So like, i'd say it was about right here 0:10 ye that's when he realized he fucked up. Just a guess based on how his facial expression quickly switched to "oh shit".
It’s easy to forget why Whitebeard’s bounty is so high. This is how strong he was after old age, several heart attacks, shot by cannon, stabbed, on the edge of consciousness, and probably barely able to summon Haki up against one of the strongest logia users in the world. And it was still nearly even.
Honestly though, considering he was on par with roger, but still slightly weaker, IN HIS PRIME. Dude, roger must have been an insanely strong considering white beard did all this in his worst moments, then, how strong is roger if he was stronger than his prime phase. Think about it
@@TheRandomCopperPennyo one ever said he is slightly weaker dude, they difference is that they have different goals in life. .thats why roger respected whitebeard and almost shares where the one piece is.
@@TheRandomCopperPenny no one said WB is weaker though, the fans just assumed because roger is the pirate king, they just have different goals in life, roger wanted to be pirate king, WB does not, he only wants family. .thats their difference. .not whos weaker or stronger.
I love it how his observation Haki didn't even see Whitebeard coming, it only detected the legendary sword right behind him in the last moment as he was too distracted and fixated on killing Dragon's son, so he just freezes in his tracks when it gets slammed against the ground. He fully understood at that moment that Whitebeard was now far too close for him to counter.
Without a doubt, Whitebeard showing up behind Akainu ready to turn him into paste for Ace is the most terrifying thing I've ever seen. No joke, you almost feel bad for the guy. Almost.
Old, sick, and severely injured...and he still beat the crap out of one of the strongest characters in the story. Guy must have been a nightmare when he was relatively young
I don’t mind Akainu surviving here (as much as we all love WB, it would be stupid to kill off Akainu so early) but there really should have been lasting damage from this attack. Permanent internal organ damage, or maybe getting an arm blown off. Not only did he survive this encounter with barely a scratch but he IMMEDIATELY went on to beat Aokiji in a duel. Just screams plot armor imo. There’s no chance anybody could tank a full-power hit from Whitebeard and then defeat a fellow Admiral the same day.
They censored this for the anime. In the manga, Whitebeard sneaks up on Akainu and hits him from behind, then Akainu gets up and melts off at least a third of his skull. If Akainu surviving the quakes was plot armor, than Whitebeard not immediately dying was a much better example of it.
@@CatotheE I’m aware of the change from the manga, but WB dies regardless. I’m not saying Akainu should have died, I’m saying it’s silly for him to have taken zero major damage from such a powerful attack.
To be fair he didn’t beat Aokiji the same day their fight when on for 16 days or something and it’s not like it was the same day because it took place on punk hazard which would have taken a week at least to get there realistically
Akainu did fight wb when he first arrived and wb didnt even di anything to akainu if i remember correctly (edit: he did have the stab from squard or whatever the dudes name was but that wasnt a huge injury)
He was hit with the full raw strength of a earthquake, two times. Akainu absolutely deserves the Admiral Fleet rank. All the Admirals are freaking monsters.
Whitebeard did this to an Admiral while he was old, past his prime, sick, on the brink of death and he still clapped Akainu’s cheeks. Imagine if he was moderately healthy at his old age
Dude what makes it even more surprising is in the manga the attack that only destroyed half of white beards mustache actually cut *HALF OF HIS FACE OFF EXPOSING HIS BRAIN.*
I would argue the same thing with Akainu’s skull not being caved in from that punch, suffer massive internal bleeding from the earthquake shot to the gut and all the bones in his torso broken.
A lot of people interpret it as Akainu just getting wrecked, but to his credit, he fearlessly engages the strongest man in the world, takes off half of his head, blows a hole in him, and is eager to continue fighting despite his serious injuries.
