Lyrics So if you go And leave recklessly 'We' can only be me 'We' can only be me That's something I Through the turns of my life Never wanted to be Never wanted to be But if you stay Just a bolt in the bow Then you'll never know Then you'll never know How you could miss Like the daylight, the way You're missing us now You're missing us now So listen to some reason There's nothing in your dreams But if you're getting even You're getting even Trying to get even? Better start believing I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this Love and other nonsense we've made Now if we kiss Then the moon in the sky Would linger awhile Would linger awhile So as to gift Just an inch more of night But you break from my life No more kiss, no more I But listen to some reason There's nothing in your dreams! But if you're getting even You're getting even Trying to get even? Better start believing I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this Wrestling of conscience I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this Love and other nonsense It's the worst part of the best of me Best of me Love, I'm trying so hard to be free Worst got the best of me, best of me Love, I'm trying so hard to be free Lonely but free and out of love If you're getting even You're getting even [x3] Trying to get even? Better start believing I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this Wrestling of conscience I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this Love and other nonsense You're getting even [x2] And I can forgive And we can forget You're getting even You're getting even [x4]
Soy metalero pero estos muchachos hacen una buena música de hecho fueron bastante atrevidos eh innovadores, con unos musicos de primera para lograr este tipo de sonido moderno .
I find it endearing that their progressions occur so quickly. There is very little "dead space" in their tracks. Once the track begins, the vocals follow soon, along with more instrumentation. They make truly amazing and thoughtful music. Yeah, I CAN'T get these lads off my playlist. Rad!
he escuchado muchas veces esta canción (y otras de este álbum) y es primera vez que me doy cuenta que la persona de la imagen cierra los ojos cada ciertos segundos, omgggggggggggg
Even to this day, these young men blend a very exquisite malgam of modern sounds and production with an anthemic feel not unlike some music made before they were even born. Old souls making some absolutely eclectic material with pride, and seamlessly doing so. Amazing troupe!
This song always makes me tear up and is hard to listen to cause it reminds me of the time when I broke up with the love of my life and will always regret that. Biggest mistake of my life.
So if you go And leave recklessly We can only be me We can only be me That's something I Through the tons of my life Never wanted to be Never wanted to be But if you stay Just a bolt in the ball Then you'll never know Then you'll never know How you could miss Like the day light the way You're missing us now You're missing us now So listen to some reason There's nothing in your dreams But if you're getting even You're getting even Trying to get even Better start believing I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this Love and other nonsense we've made Now if we kiss Then the moon in the sky We'd linger a while We linger a while So ask to give just an inch more of night But you break from my life No more kiss, no more I But listen to some reason There's nothing in your dreams But if you're getting even You're getting even Trying to get even Better start believing I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this wrestling of conscience I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this Love and other nonsense It's the worst part of the best of me, best of me Love, I'm trying so hard to be free Worst of the best of me, best of me Love, I'm trying so hard to be free Lonely but free And out of love If you're getting even You're getting even If you're getting even You're getting even If you're getting even You're getting even Trying to get even Better start believing I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this wrestling of conscience I can forgive And we can forget Even after all this Love and other nonsense You're getting even You're getting even And I can forgive And we can forget You're getting even You're getting even And I can forgive And we can forget You're getting even You're getting even And I can forgive And we can forget You're getting even You're getting even (And I can forgive) (And we can forget) (You're getting even)
So if you go and leave recklessly We can only be mean We can only be mean That's something I, through the terms of my life Never wanted to be Never wanted to be But if you stay just a bolt in the bow Then you'll never know Then you'll never know How you could miss like the daylight the way You're missing us now You're missing us now So listen to some reason, there's nothing in your dreams But if you're getting even, you're getting even Trying to get even, better start believing I can forgive and we can forget Even after all this love and other nonsense we've made Now if we kiss then the moon in the sky Will linger awhile Will linger awhile So as to gift just an inch more of night But you break from my life No more kiss, no more I But listen to some reason, there's nothing in your dreams But if you're getting even, you're getting even Trying to get even, better start believing I can forgive and we can forget Even after all this wrestling of conscience I can forgive and we can forget Even after all this love and other nonsense It's the worst part of the best of me, best of me Love, I'm trying so hard to be free Worst of the best of me, best of me Love, I'm trying so hard to be free Lonely but free and out of love If you're getting even, you're getting even If you're getting even, you're getting even If you're getting even, you're getting even Trying to get even, better start believing I can forgive and we can forget Even after all this wrestling of conscience I can forgive and we can forget Even after all this love and other nonsense You're getting even You're getting even And I can forgive and we can forget You're getting even You're getting even And I can forgive but we can forget You're getting even You're getting even And I can forgive and we can forget You're getting even You're getting even And I can forgive but we can forget You're getting even
The track explores the complexities and aftermath of a troubled relationship. The lyrics suggest a sense of resignation and acceptance for the situation at hand, while also expressing feelings of longing and a desire for resolution. In the first verse, the narrator acknowledges their reluctance to become someone they never wanted to be, possibly due to the actions or behavior of their partner. The line "we can only be me" implies a sense of self-preservation and a refusal to compromise their own identity. The second verse delves into the consequences of staying in a stagnant relationship. The line "then you'll never know how you could miss like the daylight the way you're missing us now" suggests that by refusing to confront or address the problems in the relationship, the partner is missing out on the potential for growth and happiness. The chorus serves as a plea for reconciliation and understanding. It suggests that if the partner can listen to reason and overcome their desire for revenge or "getting even," forgiveness and healing are possible. The mention of "all this love and other nonsense" implies that despite the ups and downs, the love shared between the two is worth fighting for. The third verse introduces the idea of a consequential kiss, symbolizing the potential for unity and connection. However, the partner's decision to break away from the narrator's life signifies the end of that potential. This further emphasizes the sense of missed opportunities and the pain of separation. The bridge speaks to the conflicting emotions within the narrator, describing themselves as the "worst part of the best of me." There is a struggle between love and the desire for freedom, potentially hinting at the internal battles faced in trying to salvage the relationship. The pre-chorus and subsequent repetitions of the chorus highlight the theme of "getting even." It suggests that revenge or seeking retribution will not lead to resolution, but rather forgiveness, understanding, and a genuine attempt to fix the relationship are necessary. The song concludes with the repeated lines "you're getting even, and I can forgive, and we can forget." Here, the narrator expresses their willingness to let go of past grievances and move forward, allowing for the possibility of healing and reconciliation. Overall, "Getting Even" delves into the complexities of relationships, highlighting the importance of communication, forgiveness, and a shared determination to overcome obstacles. It invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences with troubled relationships and the potential for growth through empathy and understanding.
