Yes, I remember. I also remember her as the romantic interest in one of Tom Hanks' first movies, Bachelor Party. If you haven't seen, it is interesting to say the least.
Written by John Sykes who left the group before the video. He is British and first came to notice in a band called Tigers of Pan Tang; part of the new wave of metal in the early 80's. He is also an accomplished vocalist and joined Thin Lizzy helping to write the album Thunder and Lightening and made the group heavier then they had ever been.
Sykes left/was fired before the video was released, but his guitar work was used for the audio on both the album and this video. Sykes was in Thin Lizzy before getting Phil Lynott's blessing to leave and go to Whitesnake. When Coverdale fired him, he created a band called Blue Murder with drummer Carmen Apiece and bassist Tony Franklin.. There are several fantastic songs from their self-titled debut album, but they never got too far because grunge swallowed up rock and roll about the time they got going.
David Coverdale’s voice in the 80s was the epitome of rock and roll! And as a child of the 80s I don’t know anyone who didn’t have a major crush on Tawny Kittain. For me it was her and Lita Ford!
This song is full of Led Zeppelin-isms. From the octave jumps in the guitar riffs, and the breakdown that is reminiscent of several Zeppelin tunes and the use of the violin bow caps that off as Jimmy Page famously first used one.
I was hanging out with Def Lepperd at the hotel bar in Louisville KY while they were on the Hysteria tour. They referred to David Coverdale as "David Cover-Version", a reference to him essentially copying Robert Plant.
Biss you are filling my heart with joy every time you listen to an 80's Rock hair band! You are definitely earning your 80's Rocker Chic Props! Well done!❤️💛
So, we went over some of this on the last one, but I just found out about a story that apparently the girl in this video was supposed to be a young, not yet famous, Claudia Schiffer, who is a German model that was one of the huge super models back in the day, but for some reason she fell out the night before, so they decided to go with Tawny Kitaen, who was the fiance or wife of the lead singer at the time. I guess as a teenager, she was dating the guitar player from the band Ratt, and they used her in a video and some album covers. Which put her on the map. Somehow she eventually ended up married to the lead singer from Whitesnake for a couple years, and was in both of the videos of their's that you've seen so far, and actually, also the video for "Here I Go Again", which, for me personally, is the more iconic Whitesnake song and video. She was a model and actress back in the day, who was apparently known for being pretty wild. I remember her being on a TV show at one point, and some other random acting roles here and there, but she was probably most famous for being in the Whitesnake videos. Later, she was married to a baseball player, and in the end, the cops had to show up to their house when they were having a huge fight, and she was arrested for beating him. I think she also got arrested for Cocaine possession, and a couple times for drunk driving. Like I said, apparently she was no joke when it came to living that rock n roll lifestyle.
Your expression when he's playing the mellow part of the solo on his guitar like a violin is priceless... I knew this was going to happen, as you've talked about how much you love violins on your earlier reactions
Hi there! So I'm noticing that this is one of your first experiences listening to Whitesnake. They were definitely a powerhouse band back in the 80s. They were also a Supergroup. This is definitely one of their best songs. A LOT of sex appeal amongst those bands too. And, no, Adrian Vandenberg does not use the violin bow to play on his guitar. It's just for 'show'. He didn't even do that live. However, one of the pioneers of that particular style of playing guitar with a violin bow was Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin. A ton of great 80s "Hair Bands" out there back then. Vivian Campbell who plays lead guitar here went off to be in Def Leppard. If you haven't heard them, I highly recommend you do so. A top notch British band who formed in the late 70s and championed the 80s. Best songs from them are: Hysteria, Tonight, Love Bites, Women, Pour Some Sugar On Me just to name a few. Other Hair Bands you may want to checkout are: Queensryche, Great White, Every Mother's Nightmare, Vain, Leatherwolf, Y&T, Jetboy, Kix to start off with. All great! Enjoy!
Actually the entire band you see in this video didn't play one note of this song. All the guitar work for the whole album was done by John Sykes except for the solo on Here I Go Again. That was redone by Adrian Vandenberg. The bass was played by Neil Murray and the drums were done by Ansley Dunbar. After the album was done being recorded the singer David Coverdale fired Sykes , Murray and Dunbar. He then handpicked the band you see in the videos and on tour for the album. They were - Vivian Campbell (guitar) , Adrian Vandenberg (guitar) , Rudy Sarzo (bass) and Tommy Aldridge (drums). Not taking away from Vivian's talent cause if anyone could pull off the solo , he could. Sykes co-wrote a lot of the songs on that album.
