Join The Dreamers Initiative as Madi, Harleigh and Jake enjoy a MUST DO activity here in Jackson Hole, Whitewater Rafting. Based on the reviews, we decided to do our rafting trip at Dave Hansen Whitewater Rafting, which is located in the heart of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
The entire experience, front to back, was absolutely incredible and we highly recommend it. The trip starts off in their store, where you get your wets suits on and can purchase some merchandise while waiting. Once your time hits, the crew will get you situated on a bus that will then take you through the scenic views outside of town to their rafting drop-off location.
From here, you're in the hands of the guides, who all seemed to be skilled and knowledgeable. Our guide's name was Emmie, and we couldn't have had a better experience. She was friendly, informative, engaging and truly created a lively atmosphere for the whole boat to get on board with. If Emmie is still working there, try for her!
The rafting experience itself is only about an hour to an hour and a half, despite the advertised 3.5 hours on their website. This 3.5 hours includes everything from getting gear on to being dropped back off at the store at the end. Despite the shorter than anticipated trip, it was still plenty of time to be out crashing around on the rapids!
We got the 8-person boat, sharing a raft with a family of 5, who made the trip a whole lot of fun. Getting to share this experience with strangers was one of our favorite parts!
There are a few more intense rapids with the majority being fairly tame, though the rapids change depending on the season. Regardless, they were all enjoyable and provided a good workout. There also a few calmer sections where you can jump in and relax for a bit. The water is cold though!
Overall, be prepared to get wet, share lots of laughs with strangers, jump into the snake river (if you're brave enough) and create memories that will last a lifetime. We still talk about our trip even months after we have gone.
