What's up with Whitefish Lake Ice Fishing? Whitefish Lake is a great lake for ice fishing. There are several species that you can target. Lake trout, Whitefish, Pike, perch, and the occasional Cutthroat Trout. Ice fishing on Whitefish Lake is a great option if it's safe. You'll want to make sure it has at least 4'' of ice, although I like 5". Whitefish Lake is a big lake and ice thickness is variable at best. One side of the lake will have 6-8'' then the other side will have 2''. Just make sure you know what you're walking on. Lakers tend to be in deeper water, 80-160' is a good range. I'm typically starting around 80' then working deeper until I find them. Elongated points and edges of drops are all great places to start fishing. Navionics underwater maps are key to finding good water. White tubes are money on Whitefish Lake for lakers and whitefish.
