as well: the big guys try to be the benefactors that just don't know the suffering of the normal people, and middle management gets fucked by having to implement some insane plans they don't agree with while also getting blamed for them.

They are saving Russian lives for 2 reasons. 1st, the soldiers who capture the POWs are human and don’t kill others for sport. 2nd, they don’t kill the POWs because they hope to exchange them for Ukrainian soldiers. The POWs are given medical care if needed. They are fed, and given cigarettes, and clean clothes. They have beds to sleep on. It’s not fancy but not filthy. If they agree to an interview with Volo or Dima they are offered the chance to call their family. The Russians do none of these things. Some of the returned POWs do interviews with Russian propagandists. They complain of ill-treatment, starvation, beatings, and other POWs dying for various reasons. Nothing that comes out of Russia can be believed. It’s all lies, hate and vile propaganda.

I'm an American as well and ur bang on the money unfortunately. When the war first broke out me and my father were watching everything we could. It's was one of the rare times IV seen my father cry I was already tearing up. I spend way to much time watching them suffering and I'll be honest lately it's made me depressed but there are lots of times I see the bravery of UKRAINIANS and I snap out of it. I was pretty down the other day but found a video of them saving a billy goat from close to the front I went from crying to laughing so hard I was crying. I understand Americans are struggling and things are tough right now and all they hear are these aid packages and think why can't that money go to helping Americans. And I tell them watch a cpl videos of these guys and then tell me if u feel the same I haven't had a person yet. I tell em them imagine if that was you what would u do what would u want. These guys are fighting so our soilders don't so we don't have to join and fight. Unfortunately it easier for alot of Americans to just check out and comment on things they don't really know about alot talk about money and hardahips. I tell them hardships u have a warm comfortable house now imagine if that was blown up and taken from you. I do believe their is alot more Americans that support Ukraine which is good and nice to see. I can't imagine the stress zelensky must be under.. I do see more Americans saying let's givem everything they need. I'm not crazy about Biden but I'm glad he's choose to help them and continues to. I really hope whoever wins when election time comes that they continue to support and fully help Ukraine, hopefully it's over soon and Ukraine wins I truly believe they will if we continue to support them. I really hope we support them after with rebuilding efforts. I think Ukraine will have an incredible terrorism.

I don't know when this interview was made, but if it is an old interview, he may have already been returned to Russia by now...and if he was subsequently sent back to Ukraine a 2nd time, his current fate/whereabouts, may be uncertain, unless he got captured a 2nd time.

The war can be "worked out" very easily. The invaders stop murdering, looting, raping, etc. and go back to their lands. They leave the Donbas and Crimea. They leave Ukrainian territory, once and for all, and get it through their thick skulls that they can't invade sovereign nations and attempt to take their land.

I enjoy the invadors losses. I cry for the defenders heroically casualties.

The Russians must leave all areas of Ukraine, including Crimea. Then they can negotiate regarding war criminals and reparations. Prayers are not required.

@@hedda2022 - Thanks but that wasn't the case while the video was live or shortly after. Perhaps the uploader made the adjustment necessary to enable the long press etc. Being deaf, I am well familiar with the intricacies of subtitles or RU-vid and other platforms for almost 15 years.

@@Odessite Aah, ok. Sorry, I hope I didn't come across as patronising 🙈😥 I've found the same thing with several channels - the subtitles take a while to appear. I'm not sure if they are something that the channel itself has to "switch on" or whether RU-vid just has a delay. I also prefer to watch with subtitles because the voices used for dubbing are sometimes irritating (fake American accent, and I'm not American 😄) If it happens again try the Polish or German channels (Wladimir Zolkin or Wladimir Solkin) - they're sometimes better.
