Aspie myself (history is to be learnt from, NOT shovelled under the carpet and ignored): "I like trains doc but...." "Slow burn" Holy crap man ;D Master pieces. Yet again a fascination with dinosaurs comes to the resecue :) Thanks man, I really needed that today and it also answers one question I've had for a while, how does ND humour differ from NT? The difference between countries is negligable in comparison. There's such a element of darkness in an autists humour, things that NTs wouldn't dare say,. If it's funny (AND clever...quite important seemingly), who cares?
Fellow Aspie myself. I'm not a fan of being lumped into the general spectrum either. I know it's just semantics, but the NTs seem to just have one view/stereotype when they hear "autism." [X] - Trains [X] - Dino's [ ] - Anyone else out there weirdly into birds once they hit adulthood?
@@JefCollierme and my husband both have Asperger’s and I always loved birds but he really got me interested in studying them and knowing their calls,etc.
Than you, friend. I like to think I am proof that weight doesn't determine funniness. For years I told myself I couldn't lose weight because it would hurt my career, yet in the long run, it was the single best thing I ever did for myself and work.
Words like that mean a lot, sometimes when I'm out on my long runs running down a hill I feel like a goat, a chunky wobbly one, but a goat nonetheless.
"Autistic and afraid: Just drop me on an island, I'll have it running in a few weeks" I'll probably die some day for feeling this exact sentiment, but it's exactly why I do as I do in the survival games I'm addicted to. I'm the camp mom who builds the base shelter and makes sure everyone else has anything they could possibly need. The anger that I feel, when I watch naked and afraid, and they make rookie fucking mistakes like not securing clean water, a raised sleeping area, or sometimes even a rudimentary CUTTING TOOL is so strong it should be measured in Teslas.
Enjoyed how you entertained with stand-up. Too many comedians on youtube with more crowd work than actual routine.. While it might display some quick whit (hardly, comments & comebacks end up getting recycled and reused in most typical scenarios), roasting is a fine line between fun and insulting.. As an Aspie myself, being mocked or ridiculed is something I do not enjoy, and I can easily take a comment the wrong way. Not sure if you avoid crowd work because you don't want to dish what you wouldn't enjoy receiving, but I found this bit top notch either way..
I have Asperger and I refuse to call it anything else,and the show love on the spectrum is insulting..I love trains but I’m not obsessed with them.The sound of them helps me fall asleep though.I think maybe the trains and dinosaur obsession maybe more of an Autistic male thing.My obsession’s was/are music,the sciences(social,political,etc),animals,and currently comedy and history.
Who knows, but plenty of his jokes are basically pattern detection based paired to funny cadence and timing, which is sure enough a fit for some of us as a form of communication if not descript of thought process. He used to be incredibly funny. He still is, but he used to too.
He was funny up until the childhood cancer joke. You will never know the horrors of watching helplessly while your child goes through the worst experience of their life.