So listen to some reason there's nothing in your dreams but if you r getting even, you r getting even, trying to get even, you've better start believing..😳😭
+ECHo It ruins it. The art is already very abstract in a realistic manner where it's not hard to imagine effects more poignant than an eye blink. It's almost redundant.
It’s a worst part of the best of me 2x Love, I’m trying so hard to be free Worst got the best of me 2x Love, I’m trying so hard to be free Lonely but free and out of love If you’re getting even, you’re getting even 2x If you’re getting even, you’re getting even Trying to get even, better start believing I can forgive and we can forget Even after all this, wrestling of conscience I can forgive and we can forget Even after all this, love and other nonsense You’re getting even 2x
So Stunnning... Sound that keeps you awake whatever boring humor is!!... Still sticking to their dark style. The mixing of two rythms at the end is such a delight!!!!!!
Amazing sound!!!!! cannot be more agree with all of you... Depeche mode fusioned with a+ha!!!!!! it´s like if this song had 30 years old!!!!! i just can´t believe it!!!!!!!!! great!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've learned "getting even" and "getting revenge" is something the open relationship crowd does. Every weekend for a long time it was about this person or that one getting even or getting revenge. Or "just one more time." I guarantee you it was "just one more time" half a dozen times at least. But lately"he's not even getting even" has another feeling and sense. I don't get even. I don't have to. God says in Romans He will get revenge if it's something. It's the same reason our legal system doesn't allow a deputy to just kill a perp when he or she catches the person. But let me give you another example and maybe the elevator will go to the top floor this time. I was looking for a throttle valve cable for something. I could find them all day for $120 plus shipping. So I looked up the actual part number and found it much cheaper. It's not the information isn't available. It's just you need to have a little more on the ball. Over a month ago I could pay $40 for quality head gaskets and then another $50 for TTY bolts. But because I knew the original part number I was able to get Ford to send me a complete set for $44. Granted Rock Auto could have sold me similar head gaskets for about the same BUT it wouldn't have been with a new set of TTY bolts. Just because you didn't find it readily available doesn't mean the information doesn't exist. It just means I took it away from you because all you do is rebuke the messenger, the Word, and blaspheme the Spirit. Why do you even think I was given the messenger task? Maybe it's time you oiled your elevator cable so the platform can go all the way up to the top floor. (I also know there's people using their gifts for evil and everything I write to explain something they have access... and I've tried to explain that's demonic in nature because God doesn't work that way. Demons just know the present and the past if they even tell the truth and that's exceedingly rare. So even if you do operate for evil you're not using a good set of tools. I bought a cheap power steering pulley puller. Worked ok for removal but wouldn't put it back on. Had to borrow a good set and it was easy once I had a qualitatively good tool. I didn't even bother to buy the cheap ball joint tool. Local garage had it swapped in 30 minutes. *Upper ball joints are notorious for being more difficult. I could have borrowed a tool for that too but I've been having back muscle spasms (in the heat! Usually a winter problem.. which is why you'll never ever ever hear me complain about summer heat.) and I knew I'd need a long leverage pipe because I don't have that kind of air pressure and so I just knew I should let someone else do it. **Ever heard of a respondent? Look that up and think about it. Has nothing to do with me being a legalist. Never has. There's whole passages you're ignoring for what you want. Totally out of context. So even God's justice is completely legal. But in this case you decide whether you're going to believe a word or passage in the Bible by your surrender, by your willingness to do it. If you don't do it, you don't believe it. Believing in spiritual terms is about your clay being shaped, about your doing. It's not enough to "be" a believer and not do. Being without doing or being without surrender isn't biblical faith. You're being fooled by the angel of light, Belial. That's why I'll only listen to or watch certain pastors because some think the job is just public speaking and some never surrender.. teaching without doing. That's why they don't feel any remorse whatsoever by being harsh and mistreating people and abusing for the fun of it as if it's a game to abuse and hurt someone over and over and over again year in and year out. And then say, "we were just joking." They take but never give anything good. It would be like a master plumber coming out and doing the ground work and then the rich home owner deciding not to pay. He or she uses the plumbing but refuses to be honest or surrender to God and do the right thing. Stop saying you're sorry. When you're sorry you'll do the right thing. Until then you don't really believe.
Well, let's just say he sounds like he might as well belong to the 80s. In any case back then male voices sounded a whole lot better than the average strange hich-pitched ones of today, I'm so tired of them and really enjoy having found a song like this and others of this band. Harry McVeigh's voice is just pleasant to listen to.
