Whewwww Whitney did a lot of singing that year at the Grammys, Clive had her working!!! Even though her vocals were exhausted from all that singing…she sounds amazing!
Dutchmusicfan1992 hahahaha I miss her. The slang came out of her. Where are you darling? I love Whitney. She still sounded good here. I think around 2005 is when she lost a majority of her voice
I AM SCREAMING AT UR COMMENT!!!! ABSOLUTLEY HILARIOUS AND 1000% CORRECT!!! LMBO THAT WAS SO NIPPY !!!! 🤣🤣🤣 THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO LOVE QUEEN WHITNEY ELIZABETH HOUSTON! LOL 😆
We all know what Whitney was, but Natalie really gets discredited often. She was a great accomplished singer in her own right, and I mean a giant in music.
No. No. No. Natalie Cole ROCKED the 70's! She was on every tv show, every magazine cover, every venue you could imagine. In the 70's Natalie Cole won the heart of America. She was the first Black person and R&B artist to win the Grammy for Best New Artist. And Natalie Cole sang straight R&B with undertones of funk. In the 70's Natalie Cole didn't do any cross over music. No! She had "them" crossing over!
@@scaryanima9268 That's because the music industry and rac ism joined forces and created a definitive line in the late 70's when they established a all out war on Disco music. Why? "Everybody" couldn't create Disco music, couldn't sing Disco music, couldn't dance to Disco music and Disco music was taking OVER. At that time the forces developed a campaign to end Disco music. Black blk artists were put in a BOX. Even though black artist stopped creating Disco music (because the writing was on the wall) they were marginalized for singing R&B and Soul. Some black artists changed genres (cross-over music, Pop, Rock.) When Whitney came along she had to make a decision. So, Whitney decided to do "cross-over" music to "appeal" to the new classifications AND... She DID her thing! But, that's why we're in a box till this DAY. But make no mistake about it: Natalie Cole SANG R&B, Funk, Jazz and Soul. Natalie Cole was a REAL BIG DEAL in the 70's BEFORE the war on black music began and DURING the heights of Disco music. Trust and believe! EVERYBODY LOVED NATALIE COLE.

Natalie Cole did Whitney like Whitney did Brandy..."Why are you singing way down there?" That key raised at "Loving You" like normal but never came back down...By the time they got done they were in the original key, which Whitney had lowered at first. Natalie was like "Now you know you can sing up here stop playing" and then Whitney was like "Oh we singing up there...Okay"
IM BACK !!!!!!!! I WISH THERE WAS VIDEO OF THIS!!!!! IN HEARING HER I CAN SEE HER IN MY MIND PREFORMING THIS TIMELESS TIMELESS RECORD!!! UGH BUT HOW O WISH I COULD'VE BEEN THERE!!!!
After MLIYL tour Whitney had rough moments and she was not concentrated on singing. She was focusing on Bobby mostly. But don't get twisted could outsing Natalie or anybody. Nippy was humble she never outsing the person she she is singing a duet.
@@alexandraanderson3988 She battled Cocaine and herorin addiction in her young years. She discovered she had hepatitis c in 08 (probably from her earlier drug use). Layer She would need a kidney transplant.
Ok no shade or disrespect but I don't know if it's just me. But I feel like I understand this version of the song more when Whitney sings it than Natile in general tbh. I don't know maybe because of high pitch her voice was especially for the bridge part, of the hugging and kissing squeezing and whatever part. Didn't even know that's what it said at first🤷🏾♀️ lmaoo again no disrespect in general just saying 🤔😊
This was such an amazing love and message to Clive Davis which was her goodbye song of the old Whitney. This was the last recorded song of WHITNEY as we knew her. Good bye sweet baby angel. WOW! Why to Mr. Davis tho? Hmmmmmm
@@drissabderrhamane7948 listen to Natalie Cole Live album from the 70s then come back to me! Whitney never high those notes and could never sustain those note! Natalie ain't no joke! Go take a listen
She was no longer on drugs here. She was just a human being having a human experience. It happens sometimes. We aren't machines. Our voices don't cooperate sometimes.
