There's a pretty good chance that Lucy is visiting Peter's family just a few houses away from where Kevin McCallister is setting booby traps for 2 burglars. Both movies take place in the early 90's and in Chicago lol! Not to mention, the neighborhoods are completely identical.
The funniest thing about this is that one of my favorite Christmas movies is the ref with Dennis Leary and the grandma in this one who's so sweet and wonderful plays the grandma in "The Ref" and she's such a freaking bitch lol
