GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Gulfport Police arrested 15-year-old Lexi Jade Brown after officers said she attempted to kill her sleeping mother.
Police were called to the 13000 block of Dee Avenue around 2:33 a.m. on Friday, June 14.
Officers said they found Brown’s mother suffering from several stab wounds. Police said she was sleeping in bed when she awakened to Brown attacking her with a knife.
Gulfport Police also said Brown tried to start a fire inside the home.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
In a press release sent to WLOX, Gulfport Police shared some statements from the suspect: “While being questioned by detectives, Brown stated she had been planning to kill the victim because she found her to be a ‘weird b*tch’ and accused her of ‘suppressing the black in her.’”
Brown is now charged with attempted murder and first-degree arson. She was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center and was issued a $1,250,000 bond by Judge Patano.