That’s like saying Mike Tyson lose to Floyd then Floyd stronger …the dude Wb is already on his death bed before entering Marineford then he get stabbed by his mans then fights one of the strongest admirals ….I give Akainu that he did give Wb some crazy damages but for Wb to tank that while in his condition is Insane … no doubt in my body Wb in his prime would have obliterated everyone there
Strongest man in the world? He was sick and old. And still he beat the shit out of Akainu, even of he was injured by the Admiral. And after that, he almost beat the shit out of Teach too.
I know we hate Akainu but the fact that he took two full force punches from Whitebeard and got up a short time later and continued fighting shows what an absolute monster an Admiral is
@@rogamingz206 I see him being defeated by Sabo because it would showcase the irony in Akainu's statement/belief that fire will never be hotter than lava.

I came back to see this fight after having seen the White Beard and Roger Clash of haki, to realize that Akainu is the luckiest guy in the history of anime
@@markestevenfederis1614 IDK why everyone speaks like if this actually a plot armor.... If it was true... Why didn't Oda let him live but gets him out from underground after the war Why did he decide to let him go and chase luffy... Scar luffy on his chest with Jinbei, Ivan and then faces whole whitebeard commanders and non could really stop him till another Yonko SHANKS appears Also he literally didn't face any difficulties walking or didn't show any signs of injuries in his interior parts... Why didn't Oda let a scar on his belly... Or why not let him be in a coma and gets out after the war??? He might have used some advanced Haki techniques (don't want to spoil 🔥) Or if this means sth... Then it might be just that Oda wanted to Finish Sakazuki at that moment BUT THEN HE THOUGHT BACK AND SAID... "LEMME GET HIM OUT AND MAKE HIM THE FINAL VILLAIN" AND ofcourse that would have made Oda change his mind about his strength and make him appear stronger so it could fit the final villain maybe 😕? Simply there were many ways to let Sakazuki live but without letting him comeback again in the war with no scars or serious injuries... Oda isn't that stupid... He made him live and come fight again with all WB pirates to show his strength ain't plot armor..... At least he could have drew a scar on his belly when he drew him with borsalino in the Manga later (with no shirt on he had no scars at all)🤔😏
To see how akainu tanked that attack so good that he continues fighting afterwards shows how damn strong akainu is it is also a shame that Whiteboard didn’t loose his half head in the fight in anime cuz it’s would be way more impressive
Well if you are at this point of the story, you pretty much know all that there is to know about his character so far. He is in the moral grey zone, he is a EOS antagonist.
@@animestan7498 considering how he kills pirates and his own underling equally, akainu probably has a bad history with both pirates and marines as a kid. If you look at Oda's SBS, young sakazuki is covered in bruises+blood and seems cornered from a fight (looks like a rough/abused childhood imo) My guess is that Sakazuki's family/village got brutally killed by some pirates causing him to be constantly on the run, he then tries to report the crime to authority but find out that his local law enforcer, and every grown ups in his town are too corrupt. He decide to join marines to eradicate all pirates and punish the marines from inside
I think a lot of people forget that whitebeard is an anomaly, even amongst the strong in one piece. He was using one of his arms to hold a weapon and the other to block akainu’s arms and legs both. It’s like something I could do to my child brother if he was trying to fight me, he’s SO much stronger than an admiral that he can literally let an ADMIRAL swing on him and he is using one arm to just brush the attacks off. I don’t think any other character could shrug off attacks like whitebeard
@@SaifKhan-ub9vf well, maybe not scared but caught off guard. getting caught off guard pretty much gives you the same reaction as being scared would give us sometimes.
3 most unexplained things in the universe : -What’s inside a black hole? -Does life exist on other planets? *-How the f*ck did Akainu survive being punched twice by a quake man and still walk out with just mouth bleeding?*
Akainu is a peak haki user also a logia .Wgitebeard was far his prime at this point and akainu saw the punch comming .Akainu blocked wgitebeards attack before .Its rather scary that whiteberad knocked out through all of his defences in this tate he was in
I just finished watching Luffy vs Kaido both using conqueror-coated attacks. The not touching each other going on pretty much reminds me of this particular scene as whitebeard punched akainu without touching him but I must say akainu is very lucky here. Imagine if whitebeard's punch was coated with conquerors haki instead of his devil fruit power.
