A white church balanced their books during an economic hardship in which they couldn't pay the Pastor by selling a few members of their church into slavery. Imagine how cold the hearts the congregation had to be to make such a decision that they would look at those who were considered the least and betray their fellow Believers into slavery. How did the Black community look at that church or GOD for that matter after such an egregious (for lack of a better term) decision and act! I'm at a loss for words.

I agree that we are at a moment in history. I currently don't have a lot of optimism that we will get through it without more bloodshed because it appears that the conservative block established on the court is determined to return the country to those times when "wealthy white male property owners" were the sole decision makers in all things that mattered. For most of the 500 years that our melanin-challenged brethren have ruled over this land they stole from the indigenous inhabitants they found here, only when other males of a similar class or social standing threatened them by force and/or economics, have those with that particular mindset retreated from or corralled that sickness born out of the roots of capitalism. The only real answer to this problem is to increase the size and representation of the various marginalized segments of society on SCOTUS and in the halls of congress while at the same time removing the influence of money in and on those institutions.

Structure racism is exactly where the real battle lives. All the symbolism of good faith in world, while it may feel good, does not change the daily lives of people if color, and specifically Black people.
