Yes, I know it's SNAPPER season, but I just thought I would have a look in the Tooradin Channel in Western Port and try and chase up some of these tasty fish for a break from the REDS. I found them and they were on!!! #whiting #westernport #fishing #melbournefishing

Great vid. I throw my whiting straight into an ice slurry in one of those esky bags. It firms up the flesh & makes it easier to fillet. It does make a difference in the quality of ur catch.

Thanks mate...l keep them alive, in the live bait tank, as long as l can, then l like to gut them and put them in the fridge overnight. Firm up nicely to fillet the next day. When the weather is warmer, l put blocks of ice into my fish bucket.👍🎣

Nice feed of fish there Rob. Do you normally fish around tide changes ? I always just about fish in Bouchiers - get a couple of whiting there (big ones) but not one after the other. Might sit right on the edge of the bank and drop down a burley pot and see if that brings them on.

Yes Matt...l like to fish that tide change, seems to bring them on. This was definitely a good day on the whiting, its not always that good😅👍🎣

Gday mate, have you got any marks for here? Never fished wp before

Unfortunately Mark, l don't give out my marks...but l suggest you sign up to 'Salt Guide'. They give you heaps of marks, each week, in both Port Phillip and Western Port 👍🎣

How heavy sinkers are you using in that area mate?
@axemansfishingadventures
@axemansfishingadventures Год назад
Gday mate, generally 6oz, but if the tide is running harder 8 oz sinkers👍🎣
@eugenecassar2887
@eugenecassar2887 Год назад
@@axemansfishingadventures so you run heavier rods to? The 1-4kg rods wouldn’t take kindly to 8oz lol
@axemansfishingadventures

I still mainly use my Shimano Raider Bream rod 7 foot 2 inch 2 to 4 kg. It's not often l have to go to 8 oz, as l like to fish an hour or so before and after a tide change in or around the Tooradin channel. It's only if l go out to the middle spit, in the middle of a tide change, when its running crazy hard, l will go up to 8oz.👍🎣
