LoL.. leave the doors open, the bin will take more 😁 Don't ask me how I know! Get it done while you can Chris!! Thanks for the video!
@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris 4 года назад
Dad did that on one of the other bins. He saw some corn drizzling out of the outer door and figured he had left the sample door open. Fortunately I was running the combine in the field at home and drove up to dump since dad hadn't brought anything back. There he was holding that outer door closed the best he could , because the inners were still open. He couldn't even grab his 2 way radio to call for help. We put a loader against the door, then bolted steel bars across the door to secure it.
@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin
@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin 4 года назад
@@ThatOliverGuyChris hmm... Blame it on dad...lol.. Dad left them open on our Stormore bin.. the door is in the second ring (hate it!!!) He had left everything open, but the wind blew the outer shut. I don't remember who was unloading trucks, but I got there just in time for the mess!! First 15 tons makes the pile, each ring is about 25 tons... I think the semi was first, so as soon as the 4 axle started unloading, it was out the door.. wasted day, shoveled it out because we couldn't get the grain vac in with the augers and cleaner in the way..

Glad to see your getting some corn done. I had to make 2 four hour round trips last week to Willmar, MN to get the roller mill and Ag bagger so that we can do some high moisture corn. We've never done this before so it will be interesting to see it all working when we get it going. You'll have to keep an eye out for Paul's video when we do this probably later on in the week.

@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris 4 года назад
Lol! I thought about that as I was editing, I was giving them some free advertising! Maybe the chips will start rolling in! I haven't heard anything local about shortages, but it seems to be the hub bub on the internet out your way. I just saw a post where a guy hauled corn into the elevator in Minnesota, and they will be shut down tomorrow due to a natural gas shortage. I called my LP supplier the morning after I filmed this, told them I wasn't in a hurry since I was switching back to beans, and they were filling me up by lunch time.
@burningdinosaurs
@burningdinosaurs 4 года назад
@@ThatOliverGuyChris Ha! I seen that post too lol! Good deal you got filled up in case the shortage is actually for real. I believe the verdict is still out on that right now. I haven't heard anything right around me, but have only about 1hr north of me. So, who knows 🤷‍♂️
@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris 4 года назад
Problem is, my 3 tanks will last that dryer about 2 days, and that's with it shut down at night. There was a natural gas 'shortage' here early this year. A pump blew up south of Detroit, and since we're a peninsula, we couldn't just divert from somewhere else. Consumers Energy was on TV constantly asking people to turn their thermostats down. Ford shut down for a couple days, so did some other big companies. It wasn't really a shortage, they just couldn't pump enough to meet demand with the cold snap that was going on at the same time that the pump station went down.
@burningdinosaurs
@burningdinosaurs 4 года назад
@@ThatOliverGuyChris Neighbor has two 1000gal tanks for their dryer and they'll fill them sometimes more than once per day when it's wet. It's amazing how fast it can go! That's quite the deal about the natural gas! Sounds like a bad deal!

So if u put corn in a lays bag do Fritos come out??? How’s that drago do as far as butt shelling? Drago is pretty popular around here.
@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris 4 года назад
It's actually like spreading salt on wet hay. The salt from the chips keeps the corn from rotting. I've got a semi load of them coming in next week!!! I've seen some grumbling about the Drago butt shelling, but I haven't noticed it. I also heard complaints about the gear boxes being leaky, but so far they aren't leaking a drop. On my variable ground, those self adjusting deck plates are amazing.

Nice shots on the corn head. I also like the double shots of the 2050 and the dryer control box. So how long did you have to run it for to get the corn dried? Do you use that aux. fuel tank to feed the tractor while it is running?
@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris 4 года назад
I ran it for about an hour before I started unloading. That turned out to be a little longer than I needed, the moisture dropped to 12% before I got things dialed in. That's not all bad, I like the stuff on the floor to be drier so if there is condensation on humid days in the spring it doesn't get moldy. Yes, the big tank feeds the tractor. It has a non-vented fuel cap with a copper tube soldered in the center for the fuel line to connect to. Take the regular cap off, put that one in its place and turn the tank on.