Now just realize that Whitebeard was only at 5% of his power in this arc. In his prime he could’ve probably ended Akainu right there. Akainu is the luckiest SOB in anime history.
@@bensylver5113 Prime Whitebeard would fold Marineford. Yes Garp & Sengoku would fight equally with him but they can't counter the Quake fruit abilities. I know Whitebeard has awakening too.
Jô Suares WB was a beast, not only a “simple” yonkou but the strongest man alive, they told to us that he could’ve destroyed the world with his Gura-Gura if he only wanted to; a match with Akainu vs WB in his prime would’ve lasted 30 seconds, i completly agree with you! (Aldo imagine Garp in his prime🤩)
@@andrea-6252 Yeah , WB is obviously a monster , and i think that Big mom , Kaido and Shanks can defeat Akainu easily too. Big mom is probably in her prime, she is really bulky and has a really broken devil fruit , Kaido is the strongest being among all living things, and Akainu got scared when shanks blocked his punch with a sword , etc.. They are all insanely strong.
I dont mind that Akainu lived, but the fact he also went on after this to beat Aokiji for the position of Admiral and still look perfectly fine when we see him is truly a head scratcher.
10 years since then, the video is now a decade old. Man the fight against Akainu and Whitebeard was intense in this video and the music definitely played well and impactful in this fight scene.
Its actually stated by oda that akainu was to die in the marineford arc but his executive producer convinced him to keep him alive as he would make a good villain for end story
jj love stop the bullshit I''ve been hearing this for years and not once you haters provided any evidence akainu is the best villain in the show deal with it the rest of them are a joke and unrealistic black beard big mom Kaido my god I've seen more serious characters in Scooby doo
It's impressive that Akainu was able to recover enough after this to fight Aokiji and win. His durability is surely top tier, as you would expect from someone who is Fleet Admiral.
Whitebeard landed a single attack and akainu was almost out. Man couldnt even move properly from that attack. If whitebeard managed to land his kick after that punch I doubt akainu would be able to recover from that. Whitebeard landed 2 df attacks to akainu and guy was almost dead if not for plot armor. Akainu tried to fight whitebeard with pure strength but was outmatched. And the only reason he was able to land another hole to whitebeards stomach was because the guy couldn't dodge attacks no more due to old age. The moment he got a hold of akainus shirt, it was the end
@@PhoenixAce he had abilities to dig himself into the ground and just try to run or simply fly away, he stood his ground and took a beating, i dont respect but damn bros got balls
@@DxRzYT prime whitebeard would 1 shot akainu but he's far from his prime and akainu didn't survive because of plot armor he survived because whitebeard was very old and sick
I'd go with Whitebeard because he has the title of Strongest Man Alive. Get on his bad side, pray to every god you believe in and hope WB doesn't obliterate you into atoms.
It's actually genuine plot armor because even oda said he was supposed to die to white beard in this fight. But the rivalry of him and Luffy was a golden opportunity that he wanted to see through
I just want to remind you that whitebeard was in his 70s, dying from an incurable illness (possibly cancer), was stab and slash hundreds of times by the marines, have 2 big ass hole in his chest and one of the hole literally roasted his organ and yet still manage to pull this off. Imagine what he can do in his prime
Sengoku stated at the start of the war that he was the man who could destroy the world. By the end of the war you see that wasn't an empty threat, he could have if he wanted to
@@dragonlord3376and u also keep in mind that he got stabbed manny times and he had big hole in his chest and he was also fighting with an unknown disease and still managed to clap akainu.
