Thank you for sharing this Calvin! This is my new favourite of all your tutorials. I love the end result so much 😍 and the advice you give at the end too!
Thank you so much 🥰 Have you seen the rabbit character tutorial yet? It's the same process but applied to a rabbit character instead: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DcQj2hdxsG4.html
This is a gorgeous illustration, Calvin, thank you so much! Great tips at the end too. Will be trying my own badger this evening :) I’d love more autumnal illustration tutorials if you want to do them.
This is fantastic! (also reminded me of the fantastic mr fox illustrations) love the textures you added, I had never used the "Freycinet" brush. There are so many hidden beauties, thank you for helping me discover those. loved the tips and encouragement and your final tip is so true! Thank you for always inspiring and really pushing the boundaries we limit ourselves with! Thank you so much!
I would love a tutorial on how to achieve this art style. I draw realism and I try so hard to make children’s book type of art and I just cant get the bodies right 😅
What I can tell you is shape, shape shapes! As a realism artist you draw tons on different shapes! With cartooning and kids illustration you have to keep it to the bare minimum shape languages. Softer shapes like circles and ovals are friendly while sharper ones like triangles and diamonds can be scary! Watch tutorials on shape language and start learning on how to simply your figures and you’ll be great!
Such an awesome tutorial Calvin! Thank you so much for sharing! I never use the selection tool for shading or texturing but i think i LL try it out! It looks much more efficient than what I am doing! This technique is 5 times faster! Love the end result! 😄👍
An amazing tutorial as usual Calvin! Could we please get a tutorial on how you create your sketches? Or some tips and tricks on how to make a good sketch pleeease!!
Thank you so much 🥰 I'm planning another video about sketching for next week, but I have two sketch related videos published previously that might help 😁: Drawing and painting people in a childrens book style: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pweOdbfuQJc.html Painting a parakeet: skip towards the end where I demonstrate the sketching workflow: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m2nCrTLSN-M.html
hello and thank you for your great instructions. unfortunately i don't understand one step: at 1:50 your brush should be - like mine, unfortunately.... paint turquoise and not work like an eraser!? unfortunately I'm stuck at this step. What am I doing wrong here? Thank you very much for your answer!
please help me I have purchased papers and watercolor brushes, but when using them without layers, after drawing many steps, when drawing a line, it appears that it is repeated on the opposite side and I did not activate the drawing guide
HI! thank you so much 🥰 this error is because you have some setting switched on in procreate called gesture controls - you can disable the option on the apple pencil settings catagory where is says everything you draw with the pencil will be 'assisted'. Can you message me on Etsy? I can show you a screenshot of what I mean 😁
Hi! I have a laser printer, so I can print on any type of paper and it looks the same. The ink is like a thin layer of plastic. Most of the time I'm just printing on cheap cardstock that has a very slightly warm tone to it. It's very cheap and for crafting, not for printing, but it still works well.
This is an iPad. They sell a lot of different models of iPads right now, but all of the new ones will work fine for this. You will also need an Apple Pencil. This is the white pencil I'm using to draw. It's important that the Apple Pencil is a genuine Apple Pencil and not a generic one. Usually the generic pencils do not function properly. If you aren't sure what model of iPad to buy, you can go to a store that sells apple products and ask for "iPad Air 5th Generation AND an Apple Pencil Second Generation". After you have the iPad, you can download a drawing application called Procreate, which is what I'm using 😁
