Ralfy great stuff. I have been studying for several tests this week and rewarding myself with watching and learning from your videos every couple hours. I have always wanted to try scotch...I worked at a bar during college, and had a run in with a pretty terrible scotch. However, I want to persist and get a relatively good scotch and have another go. Any suggestions? Keep up the videos they are great.
Ralfy, Im curious as to how these independent bottlers prepare this whisky. Do they age it themselves? Or do they buy barrels strait from the distillery such as highland Park, bottle it, then sell it?

Hey Ralfy, I've googled my heart out trying to find information on a Highland Park independent bottling but can't find much on a 1992 Duncan Taylor Prime Malt Selection No. 2 (40%). Does any of that sound at all familiar? 1992 was supposedly a rare vintage of Highland Park but the bottle was under $40. I don't know if I've snagged a bargain, come out even or paid too much. Ralfy, you mentioned that the Caol Ila is a third fill meaning the barrel was used a third time, correct? All the whiskey books I've read state that only first and second fills are bottled so how often are third fills bottled?

Do distillery produce a different bottle for the duty free market? Are they done by independent bottlers? Thanks again maltmate!
Great vid as usual. I think I know how this works now. the distillers that bottle whisky mix the casks to get a balance. Independent bottlers dont have alot of casks to mix. thats why they sometimes produce great stuff and sometimes not so great. Is that correct?
