Whirlpool LA9100XT Automatic Washer - Full Cycle

This is a full-cycle (heavy wash) run of my Whirlpool LA9100XT washer. It also has a "Super Wash" which drains the tub halfway and refills it. This adds an additional 4 minutes to the cycle. The video is slightly messed up because I've had to use my old computer which is why it appears to jump or skip in places. The washer doesn't actually do that. Video has been edited to fit within the 10 minute limit.
Just a note - the clothes in the washer were washed TWICE in the Calypso prior to being washed in this washer.

Plus, I leave my washers open when not being used, so they 'air out' between washes. Most of the other ones I've picked up for scrap have been so nasty that I'm amazed people would let them get that bad, let alone wash clothes in them. My parent's old Maytag is in BAD shape (chipped porcelain, rusted cabinet, timer doesn't work), but it is CLEAN inside.

DD stands for Direct drive it is what washers made by Whirlpool Kenmore and the other brands owned by Whirlpool were called, however before 1986 they were called Belt Drives because the machines were driven by belts.

With this one, the lady that owned it came out of the house when I was picking it up and told me that it worked fine, but it would smell funny inside if it sat for a few days... I guess some people would rather throw away $500 on a new washer than CLEAN their old one :P It was in great shape outside, just had gunk built up in the outer tub (probably from small loads and hard water) - a few full cycles with only hot water bleach and some degreaser took care of that.

it was just water. I usually do that if i'm near the washer after it dispenses the softener so that the dispenser doesn't get gunky.

@Trinacria1973 Actually no, and in the US and Canada, most washing machines are also completely different, but this is still intersting... They don't ALL (I don't think in Europe either, as I was somewhat appalced at some wahing machines there that DIDN'T have a separate knob for water temparature) have an LCD display... but the usually have 20 different washig programs, abot 4 of which are used...

yeah i see what you mean about the calypso. that water coming out of here is brown. and that's after 2 WASHES. no wonder they tossed the other washer out.

@general0ne Indeed! (It does seems that way.) I have NEVER had this particular problem (but it seems like a lot of people do), but really, all one needs to do is CLEAN the machine once in a while. After all, one cleans a BATHTUB; a washimg machine needs to be cleaned once in a while, too...

USA has been very reluctant to change when it comes to washers. We really don't like front loading washers cause you have to bend down all the time and the new washers with their cheap parts and fancy electronics have proven to be maintenance nightmares. However the washer seen here is from the early 1980s or late 1970s. He found it in a trash stockpile All machines in USA are not like this and we've had the fancy ones you have for 15 years now.

When this video was posted, RU-vid had a 10 minute limit, so the video needed to be cut down. The skips and jumps were glitches in the editing software.

yeah - then it all gets rinsed out in the second rinse... i think all the top load washers like this have a similar style softener dispenser though. my Maytag is the same way.

@SpazChat No, I mean, why even make a video of a washing machine washing a load of clothes?? There were no questions posed from the poster like "is this normal", or "is it doing the right thing"... it's just a video of him washing the laundry. Was there a problem? Will this change my life? Is it good for a laugh? Sadly, no. I dont' know what I was expecting, but I feel that 8 minutes of my life are wasted. WHY is the point of this video?
