I can't wait to get back into fly fishing and fly tying, started when i was 7 years old kept going till 17-18 then my rod and fly tying kit broke. Slayed a lot of salmon and trout back in the days. This video helped a lot for refreshing the memory of fly tying, thanks man

Really like your quick tying videos. Maybe not great for the raw beginner, but for the more experienced it is great.

Great video! I like to tie mine in a different way that I learned a LONG time ago (I invert the mylar piping at the head end, then roll it to the back). More recently I began using gel superglue to secure the rabbit strip to the mylar. I also fish for some pretty toothy critters (walleye/pike), so I also use kevlar thread that I use for tying bucktail jigs:-)

Landed some lunker bass on a very similar fly to this but with a chartreuse bead and chartreuse fritz! Very satisfying! :-)

I add a bead head instead of the lead wraps for the extra weight and it works great for walleye and bass

My buddy Dan invented the Zonker. It would be nice to give him a shout out. He paid off his mortgage on royalties from Umpqua for the rights to the fly.