I was a young man in the 80's, it was fun. This is my favorite WS song, I even got to play drums on this song in one of my bands. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
He indeed didn't play the guitar with the bow, all synthesizers here. But you can check the band The Creation with the song Painter Man, who did that even before Jimmy Page did it :-)
TAWNY!!! When this song came out we'd huddle in the dorm and watch Headbanger's Ball, waiting for Whitesnake videos to be played.. specifically, those off the 1987 album
The band does a very good job and video, Biss, albeit very reminisicent of Van Halen and other hard rock bands of the 70s, but that's the genre after all. The girl was Tawny Kitaen who was in several movies and TV shows too. She passed away in 2021.
Great Reaction! Whitesnake albums/cd's "Slide it in" and "Slip of the tongue " are definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. Thanks for covering Still of the Night.
The girl in the video is once again Tawny Kitaen, ex-wife of David Coverdale, lead singer of the Band. At that time she appeared in several videos by the band Whitesnake. Still of the Night, Here I Go Again, Is This Love, Fool for Your Loving and The Deeper the Love.
'Low Life in High Places', by THUNDER (another British rock band), is also definitely worth a listen - over the years, they have had a fairly strong association with Whitesnake.
I miss this. I miss great musicians, that can write great melodies, play on the next level, look like rock stars, and bring the women to rock with us. Miss it
it's one of THE most badass songs ever..the song, the video, the singer, watching this for the first time you just feel like you've entered a world you were never cool enough to be part of, and that bow on an electric guitar is just muahh, a chef's kiss, the song has it all
More of this? Ratt, Quiet Riot, Winger, Warrant, Van Halen even (the DLR era), Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Def Leppard... So many more...but of course Jon Bon...
This is definitely the best of the 80s Whitesnake hits. Fantastic song. The woman is Tawny Kitean. She was an actress and model, but she kinda became a household name because of Whitesnake videos. She was David Coverdale's GF and eventually they married.
Love that you're reacting to "Still of the Night" and loved your reaction to it Biss. And i waited with baited breathe on your reaction to the bow used on the 🎸 guitar.

Hello Bisscute. Wow, wow, wow, one more discovery thanks to you, but what seems incredible to me is that even though it is a band that has been founded for more than 40 years, I didn't know anything about it. I loved Whitesnake and I loved Still of the Night. I will continue listening to them without a doubt. I hope you can react to Deep Purple with the song Smoke On The Water (Live from Montreux 2007). Greetings and a hug from Mexico City.
Some of the very best rock riffs, breakdowns, time changes, build ups. Just such a great iconic tune! I'm not particularly surprised you loved it. You have good taste!
I can't believe that they've been going this long who would have thought that ACDC would have lasted as long as they have it's because of good music and they know how to do it
There are several mid to late 80's bands that were really great. The thing back then was big hair, as you know, and sex appeal. If you like this then you have got to check out Coming of Age by The Damn Yankees... You will love it :)

Hello Biss! What an EPIC song. You've probably seen in other comments the woman in this video is Tawny Kitaen. The thing she is most remembered for is being in the "Holy Trinity" of Whitesnake videos. You've already seen 2 of them. Now all that is left is the biggest hit of them all, and the most remembered video - 'Here I go again'. A super-duper-duper mega hit. In an era where almost all videos featured hot nameles women (ah, the good ol' days) these trio of videos made Tawny Kitaen a household name, THE superstar woman of music videos. Millions of young men were in lust with her. So please Biss, react to 'Here I go Again' soon, and PLEASE PLEASE react to the official video. You'll never think of car hoods in the same way again. 😏 And Tawny Kitaen, RIP Beautiful.
The 1980s version of Led Zeppelin's Black Dog, with a big dash of Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love thrown in. The violin bow on the guitar is also a Led Zeppelin thing from guitarist Jimmy Page. 5:26 _The legs, guys. It's always the legs._ ... because the legs lead us to The Promised Land.
What else do we men need for complete happiness?! Just a little. This is a good driving music, a glass of whiskey, and a half-naked girl! )) P. S. The Great Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin also played a violin bow on his guitar!
There are a completely endless amount of good songs in this genre... by 100's of different 80's bands. One more with Whitesnake is "Fool For Your Loving".. or "Here I Go Again"..
