I absolutely love Whitney Houston, there is not another soul alive that can still measure up to her talent. This is the year I had my oldest daughter & I named after Whitney. RIP Whitney - may God be with Bobbi K.
I believe there could be other artists such as Whitney. Jennifer Hudson killed it on Dream Girls, but Whitney had something so special. Your right, she is incomparable.
"I'm too famous for my own nerves." Although this was supposed to be intended as a light hearted comment, looking back I think it spoke volumes about the incredible pressures she felt constantly.
Oh Whitney...You were my childhood hero, and my heart is truly broken now that you're gone. You are the greatest vocalist I've ever heard, and I will always adore you!!!!
Knowing how Whitney was underneath all the glamour, I know for SURE that was her sense of humor. Nippy was hood, and she was a hometown girl, she knew what it was! LOL
Such a good interview. I know The Bodyguard era was HUGE for her, but I love the Whitney era and the I'm Your Baby Tonight era . So beautiful RIP Nippy. You are terribly missed.
Such a sad lost. I lost my daughter on her 23rd birtday Krystal lynn and i know the love of a mother and daughter bond. Rip Krystal Whintney and Bobbi Kris. But Krystal left a daughter name Krissy and she was only 3 but at the age of 5 now she is broken from the lost of her mother. Its hard for a mother and daughter that carrys the love of GOD
It sounds as though she was annoyed by him trying to give Clive more credit than what he deserved... But she set him straight, it was her talent that kept the ball moving. Rest in peace...
The true, relaxed, raw Whitney. Good to see this. Thank God for Cissy Houston, a warrior woman who always takes care of her baby girl! We need more mothers like her.
Those were the days. Donnie was a unique, kind and megafriendly character. Always classy and eloquent, I feel like he was a good role model for young people watching Video Soul. TV today is so full of trash. It's sad. Whitney was wonderful, as always.
BDiaz my daughter said that my generation, Whitney’s generation had great music and she wished that she experienced that music era of the 80’s more so the 90’s.
@MrChicago891 I know, I don't get why it's left off all the compilations. True, it wasn't as "instant" a song in terms of hooks. (It might be harder today for such a simply beautiful song to be a radio hit.) But it did in fact scale the top of the pop and R&B charts.
On the Oprah interview Whitney said they dated 3 years before marriage and Bobby said same in his book. Bobby was with Whitney at the 1989 premier of "Harlem Nights". There are pictures of him with her father.
GOD BLESS YOU CISSY FOR BEING SUCH A WONDERFUL AND GREAT MOTHER TO YOUR CHILDREN, GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU FOREVER AS LONG AS YOU HAVE LIFE THAT THE LORD OUR SAVIOR HAS AND CONTINUE TO GIVE YOU, YOU WONDERFUL MOTHER. I HOPE TO SEE MORE OF THEM LIKE YOU! YOU ARE THE GREATEST, MOTHER CISSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@MrChicago891 I just checked out "Miracle" and I don't think it's "strange" at all that it's never played and not featured. It's not a catchy tune. Its beautiful and Whitney sang it better than anyone could with all her talent and passion (I love her). But I can see why it didn't make it, for example, on the wonderful "Greatest Hits" DVD (2000) that I own. I love that dvd. (May she RIP)
Lol, I’m late but thought I’d answer anyways 🙂But earlier in the interview, he asked her who would she like to do a song with, and she mentioned Michael, however, Michael hadn’t reached out to her or called her on doing a song with together even though they had talked about it. So basically Donnie was making a joke and comparing her wanting to do a movie with Robert to her also waiting by the phone for Michael to call to do a song together.
I'm a New Media Journalist and even though this was recorded way back in the day, that cameraman should've already cut away from Donnie, gone to Whitney, and then back to Donnie again haha. Dude was tired as hell that day lol.*
That's where you're wrong! Whitney had been with Bobby since 1989. This show dated back in 1991. So, she was with Bobby during that time. A year later, they got married.
You're the first viewer who's asked me about that in quite some time. Yes! And in the time since I started using that moniker, I've been fortunate to interview the ladies for CD reissues of their albums!
i have over 40 funkytowngrooves reissues and also 30 tabu re-issues.they are fantastic expanded versions. the krystol "passion" reissue had Passion From A Woman (Extended Mix) 6:08. love it