That WAS his actual goal. He told his crew when he was about to die that he wanted this to be his final battle, so he could be with his whole family, but when too many were dying he decided to bring his death closer to save them. Truly an excellent pops
This scene is just so gdamn good, i always come back once in a while to watch it again. I get chills when akainu turn back and is like "oh shit" 😬 when wb open his eyes wide open pissed off then swing that fist i chuckles 🤣 Legend
1:47 The reason why this was so satisfying wasn't only because he deserved it but because when someone is on the verge of death like The red dog or Teach, they all show their true colors. WB on the other hand, accepted his fate after Ace's death & took it like a real King. WB brought out the inner rabid dog inside Akainu(his true form) that would do almost anything for these 5 elders and that's why they liked him so much. Coby almost died for getting in his way but what's even more satisfying was that he was too exhausted & traumatized to fight Yonko Shanks as well as Sengoku or Garp.😂
One of the most satisfying sequences in all of one piece. That look in whitebeards face "You killed my nakama. Nothing will save you, not even my death." followed by Akainu being force fed an entire island.
When Whitebeard hits someone directly like that, he's literally creating an earthquake inside of the body. Which means all of your organs are being turned into nothing which means you're dead. Akainu probably was able to absorb some of the impact with haki which is probably why he didn't die. Still though, after a life-changing blow like that, you'd think he'd be crippled/weakened in some way. Maybe he is and we haven't seen it yet
Not to mention the concussion possibilities and the mental capacities after blows like that, definitely wouldn't be in the same mindset after. Similarly with the enies lobby arc villian leader (i forgot his name) but you could definitely notice the change in mindset after he got rocked in the face.
He isn't. We've seen time skip Akainu and he's capable of putting up a fight against. Aokiji. Still, I doubt Akainu came out unscratched. Probably got a nasty scar, or something like All-might, where his stamina got affected.
Agree. Yea although it was epic af i kinda felt like akainu should have had more repercussions after getting smacked with direct hits with one of the most if not the most powerful fruit
Apparently, Akainu was originally meant to day at the hands of whitebeard. But the creators decided he was too good of a villain to die so soon. Basically, he's only alive because of plot armour xd
@@chillcapybaracitrus from what I've read, Oda's editor loved Akainu's character and begged to keep him in. If it wasn't for that, Akainu would've died after falling into the abyss or right after that final body shot
Whitebeard's attack was only strong against the ground. Didn't do much damage to Akainu despite the visual effects. On the other hand, Whitebeard could not survive the injuries inflicted by Akainu
Tbf though blackbeard litterally ran when he realized it was akainu chasing him and this is after he obtained WB DF. But i do agree with you that the yonko are above the admirals.
@@nevillelibongani6046 he can for sure beat a couple of the Admirals. Not Akainu. If any of them besides Akainu fought Luffy and managed to win it's for sure going to be a high diff
In the manga, he only had half a face. That's how badass Whitebeard was. Akainu punched his face off, but he tanked it and still raped the crap out of the Red Dog.
This video just *oozes* the incandescent fury that Whitebeard was feeling towards Akainu. I don't think anyone, canon or otherwise, might have come even close to the rage felt in this moment in the series. And yeah, the bastard got a few good licks in, but one does not simply *kill Whitebeard*. Katakuri may have never fallen on his back, *But Whitebeard died STANDING*. None, save the main character himself, may even come close to Whitebeard's power.
Whitebeard was so pissed off an orchestra started playing… it knew the climatic point too! That’s how you know you’re OP, when the soundtrack even knows the assignment.
Akainu seems like a man caught between two great generations. He's one tough son of b! I know people hate his character but I'm excited to see a man as strong as him develop
@@zaryabK-vi8fh It's hate for his character. It's good writing from Oda for some audience members to hate him. He fully captured the character he wanted, a villain through the eyes of our protagonist but a hero in his world. I personally don't like him much since he has a bit of a douchebag attitude but that's just his work ethic, his strong morals for justice, and his character being built on testosterone.
