There is treatment in Ayurveda for RP. There is an expert eye doctor at district government Ayurveda hospital at Asraamam, kollam( district) Kerala ( state) who treats RP very effectively. As it is run by government we get some medicines free & others we have to pay. Compared to private hospital treatment is not expensive. The hospital is 2 k. m away from kollam railway station.

Bling By the age of 40 is such a false statement. There are people with RP Losing their sight in early adulthood and others that lose it after their 60s. Please be carefull when stating such things

Being blind at age of 40 depends. There are times that your RP genes is not really strong or weak, so there is a possibility you won't be blind at the age of 40, except if you're expose in technologies that can also destroy your eyesight, you'll be blind younger. But if you really inherit the RP, it's really hard, specially during night, even if your inherited genes are weak.

Treatment for RP available in Sreedhareeyam koothattukulam kerala. Not able to cure 100% but there can stable the vision without loss of power decreasing.

With modern science, nothing is impossible, I believe that by the grace of Allah, this disease will be cured inshallah,, I am 22 years old,, I see 6/9 with glasses,, If stem cell therapy is taken in India, there will be a light of hope for RP patients, but the cost of treatment is very high.

My mom has this and she's 44. Seeing this makes me really sad because she most likely has 2-3 more years to keep her sight and being unable to travel to USA at the moment is breaking my heart knowing there is something to be done but can't be.

Hi Kiwi 2104. my mom also has RP. It's really sad to watch her vision worsen, and it's upsetting that there's no treatments yet. It's heartbreaking when I stand in front of her and she doesn't see me, when I show her my paintings and she barely sees them, and it's heartbreaking to know that one day when I start a family she might never actually see them. Still, it comforts me that I know that I am not the only one. I hope that you are comforted by this too. Do you have any advice?

I love this research but Dr. Klassen concerns me sometimes. I saw a video on youtube a few years back where he said that the technology he was working on would restore central vision but that other symptoms could simply be treated with a torch. This really upset me because losing your peripheral vision is extremely debilitating and cannot be treated with a torch. Obviously, central vision is vitally important and saving or bringing it back is huge. However, I was quite disturbed by his dismissive attitude towards other impairments simply because his work wasn't treating them

I don't think disease is a very pleasant word to use, I'd usually just say eye condition but some people may use the term eye disease

I don't think Retinitis Pigmentosa is very deserving of a pleasant name. I'm eventually going to be legally blind just like my father, and his father before him.
