White's boots DIY resole pt 1

This pair of White's boots is made with their "hand sewn stitchdown" construction method, currently around $700 new. I picked these up for under $100 from ebay, and with less than $50 in materials I'm calling this a W.
To start off this project, the heels need to be removed, then the rubber sole and finally the leather midsole. At this point I opted to remove the leather shank so that I could rough up the shiny grain side of it and get some glue in there. I'm not about to have the "White's squeak" on this pair. Then after roughing up all the glue surfaces, the new J&FJ Baker midsole is glued and nailed on.

@@KevinMoura-xk1ps it's fine and I totally get why they do it. But when removing the old ones, the easiest starting point was at the sides where the stitches were worn through. It didn't fight me one bit. Believe me, if I had a Landis sole stitcher and some way to cut a groove in the outsole, I would do it. But since I don't, and I have the ability to resole in this way, not to mention the fact that local cobblers generally don't stitch through thick V100 lug soles, it just makes sense for me not to worry too much about it.
