As a non mexican hispanic new yorker, what the hell are you talking about? 😂 We got mexican food here but it's all about that boricua and Dominican food. And in some neighborhoods, Colombian food. If you want really good Mexican food in the states, go to Texas, California or the southwest in general. If I want some good ass cuban food, I'm going to Miami. Staten Island has decent Italian restaurants because of the large Italian ancestry there.

@@dangercat9188 I think a lot of people just tend to lump all Latin American cuisines in with each other. As a non-Hispanic person who grew up in LA, I also grew up thinking every Hispanic person just ate Mexican food and in my mind, every time I had other Latin American cuisines, I thought it was the same as Mexican food. We even had a really famous Cuban bakery near my house that I loved and for some reason, in my mind, it was Mexican lol. Wasn't until I got older and started making more friends from different backgrounds that I realized how real the ignorance was 🥴

@@siiiiiuu7 yea. But it's not your fault. It's the education system here. America needs to make geography a mandatory course. See, as a carribbean Hispanic (PR/DR), our food is more sweet and salty rather than spicy. Many of us can't even tolerate spicy. I can though but as long as it's not toooo spicy lol. We eat plantains, rice, chicken, beans, flan, drink rum instead of tequila, salami. Stuff like that. But I do like me some mexican food every once in a while lol. Them street tacos from the trucks are the best imo.

@@dangercat9188 you are correct the Puertorican and dominican cuisine is much more popular and I'm sure ther is really great mexican food in texas. I hear that alot . I live in Spanish Harlem and there are lots of great mexican restaurants in this are. That is my experience.
