I play lead guitar at my church also, the congregation was older and didn't quite know how to deal with contemporary Christian music when I started. the pastor said don't worry about it God gave you a gift let it flow. you my brother have a gift

Come on..... What’s “worldly” about anything in this video? The man got his gifts/abilities from God. And there he is right in God’s house praising him with his gift. So what’s the problem? So because he’s in church, he’s not supposed to play to the best of his ability? He’s not supposed to bring his BEST to the Lord? You MUST be one of those ate up old prunes that also believe women’s dresses should drag the ground, they can’t wear makeup and can’t be preachers/ministers....
@@Rio522Basstheir dresses certainly should not be coming up the way they are. Sounds lime the serpent is still talking from the garden. The dresses today are not modest in many many cases and of course un repentant, un born again , carnal flesh which is enmity with God ( Romans 8) love that. And make up did not come from heaven. When you and look into Proverbs he talks about the strange woman. Her lips drop like a honeycomb. He talked about how smooth they were. That is lipstick he is talking about. She made herself up to entice men. So now Hollywood has influence the American way of thinking for the last 100 years. Those who do not know the bible nor history comment and simply do not know what they are talking about. Make up becomes a god. The woman cant leave home withojt it. And the honest who are honest have said over and over I feel ugly without it. And thats how you know they are not walking with Jesus. He completes us. He doesnt complete men. He completed women too. They are insecure and that comes from disobedience to God. Just like it happened to Adam and Eve as soon as they ate from that tree. And if women are so beautiful why would they need make up? So do we as men look better because we dont need it. But the industry did not target us. It targeted them. If we are truly saved we have no business being conformed or should I say pressured by this world system to think like they do. They have to have it because they dont know God, do not have his Spirit, and certainly are not complete in him. All they can hear is satan telling them how ugly they are even when we see them as beautiful. Other than that yes we should play skillfully on the instruments. Needless to say he is playing straight up rock tho. Even those riffs are very scale based as you hear in Rock music
I love to hear guitars and pianos, organs and horns in church. I play the drums for my church but I would definitely feel out of place if I started doing a solo in church. I must admit that it sounded great but I'm still on the fence about it. I feel like I'm praising Jesus by playing my drums the best that I can and I hope this guy is doing it for the same reason and if he is then all I can say is make it talk buddy.
Keep strong. Dont forget God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law and deserve Hell (like the punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His law is eternal too). Mercy said "I want to give them another chance and I don't want them to be cut off from Me, I want them to come home and live in My love". And love said "Jesus came down as a man, suffering every temptation we have ever faced, yet without sin. He took all our sins past/present/future to the cross and crucified EVERY ONE". He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. So long as we keep our hearts near to Him through His strength, strive to obey His will of perfect love as found in His Word THROUGH Christ's power (not ourselves as that's impossible), and we never give up, we will win the victory through Christ.
Thanks so much Brian! That really means a lot. In the video, I'm using the Line 6 POD xt Live. I also have the newer version HD 500. They're both great. Although, I don't use the pre-programmed sounds. I always customize it. But I keep the sounds pretty simple. For that sound, it's just compression, distortion, and a little reverb and delay. It's plugged into a Fender Twin Reverb. So I don't use any of the amp modeling.
I think they used White boy as a term if endearment. This White guy used to play guitar in a gospel group at churches, picnics and festivals. Sometimes people eould ask, "Who's the White boy?" They weren't being rude at all, but yeah, using ones name is always better. Anyway, he was ripping it up!
When I was in high school. My friend, introduced me, to the music of Jimi Hendrix. Band of Gypsies, was the album. Who knows and machine gun were the songs. That we mostly jammed to. I played drums in the school band. So I had my kit. We smoked and played with the music. My Buddy found Jesus. And ultimately invited me to this Pentecostal church. I'm Baptist. The whole scene was different. My Buddy starts strumming his guitar to a gospel song. And next thing I know. This guy starts playing. Guitar goes behind his back. Starts with the teeth playing. It's a scene. I said after they stopped him. He won't be long attending here. He wasn't. Now he is living in Spain. Some if his videos are on RU-vid. David Sooper Hooper. True story.

So is the big that he's shredding at a church? A Black church? Because a White boy shredding guitar is news. That's what white boys usually do with guitars. LOL
Lol the Christian guitarists dream. To get to shred in church... They usually get stick in a lame church that limit you to playing chords to Hillsong..Lord deliver us from evils of limitation.
